i wanna learn how to weld. how hard is it?
I wanna learn how to weld. how hard is it?
Professional/trade or just basic home welding? What are you looking to do?
Easy to learn, a lifetine to master. Watch some YouTube stuff first and go from there, like most skills obtainable on the internet.
If you're not an idiot you can probably learn. Steady hands and dont fuck around with safety.
Well thats a cut torch in the picture so theres a start
Easier than blowing glass, that's for sure.
You can weld with said torch. Oxyacetylene welding is archaic however. OP, welding is easy as fuck. Unlike what another fucker said it's extremely easy to master. Also safety is for pussies.
Welding like this takes practice
its an oxyacetalyn cutting torch, not a welding torch.... the flame is much different from the dispersion cone, theyre not great to weld with
purdy TIG weld
Wrong tip for gas welding moron.
Easy to learn, hard to master.
it has been unWELDy
Gotta wear a hat
The torch pictured is for oxy acetalin cutting you can use a torch similar but with a different tip to not weld but braze and as far as safety being for pussys look up boilermakers it's in the top 10 most dangerous jobs in America today imagine welding but anywhere from 70 to 200 feet in the air safety is definitely not for pussys and welding is easy if you wanna be a shit tier garbage welder who welds out of his garage for all his friends doing shit welds on exaust systems and calling yourself a fabricator
p cool
how'd u get it to turn purple
I don't know where you are, but a lot of community colleges have classes.
He done took my jerb!
Too bad he's not depressing the cutting lever in the picture
Anybody can weld, but it takes a rare and special breed who can weld well.
Depends on the material an oxy cutting tip like that can be good for fast heat transfer on a thick metal and i prefer that tip when welding pipe over 3"
Only took a day
...
>welding is easy if you wanna be a shit tier garbage welder who welds out of his garage for all his friends doing shit welds on exaust systems and calling yourself a fabricator
yeah, that's what i want to do. call myself a welder with minimum effort, get hot welding whores on muh dick.
...
Very easy.
I found some pictures of your welds
>get hot welding whores
Easy to learn. But practice practice practice. Also with pics and vids you can see exactly what you did wrong and try for correction
that's not the cutting lever you fucking idiot. It actually releases oxygen thus cooling and blowing molten metal out of the way, leaving a cut/gouge in the metal.
you know those skanks that hang out in bars near military bases? welding jobs have the same sort of women near the job sites, just not as classy.
Heat. Just heat blue is just past 500f I think. I'm probably wrong tho
My sister wants to get into welding, so I am gonna watch this thread. Takin notes.
Are you talking about 3" thick pipe or 3" diameter? And I'm assuming your talking about using it for a pre heat? I know anything we weld that is at 3/4" or greater and will be running any kind of pressure through it we need to do a pre heat and have it heated throughout the weld process and then do a post weld heat treatment otherwise the metal will become brittle and could fail under pressure
See like this pre heat and post weld heat treatment
...
it not that hard, i'd probably master in to 10 -15 minutes tops
its fucking easy. my dad sat me down infront of 2 pieces of square stock turned on the mig welder and said weld. and I did. so just fucking do it #shialabeoffuckedmygrandmother
What's the pay like?
It does not take a lifetime to master you massive dweeb.
Just stack the coins and watch your puddle
MIG weld = shit try stick welding with 6010 wire over head then tell me how easy it is
He said "lifetine" so chill out nerd
Down not across.
>stick welding
>wire
are you retarded
Flux core MIG is fucking easy. It's like hot glue with metal.
Its called an electrode, you fucking retard. Also, 6010 is probably one of the easiest electrodes to weld with.
Can confirm.
Wtf do you think you call it Einstein? It's stick wire. If you went to a weld supply store and wanted a 50lb box you would ask for a box of stick wire or welding wire. Unless you truly want to be technical then you would call it welding electrodes
right after 7018.
I call it a rod or an electrode. Stick is not a wire.
Depends on what kind of welding you want to do. MIG, TIG, FCAW, or SMAW?
>safety is for pussies
kek
Lol ya, just bump and run
Flux core MIG welding is ok for most home or light duty applications but for heavy construction and the work I do we wouldn't use it. If we were to use a MIG box it would be for seal welding on casing but tube welds we always do a tight root and then weld out with stick
When I was going through welding school, 7018 was my favorite part. It literally pushes itself in flat and horizontal position.
Welding can be hard... And, you can make a fuck ton of money doing it. It a skill.
There is plenty of work too,.. All these limp wristed, faggotized, beta mellenials who think they should make 100k a year out of college because their brainless soccer mom convinced them they're "special" refuse to get their faggy hands dirty.
Roll with it bro.
Not tight root tig root
6010 rod best rod
you're actually fucking retarded.
Welding Rods. They're called rods. Fuck.
Wire comes in rolls. Ever hear of a wire feed welder? Fuck.
Kek
how does someone even do that wtf
If you ever do oxy-acetylene welding, make sure to turn the acetylene past 15psi :-)
anyone wanting to learn welding should do oxy-acetylene first
it gives such an amazing idea of what welding is and how it actually works
DO NOT DO THIS.
8-10 PSI is the safe zone for acetylene. Also only turn the handle on the acetylene container about 1/4th of a turn.
Easy = MIG, SMAW, FCAW
Not so easy = TIG
Carbon is easier to weld than stainless, and both are easier to weld than aluminum. Cast iron is a nightmare to weld, avoid whenever possible.
I could do that in like a week back when I first started. You faggots are glorifying yourselves to hell, the trade isn't that hard people just don't want to do it when they realize it's hot as fuck back breaking work and there is at times a chance that you could get blown up or killed in some way.
kek
This. 40 for oxygen, 5-6 for acetylene
OP, stop being a faggot. Welding is easy as fuck. i earned 3 certifications within 9 months (senior year in highschool) GMAW, TIG & stick welding
Just like oil in your car 10/40 of course we run our shit that high cause of how far we keep our burning rigs away from the work sometimes they are on the ground and we are working 200 feet up in the air
Scott ogle sucks boy cock
But could you pass a heavy wall tube test in a 6g position with a tig root and then stick the rest of the way out and then they xrays the weld? Probably not
i wonder how big carlos is when he gets an erection
Any tig tips? Taking a course next semester. Have minimal experience in tig, I wanna learn to walk the cup and have rainbow welds like see.
harder than my dick on ice.
don't push the rod into the metal too hard, it will slip like a motherfucker. Hold it lightly and keep your hands steady.
TIG welding Aluminium is the fucking hardest, hate doing it. Any sort of welding with steel is piss easy
Rainbow welds. Kek
Op. Find a community college that offers a welding program. Look for one that offers AWS certification. Get a lot of seat time with SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and FCAW. You'll get a good amount of knowledge as to the different welding processes, but lab time is gonna be the most important. If you want to turn this into a career, then go into an apprenticeship. You'll have to do more schooling, but atleast you'll get paid. Welding is only one skill. Unless you are part of the cream of the crop, you'll have to learn an additional skill or two just to be marketable and competitive. If you just want to learn, go on craigs list, buy a Lincoln 250 buzzbox, watch some how to videos, and practice. Good luck brother.
I sincerely doubt that you were able to do consistant stainless pipe welding like that in one week. Maybe a flat T weld joint or something. Either youre lying or embelleshing your welds
>Either youre lying or embelleshing your welds
>them damn kids, they just can't do what I do cause I got EXPERIENCE
Whatever faggot, It's not that hard if you aren't retarded.
I've went through 3 years of welding. 2 in highschool (In a tech college welding shop) and one in the actual college program. I've probably seen 400-500 people come through the shop in that time and after one week, most are lucky if they can even do a 2F lap joint without sticking the tungsten or getting the filler rod stuck. Wirefeed? Sure, not hard to learn the basics in a week. GTAW? Takes at least a month or two of practice to get anywhere near that level. Either youre in the top .00001% of welders that are total naturals or you are a liar.
>Either youre in the top .00001% of welders that are total naturals or you are a liar.
Well then bow down plebian. I completed the entire welding program in one year in highschool dual enrollment, it was easy as piss. I'm in IT now though so don't worry, you can keep your job.
Im glad to hear, one less obnoxious cunt in the shop trying to see what lies he can get away with at the break room table.
No way man 7018
I'm sure it's not easy being outdone by someone who doesn't even like the profession.
You could sound less salty about it though, or you could just be an arrogant bitter old faggot. You'll fit right in with most welders, just remember to hate anyone younger than you and you'll be set.
