Rural USA

Op, you got nothing to complain about, they are lying to the FCC over here.

Unfortunately this is my only real option. This is "broadband" in America. My house isn't part of a municipality...it's on a narrow stretch of land between 2 towns. So despite being 1 mile from a main Comcast hub and adjacent to a major highway down which they run their service lines, they absolutely refuse to service my street which has about 12 homes on it.

It's $30 and has daily service outages because the phone lines on my road were installed in the 1960s. /sigh

> Telekom
> about 50€ for internet and telephone
> Germany, near Düsseldorf
> living in a village with a population of 15k
> jesus I love my internet speed

I have centurylink also. Get the same speed too. It's fucking horrific

Why dont you switch to a good ISP? i dont know much about ISPs in US but isn't there better connections than that?

damn. didnt realize some parts of the US still has shit net.

...

monthly?

because they are the only ones that offer internet in my area, TWC is a mile down the road, and they told the FCC that my plot of land is "uninhabited". So, I will not be getting the "Connect America Plan", and TWC won't be forced to be a competitor becasue as far as uncle same knows, There is only corn. Pretty much fucked.

Sick ping

It's kinda infuriating. I live on a 1/2 mile strip of county land between a city of 50k and a town of 10k. Both of which have access to 30Mbs+ connections. The hub is in the city and to get to the town, Comcast runs their lines down a highway that is directly in front of my house. Still refuse service.

For that reason, the FCC has adopted comprehensive reforms of its Universal Service Fund (USF) and Intercarrier Compensation (ICC) systems to accelerate broadband build-out to the approximately 23 million Americans (as of December 31, 2013) who lack access to infrastructure capable of providing 10/1 Mbps fixed broadband.

Cant believe 10 down/1 up is acceptable!!!!

I think you are missing the "uninhabited" part. The US Gov. Won't make them build any lines if no one is there.

My laptop is only 3 years old, but the wifi card can't pick up the 5ghz band so I cant use that. Any way to speed it up?

London, Virgin Media, 60mbs, £80/month inc TV, internet, phone

Okay, here's the question though, if I'm apparently getting 49mbs, why the fuck can't I download at 49mbs?
The highest I've seen is about 4mbs, it just seems to cap there

Are you sure the 4Mb/s isn't 4MB/s? There's a big difference.

because 49Mbps is about 5MBps.

not too shabby
