But you dont just start out as a machinist you have to start at the bottom and work up. No one wants to hire someone with no experiance and put them in front of a million dollar machine running $50,000 parts and tell them to go at it. No, you start pushing a broom or working as an assembler, move into machine operator then into other machining work.
