Allen Blickle is a totally slept-on drummer, shame he left Baroness.
i was just thinking about both of these and their drumming today.
lombardo is perfect.
I agree, his drumming pretty much carried Red Album where it was otherwise meh, not to mention the outright explosive drumming on Blue

skill at playing one (and only one) style of music? great he can play to dream theater tunes, but ever heard him play anything other than arena rock? because that dude blows and is a terrible fit otherwise. even the musically inept can see and hear the difference between someone like tony vs mike in the way that they approach playing the drums.
...
I think he's complimented perfectly by Jones' subtlety, Chancellor's groove and Keenan's enigmatic lyrics / vocal range.

LoG's first three as LoG
besides everything else about it.
I disagree, in Tool the drumming drives the music. Its the perfect band for him to shine because the guitar playing is very simple for metal. Plus Maynard is a great singer, so its not like he's completely surrounded by amateurs.
first one that came to mind

>Not Hypermagic Mountain
"And we've flown in at great expense--triple scale, no less--ladies and gentlemen, Steve Gadd's clone to play the out-chorus on this song. He's really outta sight."

God-tier drum sound as well
He's talented for sure. Sadly Meshuggah haven't done anything interesting with their songs in a while now. Ah well, that's why other artists and bands exist.
De-Loused and Amp have amazing drumming too. Theodore is the man.
>mfw I'll never see dillinger live with gil sharone
brand new Zao is kinda similar to this.
Stone Roses had a fucking awesome rhythm section considering it was just two random blokes from Manchester.
