Chainsmokers "Closer" starts playing

>Chainsmokers "Closer" starts playing

It's one of those songs I absolutely just can't understand the appeal, which I usually can for most pop songs. It's absolute trash and unoriginal but also just not catchy as a result.

roses is good

>The Chainsmokers tarnished the name of Joy Division's best album

...

Cringe dude

>I like techno
Oh cool do you like Actress and OPN?
>Who? I like the Chainsmokers!

hey

and NIN's best song

i enjoy a lot of retarded pop music but i still am not able to find the appeal at all here

it's just so awful

yeah a lot of people have no fucken idea what techno is

really tho, zedd is much worse than the chainsmokers. the chainsmokers actually put on good sets back in 2012. someone took note of that (a wealthier person than me), and here they are.

>Black Beatles
>One Night
>Closer
Anons help me make a list of shitty songs that somehow became chart toppers

GUTDOL

H E A T H E N S

Good god I feel like the local Habit where I live only plays two songs: Closer and Heathens

it's like street romance modern day romeo+juliet garbage.. i think thats the appeal, people really like love songs and it's different in that regard

Just listened, it's rather catchy. I feel like it would get old after like 3.5 listens, though.

just look at any kidz bop from here to the year 2000

The cutting synthline during the chorus IS the track. Without it, this track would be another nothing, washed away with the stream.

it's just pure, pure garbage with no merit whatsoever, yet it gets so popular

Wow, just like most top 20 pop music? Who woulda thunk it?

your point being? the synthline is catchy, song is popular, in a week it'll be forgotten.

stop complaining, this thread is so cringey.

My roommate has this song playing all the fucking time.

Wow, seems like suicide is the only answer.

Just kidding, you should either get over it or just tell them you hate the song. Not that hard.

Take a screwdriver and stick it through his speaker.

>OPN
>TECHNO
!!!

The point being that they are supposed to be very good at making poppy catchy tracks but the whole track sucks except for that part! What other chainsmokers track do you know?

Saw Zedd at a festival (he was on the stage before Outkast) and it was definitely the worst show I had ever seen

none, i don't really listen to that type of music. just seems like such a dumb thing to complain about.

>24k Magic starts playing

My man Bruno back at it again
That track is fire

Bruno is actually good pop music.

Roses is actually the single worst song of all time

Normies think the story line is deep and they can play it at parties/hangouts because it isn't experimental in any way. It's the same reason people like Twenty One Pilots

>Chainsmokers - Roses ft. Rozes
>Roses ft. Rozes

INDUSTRY PLANT

user, I...

>Starboy starts playing

Yeah fuck that guy. He tweeted about Aphex Twin and IDM being irrelevant and that no one cares about them anymore.

>Anything mainstream starts playing

>A lonely night starts playing

PUT YO PINKIE RINGS UP TO THE MOOOON

>heathens starts playing

>normies think the story line is deep

this

>Only Shallow starts playing

Heathens is actually objectively good though

All my friends are heathens, take it slow
[silence]
[slowly increasing drumming]
WOW
Pop pop, it's show time (show time)
Show time (show time)
Guess who's back again?
All my friends are heathens, take it slow

>Heathens is actually objectively good though
no it isn't

yes it is

It's generic as all hell dude

>retard shoving the mic in his mouth and pretending he can do a falsetto while rapping tumblrcore lyrics over generic electronic is objectively good tho

Also, those lyrics are some MONSTER CRINGE

Twenty One Pilots in general is awful. It's the kind of music that makes me physically unsettled.

>Side to Side by Ariana Grande starts playing

>tfw I have heard OF these songs but never actually heard them

I saw Zedd at Bonnaroo a few years ago and actually had a really fun time. His electro house stuff is pretty good and his big hits were a lot of fun to sing along with. Nothing I'd listen to on my own though, and fuck him for talking shit about Aphex Twin.

I really don't mind that song despite how generic and repetitive it is, but god Nicki Minaj's verse serves NO purpose whatsoever.

It's actually still great though.

it's genre bending

...

it bends the genre over the table and rapes it

>based on 5 reviews
This shouldn't even be allowed

what genre though?

it doesn't have one.

and it's pretty great.

Well it is, so deal with it.

DICK
BICYCLE

>it doesn't have one.
It's fucking obvious it is pop rap.

And even for those standards, it's pretty shit.

no

>based on 5 reviews
disregarded

so baby put me closer at the bakcseat of your rover

Yeah, it counts.

This is fact and you cannot deny this.

Sorry.

It's actually really good.

You can not even enjoy this song as a cute little 21 pilots song that is trendy nowadays like Stressed Out. You can barely understand what he is saying during the verses because of that retarded mixing and the way it is delivered is so weak and tired. Also, that fucking retarded high pitched voice on that back is so annoying. And WHAT THE FUCK is up with the frog?

Stressed Out is likeable.
This one is unbearable.

>Yeah, it counts.
>This is fact and you cannot deny this.
>Sorry.
Except it doesn't. It's only 5 reviews, and let's not forget who those fucking reviewers are, faggot.

>based on 5 reviews
disregarded

>reviews by Alternative Press, Kerrang!, Sputnikmusic, Austin Chronicle, and Billboard
D R O P P E D

lol, even Billboard, who give very positive reviews to shitty records, was like "nope, this ain't that good."

Are you illiterate? I got the lyrics on first listen.

It does. Please stop crying and pissing yourself over this.

It was a well received album by both critics and fans. You will never change this.

>Are you illiterate? I got the lyrics on first listen.
No, I just don't have the hearing of a dog nor the investment of a tumblerina.

>denial

>It was a well received album by money being passed under the table and pleb teenagers

What are the odds

blurryface does not care what you think

>It was a well received album by both critics and fans who love 21 Pilots
Ftfy. Check its score on RYM.

>buzzword buzzword buzzword

opinion trashed.

Lying isn't healthy.

>It's a conspiracy DUDE, not just people simply enjoying good music that relates it them. ITS ALL A LIE, WAKE UP SHEEPLE.

lol.

He does.

>RYM

fucking kek.

i'd rather listen to roses a billion times before listening to closer once

*breathes heavily*

I hate the smug pseudo-intellectuals fucks who think they have a better taste in music than everyone around them just cause they listen to fucking 21 pilots.

Was this officially the worst year in pop music?

>tfw

nah, there was some real gems

>2004

*vomits*

>dog
>buzzword

>keks on RYM
>checks metacritic

>obvious industry plant being pushed down our throats
>"conspiracy"

this level of dickriding

shit was lit, desu

don't be so closeminded, and stop looking in the mirror after lunch

>looking in the mirror after lunch

We used to be good at this, but now we have only 3rd grade bullshit

>DUDE ITS A CONSPIRACY I S-SWEAR

These dudes worked their way up from grassroots and self-released 2 albums and toured out of a van for years.

They are anything but industry plants.

>We used to be good at this

no we weren't.

>They are anything but industry plants.
doesn't make them any good tho

lil yachty is great tho

are you literally 13 years old?

>always play music from my phone when driving
>have absolutely no friends so i'm never exposed to this shit
>so out of touch with my generation because i don't use any social media

I can't decide if this is a good or bad thing.

ive been on both sides

it's mostly a good thing

aside from the loneliness

never heard of them

>Never heard of the Chainsmokers
Consider yourself lucky

This is how I used to be, totally unaware and felt like I'd been left behind. So when I finished highschool I set out to understand mainstream culture. I'm understand it now. I didn't miss much.

I actually like a part of that song. The kind of glitchy part of the melody after the chorus that sounds kind of like old video game music. The rest of the song is pretty bad though.

both closer and roses are objectively good and well-produced catchy songs

...

The song describes literally half the people I know who dropped out of college and work at Olive Garden waiting tables
