I've never stumbled across a genre that I find more displeasing than death metal. The only album I've liked has been From Mars To Sirius, and even then you could chalk that up to the prog elements. Could anyone change my mind? I feel like the genre could have potential, but so much of it is just mindlessness that I can't take it.

>Don't recommend pic related or any of death's progressive lbums, I've heard them

Check this out boi

The guitar just sounds like it's in an edgy tuning and the vocals sound like a dog person.

you just dont like it senpai

If you don't like Death you don't like death metal. You'll just have to accept that.

I've only ever liked Death and Necrophagist, so maybe try the latter, Morbid Angel is good too

I like a bit of death, sometimes they repeat too much

listen to at the gates

Bolt Thrower is the best death metal band of all time, and I'm not inexperienced.

It really depends on what kind of metal (in this case, death) you lean on or the kinds of sounds you like to hear. I'll leave you some recs that could be helpful.

Calling SYL death metal is a pretty huge stretch.

Most of the metal I listen to is noise metal, black, and doom.

youtube.com/watch?v=CvHFUUe9nYc

Do you not like death? Specifically your pic?

Try melodic death metal aka melodeath.

This guy listed one, but I would probably start with something mellower like In Flames.

youtube.com/watch?v=OV3t5VN1m5A

Death metal is not without merit, seriously. If you can get into it you'll be having an excellent time, there's loads of fantastic material.

youtube.com/watch?v=PjAOXyz8Opg

youtube.com/watch?v=5WKg-sVamqg

Symbolic is good. A bit of everything human and post human is good. Specifically the song symbolic is good.

Try atheist's unquestionable presence if you like prog/jazz with fucked time signatures

youtube.com/watch?v=iNSl0Gtb8YI

youtube.com/watch?v=uKsVuLR0u9w

Yeah then I'd recommend Athiest its very different I'd approach it more like jazz with death metal vocals.

youtube.com/watch?v=0NScFA-zy68

youtube.com/watch?v=OED3eWm_Tfs

Specifically the tracks psychic saw and mother man if you can

Horrendous - Ecdysis
Kataklysm - Mystical Gate of Reincarnation (you won't like the vocals, but the music is fairly wild and complex while still brutal)
Mithras - On Strange Loops

Kind of good but a bit too nightwishy
Fucking great but the vocals are kind of monotone
Good I guess
No
Kind of cool
Fucking lovely

>Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
>Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
>Pestilence - Consuming Impulse
>Pentagram - Under The Spell of the Pentagram

2/2

To me, they feel a lot more death metal than they feel thrash, especially on City, Alien and the self-titled which is the most death metal influenced and the least industrial of all.

youtube.com/watch?v=wsbVOcaT4-c

youtube.com/watch?v=zXv-acWqp9M

Ok I see what you like I'd recommend obscura's albums cosmogenesis and omnivium but not Akròasis you might like all three but for sure check out omnivium

youtube.com/watch?v=671XlOhszvo

Specifically the track a transcendental serenade

I tried for years and found all the sacred cows of the genre to be dog shit except for

youtube.com/watch?v=w2C0a2wVv5c

It honestly sounds like you're into metal for the wrong reasons. You care more for "muh atmosphere" or some kind of progressive elements rather than an intense delivery of riffs. Not saying your way of enjoying things is wrong, but that you can't seem to so far enjoy what metal fundamentally offers as a genre, and what death metal takes up to 11.

That being said if you want more atmosphere or progressive aspects to death metal, then perhaps you might enjoy:

Opeth: youtube.com/watch?v=S1KPqet74EI

Cynic: youtube.com/watch?v=5_09IAg12q8

Katatonia (just on this album though): youtube.com/watch?v=r5tW9fekzJo

Although I think death metal certainly has its fair share of progressive bands that still bring the riffs like death metal should. Maybe you'll find some love for

Demilich: youtube.com/watch?v=XxizB02d0gE

Gorguts: youtube.com/watch?v=CuOGTKLSSKU

Immolation: youtube.com/watch?v=_KfXmkiwHDA

Ulcerate: youtube.com/watch?v=ev4PS7Fk6j8

Timeghoul: youtube.com/watch?v=oDbAQRMG4zE

!T.O.O.H!: youtube.com/watch?v=Egw9BCKjHqk

>Nightwish came six (6) years after In Flames

Just letting you know, son. Just letting you know.

On top of this I'll recommend the band beyond creation specifically the track omnipresent perception
>link to music video
m.youtube.com/watch?v=pa_t-RACeUU

If you're into noisier and blacker stuff you might wanna check out Revenge's discography, Pissgrave's Suicide Euphoria, Archgoat's The Apocalyptic Triumphator and Black Witchery's Inferno of Sacred Destruction.

I am aware
I do like riffs
Forgot to mention I like Mevlins, Black Sabbath, and early metallica, despite none of them being nowhere near death metal.

You seem to like death metal heavily influenced by prog and jazz I can probably help more than what I have

Do not miss these gems

Listen to Opeth you #1 prog faggot.
Still life is the best

What are thoughts on TBDM?

>Forgot to mention I like Mevlins, Black Sabbath, and early metallica
But those bands deliver the riffs in a relatively slow, easy to digest way. Death metal's pummeling you with far more riffs at a much faster and more intense in general rate, making it overall harder to process and take in than those bands. It's like the difference between traditional jazz and bebop.

That's why he's probably asking for stuff more palatable like prog stuff (although not Palatable for most it is an already acquired taste of OP's making it the route to introduce new ideas through.) that's why I recommended athiest obscura's and beyond creation.

I don't like prog just some elements of it.
I'm actually retarded for not realizing this. Well that'll make it easier for me to decipher at the least.

Maybe some slower death metal?
youtube.com/watch?v=NaAZ9N6UGZg
youtube.com/watch?v=WdKMTc9m_tE

...

>tfw I can no longer enjoy riffs for riffs sake

What happened?

I love riffs.

Sounds like a sad story...
To >>>r9k if feels brought you here

Kek to

Death metal is awesome, you're probably just listening to it wrong.

We've established that he was.

Tomb of the mutilated has an epic album cover the only time the alternate cover was better than the original was on the bleeding

Oh, carry on then.

This is the Bleeding cover I have

youtube.com/watch?v=xjKyzwqIT7s

maybe some classical blended death metal?

That's the alternative to my knowledge

How could mu possible help you understand death metal. You have to have very little taste. And should hate almost all kinds of music. the ratio is an exception. People forget that thrash metal bands helped star death metal. And death should of died out when thrash metal died out. Do you understand the brady bunch. I doubt any one you know has lived through any thing that gay.

>it's just mindless
Well yeah, that's kind of the aesthetic. You typically don't listen to metal for complexity, you listen for riffs and atmosphere. If you're going into a black metal, death metal, sludge metal, doom metal, or whatever metal album and expecting something massively progressive and complex, you're going to be disappointed. And once you have a lot of experience with metal, you'll start realizing that the massively technically complex stuff is normally the most bland.

Black metal is clearly the superior extreme form of metal music. Death is trash for high schoolers.

You're just a pleb who can't handle harsh sounds yet.

>Death metal is clearly the superior extreme form of metal music. Black is trash for high schoolers.

boi if u dont get

try this, OP : youtube.com/watch?v=rKevUGKPtIQ

That's because 99% of death metal that /mu praises so much is pure garbage for edgy hipsters. It's not '''heavy''' or '''brutal''', it's just repetitive and boring

If this album won't change your mind, then don't bother at all.

...

What are some bands that nail a similar feel to dISEMBOWELMENT's muffled agonizingly-slow-or-kinda-fast disjointed death metal?

>Progressive death metal

Not death metal, but maybe Darkspace?

Try Morgion - Among Majestic Ruins

New album soon

Check these

literally my favourite meme chart

>whitechapel

fucking dropped

it's a meme you dip

> Pitchshifter
> Industrial death Metal

> Anaal Nathrakh
> Industrial death metal

Well Anaal Nathrakh are black/grindcore and fuck knows what Pitchshifter are but they aren't death faggot.

Triptykon are blackend thrash - how the fuck dd you come up with death doom?

Christ you are shit at this.

This nigga, I'm bout to slap u op. Gatecreeper is fucking noice. At least listen to pic related

Bolt Thrower fucking slaps

There's no jazz in this, or in Cynic

Also this op

>edgy tuning

you need to eat shit

OP back again.
This guys just dug into my musical mentality back when I started hating pop music and trying to find an alternative. Though that alternative turned out to be fucking marilyn manson, I just always thought that metal was supposed to be more complex.
Fucking christ I would have never expected this thread to blow me open but here we have you and

Didn't I say I listen to harsh noise? And not just memebow

>the vocals sound like a dog person
Give up folks, the thread shouldn't have progressed past this point

I completely agree that it has potential to be boring as fuck, especially when it comes to old school stuff. Tremelo sections should have stayed in black metal, it did death metal NO favors.

Op again
Fuck you I liked Possessed

Wait a minute, so you made a thread about not liking death metal but you like the album that gave death metal its sound and name?

Yes, seven churches is bretty good

>or in cynic

you were half right man. focus is almost a straight up jazz fusion record

Psycroptic - Scepter of the Ancients if you like riffs

hey check this you won't regret

youtube.com/watch?v=94ipkWKXOL0

That was awesome

There's more jazz in their album Elements.

youtube.com/watch?v=effRJTEzfnk

It's hard to argue this isn't jazz dude.

Psychology is so good. Lucky I got to see them this summer in my redneck ass town

polka punk is more disappointing than death metal.
