I've never stumbled across a genre that I find more displeasing than death metal. The only album I've liked has been From Mars To Sirius, and even then you could chalk that up to the prog elements. Could anyone change my mind? I feel like the genre could have potential, but so much of it is just mindlessness that I can't take it.
>Don't recommend pic related or any of death's progressive lbums, I've heard them
The guitar just sounds like it's in an edgy tuning and the vocals sound like a dog person.
Dominic Clark
you just dont like it senpai
Daniel Garcia
If you don't like Death you don't like death metal. You'll just have to accept that.
Noah Phillips
I've only ever liked Death and Necrophagist, so maybe try the latter, Morbid Angel is good too
Ayden Flores
I like a bit of death, sometimes they repeat too much
Grayson Lee

Jacob Stewart
Bolt Thrower is the best death metal band of all time, and I'm not inexperienced.
Levi Bailey
It really depends on what kind of metal (in this case, death) you lean on or the kinds of sounds you like to hear. I'll leave you some recs that could be helpful.

To me, they feel a lot more death metal than they feel thrash, especially on City, Alien and the self-titled which is the most death metal influenced and the least industrial of all.
Ok I see what you like I'd recommend obscura's albums cosmogenesis and omnivium but not Akròasis you might like all three but for sure check out omnivium
It honestly sounds like you're into metal for the wrong reasons. You care more for "muh atmosphere" or some kind of progressive elements rather than an intense delivery of riffs. Not saying your way of enjoying things is wrong, but that you can't seem to so far enjoy what metal fundamentally offers as a genre, and what death metal takes up to 11.
That being said if you want more atmosphere or progressive aspects to death metal, then perhaps you might enjoy:
Although I think death metal certainly has its fair share of progressive bands that still bring the riffs like death metal should. Maybe you'll find some love for
Just letting you know, son. Just letting you know.
Owen Ward
On top of this I'll recommend the band beyond creation specifically the track omnipresent perception >link to music video m.youtube.com/watch?v=pa_t-RACeUU
Brandon Butler
If you're into noisier and blacker stuff you might wanna check out Revenge's discography, Pissgrave's Suicide Euphoria, Archgoat's The Apocalyptic Triumphator and Black Witchery's Inferno of Sacred Destruction.
Jonathan Sanders
I am aware I do like riffs Forgot to mention I like Mevlins, Black Sabbath, and early metallica, despite none of them being nowhere near death metal.
Anthony Cooper
You seem to like death metal heavily influenced by prog and jazz I can probably help more than what I have
Andrew Clark
Do not miss these gems
Brayden Carter
Listen to Opeth you #1 prog faggot. Still life is the best
Ian Hughes
What are thoughts on TBDM?
Carter Sanchez
>Forgot to mention I like Mevlins, Black Sabbath, and early metallica But those bands deliver the riffs in a relatively slow, easy to digest way. Death metal's pummeling you with far more riffs at a much faster and more intense in general rate, making it overall harder to process and take in than those bands. It's like the difference between traditional jazz and bebop.
Jason Adams
That's why he's probably asking for stuff more palatable like prog stuff (although not Palatable for most it is an already acquired taste of OP's making it the route to introduce new ideas through.) that's why I recommended athiest obscura's and beyond creation.
Levi Jones
I don't like prog just some elements of it. I'm actually retarded for not realizing this. Well that'll make it easier for me to decipher at the least.
How could mu possible help you understand death metal. You have to have very little taste. And should hate almost all kinds of music. the ratio is an exception. People forget that thrash metal bands helped star death metal. And death should of died out when thrash metal died out. Do you understand the brady bunch. I doubt any one you know has lived through any thing that gay.
Jaxson Powell
>it's just mindless Well yeah, that's kind of the aesthetic. You typically don't listen to metal for complexity, you listen for riffs and atmosphere. If you're going into a black metal, death metal, sludge metal, doom metal, or whatever metal album and expecting something massively progressive and complex, you're going to be disappointed. And once you have a lot of experience with metal, you'll start realizing that the massively technically complex stuff is normally the most bland.
Justin Taylor
Black metal is clearly the superior extreme form of metal music. Death is trash for high schoolers.
Angel Scott
You're just a pleb who can't handle harsh sounds yet.
Alexander White
>Death metal is clearly the superior extreme form of metal music. Black is trash for high schoolers.
That's because 99% of death metal that /mu praises so much is pure garbage for edgy hipsters. It's not '''heavy''' or '''brutal''', it's just repetitive and boring
Angel Roberts
If this album won't change your mind, then don't bother at all.
Jeremiah Gomez

What are some bands that nail a similar feel to dISEMBOWELMENT's muffled agonizingly-slow-or-kinda-fast disjointed death metal?
Liam Myers
>Progressive death metal
Hudson Martinez
Not death metal, but maybe Darkspace?
Jayden Reyes
Try Morgion - Among Majestic Ruins
Joseph Torres

OP back again. This guys just dug into my musical mentality back when I started hating pop music and trying to find an alternative. Though that alternative turned out to be fucking marilyn manson, I just always thought that metal was supposed to be more complex. Fucking christ I would have never expected this thread to blow me open but here we have you and
Jaxon Rodriguez
Didn't I say I listen to harsh noise? And not just memebow
Joshua Jones
>the vocals sound like a dog person Give up folks, the thread shouldn't have progressed past this point
Brody Rivera
I completely agree that it has potential to be boring as fuck, especially when it comes to old school stuff. Tremelo sections should have stayed in black metal, it did death metal NO favors.
Ethan Campbell
Op again Fuck you I liked Possessed
Caleb Gomez
Wait a minute, so you made a thread about not liking death metal but you like the album that gave death metal its sound and name?
Dominic Nelson
Yes, seven churches is bretty good
Mason Phillips
>or in cynic
you were half right man. focus is almost a straight up jazz fusion record
Charles Nelson
Psycroptic - Scepter of the Ancients if you like riffs
