Isn't this show based on a movie from the 70's played by Malcolm McDowell?

Tripe:
Television series based on films
Anything by Shonda Rhimes
Anything starring Kevin James

a beloved movie by Nicholas Meyer who also wrote the best Star Trek movie ever

i don't disagree with you one bit but does ANY of this not look like shit

these all sound terrible, but the dog one is extra ridiculous

conviction is the only one that sounds vaguely interesting but the odds of a procedural being good is low

so many of these tv shows end up shit and get cancelled after two seasons because the writers take an idea that would be best for a film and that isn't exactly open enough to take anywhere

>STILL STARCROSSED
>>Following the tragic deaths of Romeo and Juliet, their cousins, Benvolio (Wade Briggs) and Rosaline (Lashana Lynch), are forced into marriage to subside the conflict between the Montagues and the Capulets, but unlike their relatives, they have nothing but contempt for one another.
>Lashana Lynch

WE WUZ FAIR VERONA N SHIT

>McGUYER
>Brilliant young troublemaker Angus McGuyer (Lucas Till) is recruited by a shadowy organization that employs his problem-solving skills to avert catastrophes.
is this a troll?

This might actually be the worst slate of upcoming shows I've ever seen. There is not one that doesn't sound like a parody.

All of this plus THE FLASH and LEGENDS OF TOMORROW?

When did time travel become so popular?

retconned so they can bring the show back

Trailer for Time After Time looked absolutely shithouse

Timeless looked like it has potential

Yep.

>The trials and tribulations of a young woman, Nam (Allison Tolman), attempting to navigate the professional world and dating scene, with narrations provided by her dog, who has his own "confession cam".

My god, the other networks aren't terrible, but all of ABC's shows sound like complete horseshit. It is ABC though, and I don't think I've watched an ABC show since I was a teenage in the 00s.

Agreed. TV execs must have fucking thousands of pitches to choose from, and this is what they put into production. It doesn't make any sense.

Posting until it eventually gets made.

>Black Box

Clancy Brown and Mark Pellegrino are two pilots flying through a well known spooky corridor known for circumstances similar to Bermuda triangle. One day they receive a radio single for help which they play off as a nearby base requesting for help, Clancy Brown gives away vital historical information like the allies winning the war and all the things leading up to the 20th century. When they emerge through a strange cloud Brown and Pellegrino find themselves in a radically altered united states, the USA is balkanized and at war with one another similar to how the USA is at war. They are adopted by the independent state of New York and are assigned to go on spying missions in several rogue states, Clancy Brown learns his character went missing in Russian still owned Alaska while Pellegrino learns his family are all dead after an accident. Brown swears to get them both them, After spying for the ISONY Brown and Pellegrino are shipped to Florida where they meet John Tito who is with the Fighting Diamond Backs.

Would Sup Forums watch? 6 seasons maximum and it ends kind of similar to Quantim Leap on an ambiguous note

Opening them is The Majestic by Wax Fang

It's ok if it's to set the narrative there were blacks in 1300 Northern Italy.

>someone thought this was what they wanted to put on primetime television
Wew lad

WE WUZ MERCHANTS AND NOBLES AND SHIEEET

Powerless sounds kinda funny

>Time after Time
I swear to god this was a movie once, with Malcom McDowell and Christopher Reeves.

>Son of Zorn
This might actually have some potential.

>SON OF ZORN

>SON OF ZORN
>>Animated barbarian warrior Zorn (voiced by Jason Sudeikis), comes home for the first time in 10 years to his live-action son Chris (Johnny Pemberton) and ex-wife Gail (Cheryl Hines), and finds that reconnecting with his family, struggling through his mundane office job and dealing with the banality of suburban life is much harder than waging actual war in his distant world.
This doesn't sound horrible, and Cheryl is a milf.

Like three shows that are basically: "Wow, raising a family is harder than my job!"
Son of Zorn, Man With A Plan, Kevin Can't Wait.

I meant to say how the USA is at war with it self similar to how it was with the USSR during the Cold War and Brown swears he will get both characters home.

Pellgrino ends up going crazy because he learns his family is dead in this timleline. Brown learns his daughter who had terminal cancer in the pervious timeline is all alive and well in the current timeline, kind of like the Twilight Zone episode The Parallel

sounds kinda retarded but still better than most of the trash posted here

>how is this not a comedy?
It's a really dumb concept, but I agree, a comedy is the only way to save it. Really more of a movie than a tv show though.

Fuck off, we haven't even heard the voice of the dog yet.

>doesn't make any sense
they're producing proven shit that works with already build-in fanbase
it's like a license to print money for the tv execs

I don't fucking care, it's so dumb. Maybe, MAYBE if it was cable I could let it slide as a very out of the box R-rated version could work in the kind of way that Wilfred did.

Also Clancy Brown wins an Emmy for playing himself twice in one episode when he goes to Russian owned Alaska and finds himself working at an oil rig.

>The lives of an average middle-class family which finds endearingly unorthodox solutions for the challenges of raising a special needs child.
normalizing dysgenics is so heartwarming

Look, there's nothing I want more than a weekly fun buddy cop show, but like the Rush Hour thing, I can already see this bombing.

>they're producing proven shit that works with already build-in fanbase
In a lot of these cases they're not. It's incredibly easy to pick out premises here that have absolutely no chance of being successful.

>FURST BORN (Comedy)
>>Young mother Bess Taylor (Poppy Montgomery) learns she was adopted and that her birth parents, Wayne (John Caroll Lynch) and Julie (Katey Segal) Furst, are a flamboyant but loving family of drag-racers.
Holy shit, I had no idea they were doing an American remake of Upper Middle Bogan.

But that's Dog with a Blog

>IMAGINARY MARY

>IMAGINARY FRIEND

I like it when you get competing concepts for a show. They should do this more often.

I'd wish they would make a show where they had one script, but then made 4 different pilots of it with different casts and directors and we could see who did it best.

>Who the hell is watching them?
Almost certainly no one. This is why the majority of them won't get a second season. I haven't watched network television in god damn years.

FOX

CHARITY CHASE (Comedy)
>Socialite Hailey Chase (Courteney Cox) inherits her late billionaire husband's charity, and quickly finds that changing the world is far less glamorous than she had imagined.

>How are there so many shows?

How many of these shows got a chance at being renewed? I'm surprised they don't screen more for shows that actually have the potential to reach syndication. I don't see how their could be multiple seasons of something like Frequency, plot would be exhausted too quickly.

That's on the FX.

sleepy hollow but in new york with even more flash backs

>second season

Over half won't even get the back 9 episodes picked up.

Networks are terrified of taking risks. That's why there are so many common traits in the shows. I caught random snippets from comments about that CI remake and NBC went from saying they wanted to get into the primetime soap genre. Then when it came time for pickups, they didn't because they said it didn't fit with what they ordered.

Network tv fucking loves time travel/alternate dimension shit, this isn't new. This does seem like fucking overload, though.

>POWERLESS
>>The lives of a group of employees in an insurance company in a world filled with superheroes and supervillains.
Kill me

This is gonna be radically bad

The Cruel Intentions one NBC made to pilot. Apparently got good reviews and had internal support, but didn't fit their mold.

I'm not saying it would've been good, mind you, just using it as an example of how these networks operate.

These are both atrociously bad.

>got good reviews and had internal support, but didn't fit their mold.
What does this mean? How could it have internal support, but still not fit their mold? What is their mold?
