Yes, Holland had more quips. He also had more of a sense of wonder about him in costume, as well as feeling like an actual teenager for the first time in five movies. There was nothing relatable about Tobey, he was like a nerdy caricature from an eighties boner movie. Real kids don't act like that. Real nerds don't act like that.
The original SM trilogy is fine as a campy adventure, but there's nothing relatable about the characters, because none of them are real people. My problem with Tobey's portrayal is literally just what you said - he isn't an everyman. I've never meet anyone like that.

Tobey didn't come across as obnoxious, he barely joked at all. Spiderman is supposed to be the character all the other Avengers tell to shut up and take things seriously. The charisma blackhole that was Tobey's performance would feel completely out of place in a Marvel film.

Rewatch the scene where he fighting Bucky and Black Falcon specifically. The way he moves seems more evocative of a spider than the previous movies, similar to how Black Panther has a ton of catlike poses and mannerisms for seemingly no reason. It makes them seem more alien and weird.
