Were late 90s early 2000s teen movies peak comfiness? What is it that made them so unique and hasn't been replicated since them?

I imagine my cock between their lips

The jews still let whites make music.

post your late90sfu

hard mode: no shannyn sossamon

I loved cruel intentions, the upper class angle was a unique appealing selling point for me and the dialogue was witty. Sarah Michelle Geller was my first jewaifu. Why does this sit on an average rating on IMDB?

I miss them. The last one (that wasn't an American Pie sequel) that got any real attention was Sex Drive.

Pretty good but now imagine my cock between their lips

They can't be replicated because the attitudes were different back then.

9/11 changed everything man.

>Sex Drive

pfffhahahahahaha sorry man that late 2000s drivel doesn't compare

Oh no, I agree. It's just the last 'teen sex comedy' that I can remember being big.

For you.

watching these movies growing up has ruined our brains by creating unrealistic expectations of life

Imagine my cock between your cocks

list ten movies that use flagpole sitta, just try

would rather not imagine any of your cocks to be honest
... just watch the characters doing awsome stuff

The '60s was a period of major change, where people broke free from the repressive cultural norms. There was a positive atmosphere, but still heavily rooted in old fashioned values. Most songs were about innocent love or against war.

The '70s was a 'return to roots' where things got a bit more mild. Everything felt a bit more tired and cynical.

I don't know what happened in the '80s but shit got crazy for a second. It's like the nation ascended into a collective dream of fantasy.

The '90s rode on the '80s and was by far the most optimistic of the decades so far. You still had people singing about drug addictions and shit, but it was no longer framed as depressing as it was in the '70s.

the 80's were infested with sleazy commercialism

>peak comfiness

To me, it's pretty close. They're not great movies, but Can't Hardly Wait and other shit like that is always relaxing to me.

Trojan War too, even though no one's heard of it.

J Love forever

I don't know about that.

Then again I'm seeing the '80s through the lens of Michael Jackson, The Neverending Story, Labyrinth, Starship, stuff like THIS: youtube.com/watch?v=6P23c9KO5uY

And whoever thought this would make a good music video: youtube.com/watch?v=lcOxhH8N3Bo

Also you had zany stuff like:

The early to mid 2000's were really an extension of the comfy 90's, until social media came along to turn everything into a sound bite and hookup culture and fucked everything in the ass.

I never understood how come she never had really hairy arms, considering the hairline and ethnicity. Maybe she was one of the first to wax even before she became famous?

Anybody else noticed that the main guy in the beggining in the movie, right after the title, he stops his car like a retard? bumping up to the sidewalk.
can't post webm though, sorry

Selma Blair > Sara M. Gellar > blond bitch

Agree with you there. But Sex Drive is great.

This. California is the center for everything, movies, art, tech industry.

Why do americans hate it so much?

I didn't know it's her I loved. I was still in my blonde phase

It's the birthplace of political correctness.

Besides Hackers and Girls Interrupted there was this thing
I agree with someone from the last thread that late 90s had a special definition of cool

>Harvey danger never got the recognition they deserved and are only remembered as a one hit wonder
Sponge too.

Weird movie that fits weird genres

you are now manually feeling 13 years old with a crush on the girl who sits in front of you

>weird genres
It was a coming of age movie with lycanthropy serving as a metaphor for becoming a woman.

Brick is a throwback to this era imo

>tfw will never relive 1999

Why go on.

You queer? That sounds exactly like something a pole smoker would say

>britbong comedy
>IM NOT SICK BUT IM NOT WELL starts playing

The girl on the left looks strangely like a guy I saw from other comedies

These movies and shows were a soulless stepback from early nineties stuff. But they were also bred by that era, especially Beverly Hills. It was an extremely poor crop of young actors and people directing them made Aaron Spelling look benevolent. There's a clear line going from Beverly Hills through Buffy and OC into clickbait reality show era shopping mall muzak stuff like Vampire Diaries and whatnot.

They were all creative voids prepared for the 'feels' crowd churned out by diploma factories to nest in. Any attempt at finding Xanadu in the parking lots of America is doomed to fail when it purposefully neglects the desert of meaning surrounding its plots and characters. It's profoundly alien, factory track stuff to myself. Maybe they got you at an vulnerable age, I can imagine Jennifer Lawrence spellbound in front of a Sony Trinitron, gazing, processing.

Do you have a blog? I would read your blog.

No but thank you user

>'feels' crowd
Where do we go from there then?

Neve Campbell the GOAT

>were the movies I grew up with the peak of [things i liked]?

wow what an amazing question

Nowhere, it's nothing new, it's just how the content they insert themselves in is peddled. More than two centuries ago you had Walpole and all other horrible 'gothic novel' writers, bored in their ugly affluent towers. And recently you had a similar strain of nothingness in Twilight movies. Kristen Stewart is an ideal romantic heroine in that regard, a fidgety creature lacking all but all-pervading anxiety that makes her easy to identify with, less content the better.

Ever since Elvis, or hell - Valentino or Byron or whoever, the industry has found ways to market youth hysteria into shoddier and shoddier forms for ever amounting profit. Currently shows flash hashtag signals, next step will hopefully be some sort of Existenz-like interface.

>not posting the .webm
Plen.

That song is the opposite of comfy because I associate it with Peep Show

The main character Simon??? wasn't very convincing but I enjoy the movie regardless.

Why is the world such shit now?

Is Daria the epitome of this whole post-grunge bubble?

I'd say it starts with Cobain's suicide and the release of Scream and ends with Columbine and nine eleven.

JUST

No sir, I insist you are the Reddit!

The OC and especially Buffy had more soul than you give them credit for. They're definitely more inspired by the sincerity of John Hughes than the cynicism exploitation of Spelling productions.

So much soul they killed every character they had no idea what to do with anymore. It was the most obvious example of assembled emotion that can just as easily be disassembled.

Buffy is far more interesting than that because it bred most of the cultural marxism crowd running rampant today but that topic is too broad for this thread and I for sure will never watch an episode of that shit show.

Wanted to add - Buffy and its "verse" represents, for television what Derrida is to philosophy. Take from that what you may.

you can tie a lot of cultural movements to what drugs became popular in the same time period

Was The Faculty where the 90s hit its watershed, and afterwards everything broke down to Millennial shit?

youtube.com/watch?v=2Whj8rVlkUQ

I don't think it ended with Columbine, 1999 was peak of post grunge shit.

oc was amazing you no life neet

So basically it fucked it completely never to be unfucked again until the end of the world?

>late 90s comedy

>THERE SHE GOESSSSSSSS

>pop punk

Thanks God that that shit died

you sound like you could use some COMFINESS in your life

diarrhea cha-cha-cha

It ended with the last Matrix movie.

Fuck, I didn't realise just how 'plastic' and uncreative everything seems until I started seeing all these grungy music videos and movies again.

9/11 really ruined everything.

was on my way to post this

One of my favourite fucking movies. I love this thread and I love all of you anons.

Your image is missing looney tunes and BTAS

Still that hurt me pretty bad

Probably my favs.

Scary Movie is 2000, but I still consider is a 90s since it was pretty close to the time change.

No Pinky and the Brain as well, or Ren and Stimpy.

derp

This picture triggered so many memories I can almost smell it.

I want to play Zelda on the Gameboy for the first time again

The blonde chick from American beauty gets me hard as diamonds

Her fall from grace was really sad. I mean there was a time where she was the IT girl. Hot in American Pie. Hot in Van Wilder, (which was basically her peak hotness) and then she screwed herself up with plastic surgery and is just horrendous these days.
