In a moment of sheer fucking idiocy, I dropped a potholder onto the hot coil of my stove. And grabbed it. For the first time in 28 years of existing, I burned myself. I have it in cool water, but not helping at all. What can I do to relieve the pain??

This may sound crazy, but take a razor blade and cut off the skin until you see skin that isn't burned. All that hurts is the burned skin so if you remove what hurts, you'll be 100%. Protip: This works for gunshot wounds also.
Its going to hurt like a mother fucker but put an ice cube on it, cut the blister open and then stick it in alcohol, you'll feel like a bitch for a good 30 seconds straight but after that you'll feel way better than just band aid it up and you're good to go
First pour some laundry bleach on it to get the blister to form, then pour a little bit of ammonia on it to get the blister to pop

Take painkillers, ideally ibuprofen (acetomemphistennessee or whatever you call it) as it will help reduce the swelling, keep it cool and moisturise it.
That is about all you can do. It's going to hurt for ~12-24 hours because you've already damaged the tissue, it just needs time to heal. Should be fully healed within a week.

1. Put it into a glass of cold water to immeditely kill the pain. Refresh the water as needed. do for an hour or so. then:
2 cut a potato open and put it onto the burn..it will also relieve the pain but heal it at the same time..keep using fresh potato slices as needed. it will heal it completely and remove the pain too.
Google this if you don't believe me.. it's the best solution, I did it last week when I did the same thing.

Lol, I burn my fingers several times a year.. Just use aloe but DO NOT USE ICE. Aloe or cold water is the best.. As for the pain, stop being a pussy.. i know it burns like hell right now but it will subside in a few hours.. you will see a blister form in the next couple days but don't pop it.. let it pop naturally and dont peel it.. the skin will fall off naturally then u can peel..
