Same genre. people feel fancy when they call it avant pop

ones shit the others tripe

avant pop = good, excellent, the shadow ring
pop = crap, boring, samey, carly rae

avant-pop does not exist, art pop is a tag for shitty female musicians who are outside the top 40 and are considered to be """quirky"""

Art pop is just simply pop music that borrows from art music in attempt tropes for artistic credibility
Avant Pop is pop music that attempts to push the boundaries of their musical hemisphere

>avant-pop does not exist

>wikipedia list is proof my made up genre exists

How is this relevant?

musical genres are the trichotomy of art, popular, and traditional music

Yes I'm familiar with Tagg's Triangle but how is that relevant to the discussion?

Pop: music that makes proeminent use of chorus and follows a certain melodic form. Pop music heads to a certain end.

Art pop as the name hints is the more artistic take on pop, probably in the sense that is less conditioned by pop music formula and explores liberty. Art pop doesnt have a certain end. So its probably more open for definition

...

the fuck does this have to do with anything?

>Avant-pop is a form of popular music that is experimental, new, and distinct from previous styles[1] while retaining an immediate accessibility for the listener.[2]
Thus Avant-Pop exists and would fall into 'popular music' according to Tagg.
