Why do fat people think it's okay to be fat? Like, in what world is destroying your body a good thing? Fat people are at a higher risk of heat problems, organ failure, muscle degeneration, fractures, and a whole plethora of other ailments. So why do they do it to themselves? I mean, I know I'm lazy, but I still force myself to go to the gym 4 times a week. So being lazy isn't an excuse, because even lazy people go to the gym.

Been on a not-so-strict diet for the past 2 weeks along with jogging sessions once a day. I have been making some good progress and for those of you who truly want to know why it's hard, let me tell you.

a) some people may have stress-related issues (family, school, work) that is solved with eating. It really does help sometimes.

b) you have developed a habit and it is hard to break away from it because it is so convenient and makes you feel good. (think smoking)

c) friends pressuring you

Yes you're right, it is a psychological problem. The issue is people think it is easy, and it is not for those who don't have the motivation or willpower to want to change themselves. Anyone can go outside and start running, but nobody wants to because it's more convenient to just eat and forget.

I think the real issue is that people eat too quickly, and you don't feel full until you've eaten 2x more than you really should have.

pro-tip: want to start losing weight? eat half your meal, drink lots of water, wait 5 minutes. If you're not hungry anymore, then you've just cut your calories in half.

You're addicted to food because you eat too much. All you have to do is reduce the amount of food you consume and eat a lot healthier. The first week will be very difficult but it gets easier. Also DO NOT DRINK ANY SODA/SOFT DRINKS AT ALL.

I used to eat like shit and drink a can of soda every day but now I pay attention to what I eat and the only time I drink soda is when people offer it to me, aka once every few months. The difference is very noticeable. You no longer feel like a useless piece of shit and you become motivated.

you can eat as much as you want. seriously. i eat 4k calories a day and run 1 hour a day +30m of faking to lift weights and im a 6'1" 163 pound male. just dont drink soda, have too manu sugars, and reduce your salt intake and you can eat all day every day.

Carbohydrates actually are addictive, your brain gets used to the easy glucose, so it makes you want more all the time, instead of processing the fat you already have for energy.

Not to mention that sugar causes a dopamine dump in the brain, which eventually requires more and more to have the same effect.
Studies in mice have shown sugar to be more addictive than methamphetamine.

you obviously have some kind of emotional attachment to food in addition to it satiating your anxiety. Try to replace eating with something like watching some zit popping vids on youtude--you'll lose your appetite, but will feel satisfied watching all that pus come out.

Tried running. Ended up with bursitis, lol. Doing some elliptical BS until the knee is well enough to run on again.

I was about 120lbs on meth. Not skinny but not fat. Then I went to rehab and the rest is history.

It's been 10 years since the meth though, so seriously time to get my act together. Hence gym+personal trainer.

some people can't lose weight due to physical ailments. a close relative had a leg surgery and lost a lot of her power and can't run and jog and she can't even push a clutch in. she does eat healthy and isn't too overweight though so nobody has an excuse for being severly overweight

This. I was probably like 20 or something equally ridiculous before I found out what calories are. Seriously. It just wasn't something anyone in my family knew about or talked about. Nutrition wasn't taught at school. People would say "lose some weight", so I'd stop eating for a few days, be unable to sustain that and then binge. Rinse, repeat.
