Problem is that Hollywood creates the opportunities for people to call it racist. Asians used to have Jackie Chan and Lucy Lui and shit they don't even really have LL anymore. So the number of asian stars is pretty low because studios don't think that they're marketable, because there aren't any major asian stars, because studios dont think they're marketable and round and round it goes. They had an actual chance to give people something a bit different but they're just gonna make the next Dragonball Evolution. It's not that she CANT be good in the role because she is white its that the rest of the people behind the movie probably never even cared enough about the material to consider an asian actress just like with DE.

This is going to be garbage. Any of the vaguely existential or philosophical themes in the movie/show(s) will be jettisoned for Hollywood action movie bluster and phoned-in exposition. Forget about the atmosphere and cyberpunk aesthetic, it's going to be dark and blurry CGI far as the eye can see, juxtaposed with stock shots of Tokyo or wherever. Action scenes will be a green screened "Major" bungling about with a cheap wig and a leather catsuit wearing the same vacant eyed stare Johansson brings to all her action roles.
