Weezer is the only good pop punk band

Their only good albums weren't pop punk

can you guys recommend me more like this

youtube.com/watch?v=qLo7z50Tt2g

does /punk/ like SLF?

...

Top band
Best Northern Irish band of all time, Undertones are second, Them are third

Wrong.

Weezer is power pop.

Power pop, for the record, is way better than pop punk. Pop punk is garbage like Blink 182 and Green Day. Power Pop is Weezer, Sparks, Cheap Trick, etc.

Man, those guys were one of the first punk bands I really got into. Still haven't found anything that sounds similar.

I guess VOM since they're the Angry Samoans beta.

youtube.com/watch?v=jPR1FyxJh-c

Yas, ever since I heard Suspect Device.

can the jabbers be considered power pop?

Sonically yes but GG was a true punk at heart

Would you consider Big Black "Noise-punk"?

>The green / white album aren't pop punk

...

>Blink-182
>garbage

You shut your whore mouth, Dude Ranch is a classic

White is absolutely am pop with power chords. Island in the Sun is power pop. Only Green songs that qualify as pop punk are Hash Pipe and O Girlfriend

what are the most relevant underground punk labels.

Dunno about underground, but Poison City have some fucking solid bands signed to them (Clowns, Camp Cope, The Bennies).

Does anyone want to talk about how Refused are the greatest punk band in the world?

>cheap trick is pop punk

$50 says you haven't listened to their first two albums.

Shape Of Punk To Come is nice and all but their early stuff just sounds like a bad Earth Crisis ripoff.

Found them via Bruce Foxton who apparently played with them for a good while.

Good stuff, tight punk is best punk.

gg allin was not "a punk" and did not play punk music

post-hardcore/noise rock

which is punk

thread is off to a woefully tepid start

user clearly said Cheap Trick are power pop dingus.

...

toxic state
lumpy rex

I owe you $25, I've listen to the first two once each, Shape of punk to come and Freedom I've listened to several time, Always meant to go back and re-listen but haven't, does show how good they are tho

Is pic related punk AOTY?

>garbage

kill yourself

See I wasn't a fan of their early stuff. I got into them through New Noise, but before that I'd heard one song they had on the Victory Style II comp and thought it was pretty mediocre. Just your generic "chugga chugga" 90's hardcore that was done better by other bands. Thank god they moved on from that shite and actually learned how to play their instruments, lmao.

AFI - All Hallows EP
D.R.I. - Dirty Rotten EP
Gorilla Biscuits - Gorilla Biscuits
Judge - New York Crew
Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown

Someone's butthurt

>music doesn't age
Yeah, try listening to some pop from the early 2000's, or even The Door's first album. Some shit ages poorly.

Case in point, early 80's hardcore.

Yeah sure, Minor Threat are cool and all but once you've heard about a million other bands copy Out Of Step, shit gets old real fast.

holy shit all the original ramones are dead? :(

>post some of your favorite punk 7"s

Eyes - TAQN
The Deadbeats – Kill The Hippies
Black Randy And Metrosquad – I Slept In An Arcade
Rhino 39 – Prolixin Stomp
The Germs – Lexicon Devil

How was GG not a punk? Most of what he recorded was punk rock

Going to punk shows is a nice (only) way to start.

Most seem to put more effort into looks than anything. Every once in a while you meet one who will throw down in the pit.

eh, every good punk release nowadays are found in a sea of mostly boring shit. here are a few interesting labels but your mileage may vary

>Tuff Enuff
>Magnetic South
>Don Giovanni
>DFA
>Night People (highly recommended)
>Discontinuous Innovation Inc
>Katorga Works
>SPHC
>Erste Theke Tontraeger
>Dull Tools
>Faux Discx
>Static Shock

NOFX lads?

Also, rate my punk rock playlist.

open.spotify.com/user/punkrawkliam/playlist/0YP3B1VuFt5la42oZZiXQV

nice trips.
converge covering charles bronson or any powerviolence band when???

nofx is alright. i prefer their less political shit though.

It's alright, some good pop punk tunes that aren't made by cookie cutter pop rock bands

Ribbed, White Trash and Punk In Drublic are three of my favorite punk albums ever, with Ribbed being in my top-ten favorite albums of all time.

After I read The Hepatits Bathtub, it gave me a new found appreciation not only for them, but a lot of the other punk bands from the 1994 era.

The last song on the new NOFX album is great.

My personal favorite album from them will always be heavy petting zoo though.

*entire punk scene dies*

Nervous Breakdown is overrated imo

Lexicon Devil is great. Love Canal doesn't vibe with me, but Generic Album is dope.

Eh, not my thing.

Pump Up The Valuum, The War on Errorism, Surfer and SLTFATS are punk classics

no taste 2bh

If asked to do this again the list would probably be different but here goes:

fury - kingdom come
arms race - gotta get out
higher power - space to breathe
poison idea - pick your king
fugazi - furniture
blindside USA - wave of regret
caught in a crowd - the fight
power trip - armageddon blues
crunch time - the realness
gas rag - human rights
forced order - eternal war
the flex - dont bother with the outside world
inside out - no spiritual surrender
negative approach - s/t
rampage - heads in a vice
spine - subhuman

Yes 100%

>weezer good

Few good tracks on there.
