Any medfags here? I got an ingrown toenail infection, thought it'd be fine so I left it alone a few days. I went to a water park two days ago and today I noticed there is this red glob of what I think is is blood or something, but when I move it it hurts. How do I get rid of it?

whaddup user, i am a doctor.

I think the situation is really fucked. They probably have to amputee that pathetic toe

its scar tissue trying to attack yo toenail get your toenail cut off or ur whole toe gonna look like that

Fuck you user I need real advice

Cut off your toe OP.

Ignore that dude, i've had ingrown nails plenty. Currently got one like yours. It should be sorted out, go to a doc, they'll give you fluoxacillin or whatever and some cream, medicate that shit so the infection goes. Then probably a small operation. Not much of a biggie just ugly to look at

Whoops. Look's who is gonna take amoxicilin. Doesn't look like the nail needs trimming.

However, care to clean that... red thing and take another picture?

Yeah but user I'm really only worried about this red shit. Have you had it before?

Go to the fucking doctor you cunt stop putting it off before they REALLY have to cut off your toe

What an awesome op that one was

I'm not going to look at that pic any closer, but I can tell you for 100% sure it's cancer

Yah man I have. It's not anything to really worry about til it gets all gangrene looking. Your nail and toe will be fine til it starts getting black at the root of the nail

Here's a better pic

I had these before. From cutting then pulling the corner of the nail out. Anyway, it's just infected. Use some hydrogen peroxide to clean it with a q-tip then neosporin ointment on it for a few days. Cover with bandaid. That's should be all that's needed assuming you are well and don't have something like HIV weakening your immune system. If it's not better in a few days then go to the Dr, but they will want to cut a huge chunk of the nail out of the corner. I never needed that nor would do it anyway.

This. I was truck driver and mine was way worse. Gross and shitty. Peroxide. Neosporne. Keep it clean. I used alcohol and aired it out when i cood then neosporne and boots on for the next leg of circlejerk drive. U be okay user. Stop ignoring it. Stay off it all u can.

It's this

Go to a doctor, he gives you antibiotics and it will be gone in a Week!

1-doctor
2-low range surgery
3- a lot of pain
4-happy user

As a child into my pre teens I suffered heavily with ingrown toenails on both of my feet. multiple toes. The pain was so great that personally ripping the sides of my toe nails off was less painful than leaving them in. After years of putting up with it, we finally saw a specialist.

If this is a reoccurring problem OP, I recommend you do the same. They will cut the sides of your nails off and then kill the roots that allow it to grow. Since my operation I have been ingrown toenail free. That was 20 years ago. Don't needlessly suffer.

Did you remove the ingrown part of the nail? If not - do it, either at home ( there are plenty of videos on the internet on how to do it the best way ), or ,if you're a pussy, go to a doctor and get some anesthetics and they will do it for you.

Soak foot in warm water salt and vinegar. Maybe throw some green tea in there for aroma

Listen to this faggot here. I currently have an ingrown toenail infection and I'm going to my doctor thursday. This isn't the first time I've had it either. I have chronic ingrown toenails. They will numb your toe and cut out a small portion of your toenail. You will be given antibiotics and told to change your bandages regularly and keep your toe dry to the best of your ability.

It's very minor and painless. The worst you'll have to deal with is having 2-3 separate injections in your toe.. which is nothing. Imagine stepping on a splinter a few times.

better go see a toe doctor ... it could be an infection

Soak it in hot salty water - as hot as you can stand - for 10mins, then lance it with a sterile needle. it will feel much better if you can get some of that pus out and ease the pressure.
Then see a doctor for some antibiotics.

thx. You indeed have granulated tissue. ¡In the other picture I tought you had cutted half your nail!

Granulated tissue is a classical ocurrense in ingrown toenail with infection. I am sorry, you will need cutty cutty besides antibiotics.

You require an ambulatory procedure, so go to the cheapest medic there is avaible. I don't know about the healthcare in your country, but in mine those operations are rather free. (chile)

friend had it, had to operate his nail, honestly go to a doc as soon as you can
trust

My wife had a similar situation a few weeks ago. There's an an epsom salt / mint foot soak. Make sure the water is nice and hot and follow the directions (like 20 minutes or so, I think). Rinse, pat dry and cover with neosporin (or generic antibiotic cream or gel) and bandage. Repeat once a day for a few days and it should start to get better. Otherwise, go ahead an amputate it.

Don't listen to this nignog. The last thing you want to do with a full-blown infection is to preform some sort of rudimentary operation on your toe with non-sterilized tools. See a doctor.

Won't cure you but might make ya feel better

That's exactly what you're not supposed to do, user
The ingrown toenail itself wasn't the problem, it's that I cut it like a retard then I got infected. All I want is to cure the infection, then I'll fix the toenail itself.

If the fucker needs to be told to sterilize and clean it before hand and after the removal of the ingrown nail, then I think he deserves to have that toe of his rot off.

Exactly, one of the causes of dis is execcibe trimming of the sides of the nail

you'll be fine, they don't do much for nails. Just google and that's pretty much it. I've had two broken toenails before completely ripped off

I've had both of my big toes toenails cut from both sides, removed the extra ingrown nail, and then the nerves chemically burned out so that it won't grow back. best procedure i've ever had done in my life. go to a foot doctor, DO NOT go to a NORMAL physician, they suck and know nothing of feet, had a really bad experience before going to a foot doc.

also it's painless, might be a little expensive but it's worth it for your quality of life, i played sports a lot at the time and am an EMT advanced now, couldn't imagine having those problems today with my toes.

WHAT ABOUT THE RED SHIT?!?!?!? NOBODYS TALKING ABOUT THE RED SHIT. IS THAT COMMON?!??!?!?

Looks like early stages of necrosis to me

Unless you have a fucking autoclave in your house or medical grade pre-packaged tools then there is no way to adequately ensure that any of your tools will be sterile.

OP asked for the advice of medfags, not backwoods hillbilly surgeons.

It looks infected. Please see a doctor.

i had the same thing couple months ago at this point you need to get a surgery (sorry for shitty english) and that will be sooooo magicaaal but fter few hours the toe will start hurting like a fucking bitch you need to take more anti-pain pills than your doctor advices you to take this will be painful for 1week (a medic comes every 2 days to re make the bandage i dont advice you to look at your toe while changing the bandage (trust me i hunt and often watch rekt threads on Sup Forums but you will puke then you are ok and ur dumbass toe is healed (again english is not my main language and i am so fucking tired )

see

looks like a bad case of toe

it's only an infection is if its yellow/brown/autmn/black. It's red, it's gonna turn dark red like a scab. You don't worry about it until it looks like boogers.

God bless you user for actually giving me an answer on what this is. I'm taking your advice, thx

Computer Science grad student here.... I know a thing or two about ingrown toenails, in fact more than most doctors.

That red glob is granulation tissue. Now, I have some good news, and some bad news.

First, the bad news: you have chronically fat toes. Your ingrown toenail was not caused by injury. Without proper treatment, you will have these for the rest of your life. Unfortunately, the correct treatment is often never given to patients. A million wedge resection surgeries will not correct this. This is because you do not have an ingrown toenail, you have overgrown toeskin.

The good news: The infection will not spread. Now, you need a "vandenboss procedure" to fix this. The surgery is pretty horiffic tbh, but it is the only thing that will cure this. Explain this procedure to your doctor, they will likely be unable to treat this toenail.

Good luck user!

Ugh my fuckin gods op. Look at that carpet its hideous.

I've had it before user. All I did was clean I to everyday with alcohol and put antibiotics on it. Put a bandage and it'll be gone in a week or 2. The red glob idk what it is. I had it and it's not bad. You don't need a doctor unless you see it get bigger

get the toenail out and it should shoot out some puss then just keep it covered and cleaned for a few days, it will hurt bad to walk

>How do I get rid of it?

Clean it out, get rid of puss, then smear antibiotic ointment on it every day, and wear clean socks. Do not try and cut your nail, there is nothing wrong with your nail!

why are you standing on popcorn

Go to the doc.
If it infected you better seach a doc.

this guy knows his shit. get to a doc before it looks like this here. if that shit spreads to your whole toe it's gonna be ten times more painful than what it is now. get well soon user.

Guys if your toe ever starts to hurt, just smear some antibiotic ointment on the infected
area. That will kill the bacteria and stop the infection before it gets out of control. I
never have problems with my toes anymore because I follow this simple rule.

This is awesome. Here's what I would do. Hydrogen Peroxide. Followed by alcohol. Dry. Place toe in ice water for about 30 minutes. Repeat hydrogen peroxide and alcohol. Then use antibiotic cream. Let it air out over night. Of course. First dig out in grown nail and remove dirt and debris.

how do you live with yourself?

amputate it

Get some sterile medical tape, and then use it to pull back the infected part of the toe, the right side. Might need to layer it to put it back completely but you want it to be exposed. Then using a sterile xacto knife, make small slits in the corner of your nail until you can break it off. Don't fucking cut too deep! If you slice into your toe that will hurt like a motherfucker. You could also use a drill bit - when I dropped a sofa on my toe I used a drill bit spun with my fingers (lol don't put it in a power drill idiot!) to let the blood out from under the toe but in your case you need that corner of the nail gone. Once that is out soak it real good in saltwater, apply some alcohol and get some antibiotics tomorrow. Leave the tape on for a few days or until the swelling starts to subside.

This. I had two ingrowns taken out (looked much like yours) when I was around 16. They just give you a local anesthetic and then slice out part of the toenail. No biggy. Doesn't really hurt at all.

Stop worrying about how it looks and schedule an appointment. Ask about what you should do in the meantime when you call the doctor.

I had a friend who got this a while ago, just go to the doctors. you wont be able to swim or anything until it heals up less you want the infection to get worse. they'll probably give you cream or pills for it, my friends was bandaged for a bit

put toe in microwave
