Because they are?

>example

That scene is lie one step away from being a monty python skit

you are moms honeymoon tape is pretty good

I honestly can't understand the appeal of most REALLY old movies. I fully get ones that were made after 1975 or so, but before that I'm totally perplexed. They're dull as fuck, generally

You gotta maintain the patrician image by watching boring movies, bro

Please, watch Vertigo (1958) then come back with your renewed opinion.

most movies whenever are indeed boring, you are slowly learning faggot

when Metropolis was better than most 70's movies is when you realize that it's not old movies that are bad, but just most movies.

>1958
>horrible video
>horrible audio
>probably original for its time but not now
>terrible fucking acting
>weird awkward cuts
I am not saying that there's a magical year where movies started getting better, but movies really really got better by the time
I'm gonna watch Vertigo though

Faggots. Back to the capeshit threads.

>roommate has a bunch of oldass movie posters in his room
>"I think all movies today are garbage"
>whens the last time you actually watched a recent movie
>"oh like 10 or 11 years ago"
>hes 24

Apparently the guy stopped watching everything after he turned 13. He doesnt even watch tv shows.

His favorite movies are The Matrix, Titanic, and Crouching Tiger Hidden meshuggah.

>projecting this hard
No one said anything about capeshit

do u also only listen to music released after 1975?

what abt books, only ever read books post-mr. goodbar

Nope, but most of my favourite bands are from 1990s, 2000s and 2010s

you watching this shit on youtube

Pretty much, though some early 70s music is good too.

There have been books for thousands of years though. It's not a modern art

u dont think there was any good music during the '60s?

yea and people still read homer's odyssey

What a based guy

youtube.com/watch?v=0sB3Fjw3Uvc

I love a lot of albums from the late 1960s. Movies are different from music though. Movies rely heavily on technical aspects which get better over time unlike music. Music can be deliberately recorded in lo-fi these days

Soylent Green

What the fuck are you on about?
Tell me a better decade for movies than the 50's and 60's.

Pro tip: Fuck off

Subtle b8 is subtle

jesus christ...

Citizen Kane is the best movie evarrrrrrrr!!!!!! right bro?!

My favourite movie 12 Angry Men

i dont think this is true; movies can be deliberately black and white. & im sure there a people who think music relies on technical aspects.

40s

the 70s and 80s but yeah it's been downhill since then

& ever will be

Do you wanna know the secret to this; people only remember the good, that stand the test of time and not the garbage that gets forgotten.

of course no, it has horrible video and audio, bad acting and awkward cuts, star wars 14 is better by far

How is 7th grade, user?

wha sort of school of rock insult is this

Maybe if you stop being hyperbolic and strawmanning, I might take you seriously

im not him tb h i just thought u were lame

Old movie's can be amazing, they can also be complete shit.
New movies can be amazing, they can also be complete shit.
Watch anything and everything you can and you'll find the hidden gems.

If you don't watch silent movies from the 1920s you're a complete pleb

Video related the greatest movie fucking casuals wouldn't understand

>youtube.com/watch?v=tc-L9_4jGc4

finished in 2002

reddit: the post

All Quiet On The Western Front

Groundbreaking for its time 2bh

wtf

I like this one more.

You dumb niggas are posting in a troll thread

I watch movies because of their stories and older movies were more focused on that and were good at it. There are notable exception where visuals are important, like Kubrick movies, and they still have a deeper meaning and they tell a better story than modern crap like capeshit.

Retards like OP belong to the ADD generation where they can't understand this type of things and they end up looking like idiots.

we just like arguing

Why do you pretend new movies are good?

>this thread
>arguing

Don't fool yourself.

>1895

What a fucking plebian shit taste desu

>modern movies are only capeshit xD
Are legit retarded or just baiting?

thats all it is bruh bruh

Are you retarded or is English not your first language?

Vertigo is shit.

possibly! but it was the first thing that came to mind to advice to a pleb as an example of pre 70s movie that is interesting and looks modern.

Movies that older than 20 years are garbage.

20 months you wanted to say

OP is right all old films are just rubbish. It doesn't matter if the photography was good. It doesn't matter if the acting was good. It doesn't matter if the story is good. Old films are just shit for being old. I myself only watch movies that are less that 5 years old, and only in 3D. And just like Op Alone. Naked. Gay.

Jesus, user. Warn us about jump scares. I thought I was about to be run down.

I do genuinely like some old movies.

Generally nothing past the mid 80's though.

>le philistine

Wow dude. Even for a bait, that is rude.

Because they're "influential" or some shit. Some people just can';t accept that what was good then is outdated now and a lot of the stuff has been revisited and done better in modern times. I except someone to point to hollywood blockbusters(or capeshit specifically) in a pathetic attempt to make a point.

GOAT

Peeping Tom
Seven Samurai
Stalker
Wild Strawberries

These are all great films. If it's the old aesthetic that turns you off then maybe you shouldn't be posting here, just stick to your capeshit threads or fuck off.

>a film made in 1968 is "old"

2001: A Space Odyssey

The way you said it man. It's that middle ground bullshit like "Muslims can be good or bad"

The Sun in a Net

The first twenty years or so of film are really interesting. They primarily use stage techniques, but you can see glimmers of what movies will become, and can almost see the evolution happen in real time.

I love silent movies. The physicality of the actors is so much more pronounced, and you really see how much someone can say with just their eyes.

...

Shallow self-absorbed millenials are easy to spot. You just cannot appreciate anything that's not set in your time frame.

I appreciate movies older than I am all the time. That's because I am not ethno-centric and arrogant.

I think it's interesting how most of them don't seem to mind getting filmed or are not even aware of it, all they know are "normal" cameras that only takes one picture

Titanic? The Shawshank Redemption? Lord of the Rings? Pulp Fiction?

Why do you pretend to be an idiot on the internet?

Old movies are good for the most part. It's just the three hour foreign art films that blow.

>probably original for its time but not now
?????????

Just a reminder that Rules of the Game, released in 1939, is better than any film this century.

It's true though you dense mother fucker.

Why is Sup Forums so anti-art now?

>implying any of these flicks are old
you are the cancer of cinema
you are why flicks are made each year

>Old
>80s
Wut?

>RDJ as tall as Liam Hemsworth

>21 years isn't old

It's older than most of the posters here

*oops I meant Chris

Faggòt

the multinational power struggle in the subdued dialogue in that scene was pretty top of the line and realistic

I only pretend good old movies are good...

The correct answer is the 30s, stupid plebians.

There is more than one class of person who parades old films as better.

How will your favourite films of today be considered tomorrow?

>Better than Crank 2

Why even watch movies that were made before you born

marry me user

they had no idea they were filmed, the device (cinematographe) didn't look like photo camera

i'm watching it tomorrow!
