Yeah.......I've been telling people whenever this comes up that there seems to be an unspoken general agreement by the everyday population that nobody questions the quality of the music and everybody tells everyone else that they enjoy the music. It's like an all-encompassing bandwagon effect. People see people listening to the music in person, see videos of people playing the music, etc. and just assume they must also in order to fit in. I'm wiling to bet that education level comes into play with this trend also, with the more intelligent people of a population having it occur to them to question the musical status quo while being open to new music and even having the drive to seek out alternatives. There is definitely a direct inverse correlation between education level and susceptibility to peer pressure and the bandwagon effect.
