Really good but not as good as the raw debut

This is the jam

youtube.com/watch?v=7kYaEN06UYM

it's good, really poorly produced though

I loved it as a teenager, then I listened to more post-hardcore. still appreciate it for what it is, although I see bands like them, refused and glassjaw as being indirectly responsible for a really bad turning point in the genre

...

Please explain?
>Implying refused's SOPTC and Freedom aren't the two of the best punk albums of all time

This one is better.

cedric has good taste, he said tim taylor of brainiac was one of his biggest inspirations as well.

Most underrated post hard-core band
Falco's lyrics are pure gold

youtube.com/watch?v=3Xahvg7-iJ4

Brainiac was one of the best of that era, I saw them a week before he died.

I didn't imply that at all, read it again.

>Please explain?
Refused and AtD-I inspired a lot of copycat bands. They (especially AtD-I) also got the genre much more mainstream coverage, which led to a lot of bands cashing in on that particular sound rather than bringing anything new to the table. These bands also generally lacked the nuance, eclectic set of influences, and political motive for making music.

This came out earlier this year. 8 years since their last EP.

I was only ">implying" you for memes dw
I don't really get that hung up on copycatting and mainstreaming, I figure it means that people who could get into better music find it more easily because more stuff is out there, hell, I got into music thanks to BMTH

>muh borders
>muh oppression
>use muh feminism to fight the oppressors

music is good, but god damn this video is retarded.

Well, I usually don't care what other people listen to. But when it leads to a decade-long stagnation in what was one of the best things happening in rock music in the 90s, I think that's kinda important

I can't say I've listened to enough to disagree with your statement, but I cannot say I agree with it either, personally, if you think theres somewhere the genre could be taken its your job to take it there, what do you think post-hardcore is missing?

best punk album ever, IMO, if you.dknt give a squat about politics

Wait, how is RoC not their rawest release? This was the record that had the most noiserock influence. Aside from Devil Among the Tailors, In/Casino/Out was pretty soft and Vaya was an electronic album by comparison. You need to give it another listen

It's missing the "post-" part of post-hardcore. What made Fugazi, Unwound, At the Drive-In etc. good is that they were influenced by things outside of hardcore punk. That's the whole point. Post-hardcore should be a vague term, because there are lots of things out there that aren't hardcore punk. But it very much has a specific sound now, which happens to copy those in the late 90s and early 00s.. They're not just punks making whatever music they happen to be influenced by, they're bands trying to sound like AtD-I

Please tell me about all the great right wing post hc artists.

let's give non-U.S. post-hardcore some lovin'

>dat reading comprehension
How do you go from "these lyrics are too forced and cringey" to "RIGHT WING BANDS MAKE BETTER MUSIC LMAOOo"

Could you tell me the lyrics that were so bad? I couldn't understand anything.

I'm not the other poster, I'm just pointing out that your reply does not follow from his.

dis sum rediculas overlooked shit right here

That's awesome, but it's gotta be some genre of metal, right?

Not at all, just pretty crusty/grindy at times

calm down there, buddy.

Saw DLJ in DC this year. Incredible.

Funny seeing Ian Svenonius run back and forth between watching and backstage.

Made a lot of eye contact with John Reis.

Debating driving to Philly to see Hot Snakes on Wednesday

DOO IT!!!! They're working on a new album, may be playing new songs!

Ahhh, I really want to. We'll see. One of my dream bands, for sure.

Thoughts on this album? I'm enjoying it very much.

awfully awful

quick, post mathrock

>really poorly produced though
Care to explain?
For the the production is one of the highest points on the album

this is the course pretty much every style of music goes through though, and there's nothing wrong with repeating a formula if it's a good one

by the way, Fugazi's best release is Red Medicine

this

anyone who references bobby zamora in his lyrics for no apparent reason deserves recognition

suicide invoice is better

It was mastered pretty badly. Clipped like crazy from what I can recall. Even Omar hated how it was produced.

I wish more post-hardcore out there took cues from this and Fugazi, than from bands like Drive Like Jehu and At the Drive-In.

Didn't notice anything wrong with the mastering. Can't remember any clippings either.

Also Omar is not exactly a reference in this point, since the late TMV album are terribly produced.

>poorly produced

Nah, Ross Robinson did a good job on that album. Better than any of the nu-metal garbage he was doing at the same time, lmao.

this is seriously fantastic, btw

>eclectic set of influences
>political motive

How the fuck do either of these factor into your enjoyment of a band?

If I'm listening to Refused, I couldn't give a fuck if they're a bunch of dirty communists, I'll blast New Noise and rock the fuck out to it. Conversely, if I'm listening to something like Pierce The Veil I couldn't care one iota if they aren't "politically motivated" in the slightest, as long as the music is decent I'm fucking good to go.

noo

also this

All the nu-metal albums that he produced are good though

Korn's S/T is p good, Roots by Sepultura is nice, same with the first 2 Slipknot albums. But in all honesty I'd say his work with bands like Glassjaw, The Blood Brothers and ATDI is way better.

i always feel like these two and pic related are sort of like sister albums
same style, totally different attitudes
the (un)holy trinity of myspacecore
something like that

Asking Alexandria's first album is more or less a ripoff of Attack Attack! when you think about it. The difference is Attack Attack! got much heavier before breaking up, while Asking Alexandria more or less turned into a radio rock band.
