Wait, what it's her head? Is it just her escaping, or the whole monsters thing? Are you implying she alone killed all the others?

>Are you implying she alone killed all the others?
yes
there were no monsters

It was implied heavily in the movie that everything was in her head the entire movie. She was the monster. That's why she was on meds.

No, there are definitely monsters. Yes, the movie is about a DESCENT into madness, but only the escape is in her head.

Can't buy this theory because of all the people killed while she's off-screen. How would you explain that?

Love that film

Your theory is shit.

You guys are fucking idiots. It's made clear in the first like 10 minutes that she's experiencing nightmares while in a coma. The cave is an allegory for her coma, and at the end she is unable to escape it, preferring to live in the fantasy where she can still see her child while also recognizing it is a fantasy than to wake up and return to the waking world where her family is dead.
There were no monsters. Her friends never went into a cave. It is made absolutely clear that she's still in her coma.

The sequel, though not nearly as good, still supports this, as she defaults back to a fantasy beginning in a hospital after the previous fantasy ends. She's still in her coma.

A truly good horror movie, watching it in pitch darkness even with some friends made me shit my pants (especially the ending)

Yeah this. If I remember correctly, the original theatrical release had her escaping. Then on DVD, the alternate ending had her escape, and then realize the escape was only in her head.

>also, pic attached

because we see the movie from her PoV
in her mind that's how things went down but if we were to see things as they actually happened she would be seen killing all the girls herself

user, this may shock you but cave-people don't exist in real life. They're a fantasy element, which means they represent something else, something that exists unlike literal cave-people.

Yes, because clearly horror movies are based in strict realism.

HURR DURR MONSTERS DON'T EXIST! EVERY HORROR MOVIE EVER IS SOMEONE'S PSYCHOTIC DELUSION!!

...

>It's made clear in the first like 10 minutes that she's experiencing nightmares while in a coma

How is it made clear?

The whole "it was just a dream" is just so fucking retarded I hope with all my heart you argument is shit.

Can already see it is tho :
>at the end she is unable to escape it, preferring to live in the fantasy where she can still see her child

Her fantasy is a horror movie in which she only sees her child for like 1 second at the very end. Had she seen her kid in the cave during the movie I'd say ok, but she only sees her after escaping so...
wouldn't she wake up leaving the cave where her child isn't?

>cave-people don't exist in real life

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sawney_Bean

That movie literally made no fucking sense

Not a good logical argument to present for horror movies, user. That shite's gonna get picked apart quickly.

You do realize there's multiple endings and a sequel to this that proves you wrong?

jacobs ladder

>While historians tend to believe Sawney Bean never existed or his story has been greatly exaggerated his story has passed into local folklore and become part of the Edinburgh tourism industry.

this

op is going the 2deep4u route

thanks for the fucking spoiler you stupid CUNT

In Cameron's head

A Tale of Two Sisters

I don't know what you're trying to argue. Movies with fantasy elements are the opposite of strict realism, I was merely suggesting that you shouldn't confuse movies with reality. Descent isn't a documentary about cave explorers discovering a tribe of blind cannibals, it's a story about coping with severe trauma. You have to step back and recognise that the ENTIRE thing is fiction and that the cave expedition is allegorical.

best horror film I've seen
it's just so amazing, especially when you've seen it once and notice all the genious ways he's framing the little sister out of the picture when the father walks in and shit
what a masterpiece

This one.

The only movie in which I re-watched immediately after finishing...just to see it again in context.

Fucking scary as hell too!

JACOB'S LADDER

how a bout a whole tv series

How about being all just a dream (from a 70s sitcom)

What I don't get is why this type of plot upsets people so much. It doesn't change the movie's message.

...

>birthday cake out of nowhere
how did she sneak it down without ruining it?

this thread is against Sup Forums rules

ITT Op is a fucking retard who didn't understand the movie

...

i dont know where people pick up these silly ideas from.

underrated

...

Why hasnt this one been posted yet

>I want monsters in my movies because I have no imagination.
>I'm the same type of person who thought True Detective was bad because there were no spooky monsters.

That was actually a lot better than I expected it to be.

...

That movie was Fucking Based as FUck!

True, it's a solid movie that works even if you know the reveal beforehand because it's held together by good filmmaking rather than a one-time suspense gimmick.
