I tried posting in /adv/ but it won't let me reply, so I'm trying here.

I am going through a shitty divorce and I will have to be out on my own sometime within the next year or so, but I need some budgeting advice and how to possibly make some money on the side. I got luck and got a job right away and I am going to save as much money as I can until she files for divorce and the courts say I have to leave.

The job in customer service/telemarketing (people call in with a problem, I solve it and then they want me to up-sale their contracts or offer a new product/service) for $10/hr for 40hrs/wk. If I upgrade their existing contracts or get them to sign up for a new service or product, I get a bonus on top of that.

I did the math online with a tax deduction calculator and I am going to be making about $665.14 every 2 weeks or about $1330.28 monthly, assuming that I do not get any bonuses, which they pay out at the end of the month.

My current bills are:

$64.27 Gerber College
$27.06 Gerber Life
$79.99 Comcast Internet
$70.00 StateFarm
$120.00 Gas for car
$150.00 Groceries
$40.00 Pre-paid phone

$547.24 Total

If I can find a studio or apartment near my work, I can just walk to work and cut my gas budget down to about $60. I can also get rid of Comcast, if I can find a place that offers internet or I can sit and be a bum at McDonalds or Starbucks. I might have to get a pre-paid phone if my wife decides to cancel mine, so a shitty pre-paid is a maybe. When I move out I'm going to be eating basically nothing (rice, beans, frozen veggies, boiled eggs, ramen, frozen burritos), but I haven't planned out how much these things are going to cost me yet.

$64.27 Gerber College
$27.06 Gerber Life
$70.00 StateFarm
$60.00 Gas
$40.00 Pre-paid phone
$150.00 Groceries

$411.33 Total

I need advice on how much I should be saving from when I get my first decent check (September) until the divorce is final (????) and I have to move would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

You can survive on only eating potatos and butter.

I'm not sure that's a good idea. Too much starch and fat.

You should be saving up to half your check if possible.

Be warned that you're probably going to be paying her a good portion of your check if you get fucked in court.

She has been the primary earner in the relationship of 7 years and she makes 4x what I make.

The Irish didn't complain

What about the ones that died during the famine?

I would recommend getting a cheap bike if you can
this will give you many more options house-wise
if you live in a city biking can actually be faster than driving

Because they didn't eat their potatos like good boys.

i know it may sound retarded but you can get a decent unlocked android phone and then a tracfone sim card and use that. tracfone is decent, i used it when i was in a bad part of life.

I have a bike, but its about 40 minutes from some of the rentals I have been looking at to my work.

I also only plan on staying there until I can find something better.

I don't want to be a good boy, I want real food.

I still have my old flip phone, but I am not sure if it has a SIM or not. I will check later to see if it does.

Thanks.

Does your State have spouse support?
You might qualify for that in the divorce.

Some pretty decent replies so far and I got a chuckle from the potato comment.

I am not ungrateful.

And no, I don't have any nudes of her. Sorry.

It does, but they take it as a case by case scenario. I think I will qualify for it, which is good.

I don't want to be a complete dick and have the courts give me a fuckton of money, but anywhere between $500 - $1,000 would be great.

In the worst case scenario, you can claim some autismbux

Something to keep you guys lurking.

I can technically qualify for disability, but due to my age, it will be very hard to get approved for it.

I already filed and I have an interview, but I need to get them to reschedule, because they want to call when I am at work.

>qualify for disability, but due to my age, it will be very hard to get approved for it.
That's not how it works.

Explain pls.

I have ankylosing spondylitis. I got tested 5 years ago and my doctor documented that it is affecting my back enough to be visibly noticeable without x-rays, although, the doctor was smart enough to order some over the course of 4 years.

got source on that?

Pretty sure they weren't exactly pleased

name?

Basically, L5 and L6 vertebrae near my pelvic bone are starting to fuse together and it causes extreme pain that extends to my testicles on rare occasions.

I also have a very distinctive curvature in my spine like an "S" that is more from left to right than front to back.

There is also some fusing between my shoulder blades.

I do not. I found it here. I rename it if it was posted with a source.

Not posting anything personal, but you are free to take a guess.

I use freedompop free phone service. It is decent but get a decent phone not one of the cheap ones.

I eat split peas. $0.70/pound, 650 calories/cup, 50 grams protein strong source of electrolytes.

Cut comcast down. You can at least use the hotspot which is $55/mo for access if you're anywhere near another comcast customer (network name xfinitywifi). It is also available if you just buy a $30/mo internet from them. Just get an ethernet cable.. no reason to buy such fast internet. You can stream 1080p 60fps at like 12 down.

Get a road bicycle. I think walmart actually has a decent one for under $100. Hopefully you can find something that works for you. You can stick a small electric or gas motor on it for a few hundred if you can save up.

Sorry about your breakup, OP. Try looking into couponing. My mum does that along with her daily job and her food bill is basically zero.

Best wishes!

Oh and I get the peas from Winco bulk section.. hopefully you can find something where you are.

You can also get bulk avocado oil from there.. easily add a few hundred more calories for pennies. Even from Costco the stuff is like $1 per 1000 calories.

I meant her name you weirdo lol

Comcast was the only available provider in my area, so it was that or have no internet.

It would be a lot cheaper if I got phone and cable with it, but with streaming services, fuck cable.

Winco? What state are you in? I'm in OR.

I will try that. I tend to buy things in bulk anyway, but I'm not to sure that those retailer will take coupons. Can't hurt to try, right?

Still a no.

She buys things in bulk and then uses coupons on each individual item in the set. I would try that.

I'm not in Oregon so just look around online and in local places, and ask around. Someone has to know where you can find dried split peas and avocado oil for cheap.

I'm not saying cut comcast just the package you are buying. Wifi is very slow compared to plugging an ethernet cable into your modem. They are like $20 for a Cat6 50-foot. Look into the hotspot thing if you can't get a cheaper package than $80 because it is $55. Every comcast modem broadcasts one.

for the love of christ...
sauce!

I'm guessing you either cheated on her or she wants bubba as her new husband, hopefully you won't get fucked by the judge. Good luck, OP.

ssdi

I have to cook dinner now, so I will be going back and forth, but I am still here.

Actually it looks like Winco is in Oregon check to see if you're near one google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=winco oregon locations&rflfq=1&rlha=0&rllag=45364514,-122962887,22075&tbm=lcl&tbs=lf:1,lf_ui:4

Cable tech. Fag here. Call your provider and complain about the services. Tell them youll go to another provider if they dont drastically lower your rates.

See
I've been to Winco. It's awesome for bulk dry goods and certain things. I was just wondering if you were near me.

If the file doesn't have a name; I didn't get sauce. Sorry.

Do this, it works

If I get get kicked out, I am just going to cancel it and use the joint account to pay the fees.

Great! Get the split peas and avocado oil. Peas are 2000 calories per $1 and I don't remember on the oil but it is definitely over 1000 per $1 and very easy to just throw a couple tablespoons into the peas or anything. It tastes fine not like that cheap canola or anything.

Place all your money into an account and then send saidcash into my account where ill budget for you free of charge

OP LISTEN TO ME :

i was there too, get another job, i bet u got good customer service skillsz cuz u work as telemarketer.

on saturdays and sunday, just work part time on starbucks. you can add like 200$ per month to that paycheck.

Also when you are eating cheap raw foods make sure you are getting enough salt, about 2 grams daily and drink all the water you feel like you need. Winco has bulk pink salt but there are other kinds like table salt often has iodine. The peas will cover the potassium so you won't need "NoSalt" or similar. I do a gram of table salt with iodine and a gram of pink salt just mixed with a tall glass of water it's not bad. I just chase it with a drink of normal water.

We spent $5k moving to OR
We bought a house for $182k
She got a 2nd car for $18k
She has $14k in CC debt
She has $20k in student loan debt

On top of all of this, she wanted to spend $3k to take a family vacation, and I told her we don't have money. Which we don't, we only have $4k in savings and she just switched jobs, so she has no vacation and isn't part of the union yet.

She wants to keep racking up the debt and tells me not to worry about it.

I'm just trying to be realistic in our finances.

Also if you have free time enter contests on r/giveaways and r/sweepstakes. I win about 1:300 or 400. So far it has worked out to about minimum wage but you never know when you might win something worth a lot.

Will do -- when the time comes. I'm copying the useful advice to notepad for later.

Just got to work and save all my money until then.

I will have to see what events are in my area and apply to them whenever I get the chance.

Don't give her anything, not even an inch. Don't let her put you in debt. Women will do that. They will take anything you give them and exploit every weakness in you. Don't do anything you don't want to do - ever.

I have a son, which I will only be able to see 2 days a week since I start working soon, and once the divorce is final, who knows how long I will see him.

I would rather spend that time with him, in case things do not go my way.

I'm also planning on getting a different job once I get some experience. Costco or somewhere else that's union with benefits.

The lease for the house is in her name. I have been a stay at home spouse for almost 10 years now and this is the first job I got in about 9 months.

All of the debt is in her name. Legally, I am entitled to half of whatever is in our joint accounts, but not for her debt. I was smart in that regard.

I have 0 debt, at the cost of my credit score and credit history. I've been truing to fix that for about a year now. Credit score went from non-existent to a shitty 600 score.

In the US you will qualify for 99% of the contests. Just set up separate email and social media to enter and use an alternate browser so you can have it save all the info for auto form fill.

You will also need to unsubscribe from the lists while looking for win notifications or make effective filters. Usually win emails have "win, won, winner, runner, congrats, congratulations" in the subject.

I will definitely look into it. Thanks.

Just always be nice to everyone even those who are not nice (but don't give them your attention if it is not necessary) and if you don't like your job or the people there, keep looking for one infested with nice people. When you have a job you can take your time getting to know the people at the potential new one so you can go where it feels like family instead of a labor camp (troubled leadership) or shitfest (troubled co workers).
