Description:

The title of Good Boy's new album, A Mouth Full, is quite prophetic of what it has to offer. Dizzying, disorienting synthesizers and vocoders, dwindling guitars, and colorful, terse bursts of energy, composed and comprised aside George's soft spoken, illusory-filled lyricism. Quite the mouthful indeed.

Support, scrobble, or review on RYM. Any feedback of any kind would be greatly appreciated. And George give some love. Thank You. :)

there's already another one though.......

Even Oxen :/

but if we're talking about Bandcamp in general, Las Sucias - Salte Del Medio! takes the cake. might as well drop a link for them because i love them so much

goos as always. dunno if i ever told you but everyone on your label has fantastic taste for album covers, especially eric taxxon and jacob hutto

mmm, kinda sounds like Sung Tong era Animal Collective, with the vocals, acoustic guitars and swirling psychedelic soundscapes. Though I can see that you have a somewhat intentionally loose sound, I still think you could be a bit more tight rhythmically with the electronic drums though, sounds like you're maybe tapping them out on a keyboard?
I'm still gonna shamelessly post here anyway, see if I can get those clicks ;)

I can definitely here the Glen Branca influence,
wish the guitars had a bit more punch, but your technique sounds good, especially since you're not masking your playing in lots of distortion. I think again though, sequenced as opposed to "tapped out" drums would still work better.

>wish the guitars had a bit more punch, but your technique sounds good, especially since you're not masking your playing in lots of distortion.
i'm working on that, some of the guitars i played directly into the computer instead of on an amplifier so some were really clean instead of the mad distortion you hear on the guitar solo. yeah thanks, i've been learning a bit about music theory so now i find it a lot easier to create melodies and riffs that work with each other instead of just randomly plucking around trying to figure out something.

>I think again though, sequenced as opposed to "tapped out" drums would still work better.
what do you mean by tapped out? i used a sequencer for the drums. i think maybe the program i used for them was really shitty and the tempo was a bit off, i recall having to set it to about 10 lower than the original tempo so that it would be on time. i'll find a better drum machine to use next time, or maybe finally get a proper drummer.

good stuff

There's some great calmness coming from that album cover for a reason, and the music is as comfy as the photo promises. The tracks are great, but too short (each should be at least 2 minutes) and there's too much compression on some of the tracks, I know it's for making it sound vintage and enhancing the kicks, but it's rather annoying and won't help me with my headache. Make the rest sound like Mercury and it will be fine.
I recognise the album cover of Aqua, I listened to that before and I have to say you're talented at setting a vibe and making comfy instrumentals. I hope some talented rapper buys your tracks.
There are so many great hip-hop instrumental albums floating around the internet without any good rappers to do these justice.

Thank you for the kind words. Means a lot. I recently went through a breakup and making these tracks was very therapeutic for me. I'll keep your notes in mind for the next one.

Sorry to hear that, and keep your head up.
May I ask what kind of "filter" did you use on the August and Solstice album covers?

thanks man I will, and the solstice cover is a snapchat photo I took with the light blue filter and then both were put through afterlight, which is an iOS app.

Great stuff. Why don't you release it as an actual album? The lo-fi distorted vocals are a great touch, much better than putting tons of reverb to cover mistakes up, and it doesn't take up that much of the frequency range. Everything can be heard perfectly, even if it's clipping a bit. Well produced album mane.

I mostly focus on songwriting, but producing doesn't come so naturally to me. I've spent a shit ton of hours trying to get it to sound right so I'm very happy that you like it.

Yeah, but now take some pride in it
Give the record a real title, an album cover and release it. The most "Bandcampish" thing you can do is using a random photo you made with your phone and then name the release "random songs i guess"

fuck this post i thought it didnt posted...

This is more than half a year of work, considering I have an actual job, so I dedicated the little free time I had to do this. I think the final product is good, not perfect, but I think it deserves a listen. I'll be giving it away until the end of the year, so grab yours.

first track is really pretty

I quite like my cover art. Maybe it just needs text of my name and the title of the album on it?

And I think "Call It Anything" is a good title. I stole it from Miles Davis. It was the working title of "Bitches Brew". Other titles I thought of are "Snow Shoes" and "Downward Dream" and "Farewell Perfection! The Beast is Here Revealed!!"
