>people actually think oldboy is kino or even good

I want you to fucking hang yourself.

stupid edgy movie and twists, just designed to provoke disgust and "omg cool".

You start.

In The Mood For Love
Still Walking
Shall We Dance?
Hard Boiled

just epic

thanks fAM

I just watched this shit the other night because I've heard so many people hype it up and all the internet reviews were really glowing.

After the one cool fight scene it just turned into a Korean high school drama with incest.

Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance is superior

I liked Hwal - The Boy by Kim Ki-Duk and I still have a copy of Samaritan Girl lying around that I didn't get to watch yet.
I'm a cyborg but that's ok was really good, too.

What the fuck was his problem?

Was the fact that Mi-do was Oh Dae Su's daughter supposed to be a big reveal near the end? I thought it was obvious from the beginning.

this
the whole idea was that the average audience member wasn't going to pay close attention to the "first time" they met in the sushi bar

Pic related, anything by Wong Kar-wai, Tokyo Story

Shitmido is chink warkino

Saw the fucking twist from a mile away, oldboy was predictable as fuck and the action parts were garbage. Fuck off cucks.

Chunking express is real asian Kíno

>asian
>kino
nice b8

Can anyone give a good reason why OP's pic related killed himself in that elevator? Someone asked me once and I came up with some bullshit about how his whole life was around the movie's plot and now he had nothing to live for.

It's a really weak and shoddy explanation, and I wonder if there's better out there.

Honestly, all Asian girls look alike to me, so I just gave the protag the benefit of knowing what his own offspring looked like. I defered to his judgment, so to speak.

mr vengeance was fucking great tho

was not expecting it to be that good, shit

every film i have seen from those new wave korean directors have been perfect

i guess there is not more to it that his sister was the love of his life and without her he couldn't live, but since he was korean he had to take vengeance before killing himself

idk

whats up with koreans and revenge??

I never thought I'd like a foreign coming of age movie about teenage girls as much as I like 'LOVE & POP.' Anno the meme-master has a cool way with montage.

What more reason do you need? The guy wanted to die ever since he lost his sister, fucking with Oh Desu or whatever his name is was just one last thing before kicking off.

breathless (2008)

anno's live action stuff is pretty fucking cool
chungking express goat
this is also really good

...

I think that people who work in animation tend to make really cool stuff when they switch to live-action. Drawing out every detail in every frame and controlling everything that your audience sees gives you a good feel for visuals.

Mamoru Oshii made some pretty cool live-action movies too.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_(cultural)

this was horrible

...

Societal taboo against incest

Raid 2 is the only good scene of Oldboy stretched to an entire film

This.

...

Ur horrible

My nigga.

>almost 2 hour old thread
>no anime

saw oldboy years ago but never bothered with more korean films

but the last month I have seen
the host
vengeance movies
the chaser
save the green planet
memories of murder
the mother
thirst
i saw the devil

give me more??

mr vengeance I really liked tho. same for mother and memories of murder. the chaser was also really great.

I saw the devil is a good first date movie

The music was annoying. Otherwise, not bad.

Wonderful movie.

Barking Dogs never Bite: Loved it. Very chill movie.

Man from Nowhere: Well-done action movie.

New World: good mob flick

Castaway on the Moon: Loved it.

True kino

Didn't have the same air of mystery that I liked about Old Boy, but I'd say they're pretty close.

I'll give you one if you only post live-action the rest of the thread.

This movie kind of disappointed me. Considering the premise and the outrageous outfit of the guy on the posters I was expecting something wild, off the wall, and colourful, but the movie I got was far more subdued. I appreciated the weird turns that the plot took but rather than punk-Brian De Palma like I wanted I got something more like an edgy and heartless Takeshi Kitano.

Can we agree that Mrs Vengeance was the worst?

...

I was going to list some but you started the thread with fucking Old Boy. Stick to Tarantino.

thanks a lot. will watch barking dogs now.

how is this? wanted to watch it when i was younger, my neighbor had it but said i wasn't mature enough to see it. im 22 now so time to watch it i guess

Absolutely, no questions asked.
Godawful pacing. Shitty execution.

He should have chose Marvel and not to go into Fast 7.

and en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hidden_Blade

Was Ong Bak the martial-arts masterpiece of its time? I think it worked so well on every level.

...

Why do people only post recent movies every time there's an asian kino thread ? It's kinda sad seeing shitty korean action flicks get so much attention.

gotchu senpai

>complaining about selections without providing your own
Why do people do this? Quality content can only exist when you create it.

some people hate it some people like just go in blind senpai

Why are Korean movies exclusively meme trash like Oldboy and Snowpiercer, while Japanese films are unique and actually good? I've yet to see an actually good Korean flick.

>Oldboy
>oh, I hypnotized you into fucking your daughter or something

fucking stupid

Korean culture is shit because they are an artificial state composed of rape-babies who only exist on the good-will of powers greater than they'll ever be and they're perpetually asshurt about how shit they are.

Or at least that's what the Japanese on Sup Forums tell me. Korean food is cool. Posting more Murakami.

I thought Oldboy was pretty good but yeah, some mediocre movies seem to get a pass simply because they're Korean. Films like The Chaser and The Man from Nowhere wouldn't get any praise if they weren't.

One of my favourites, any samurai movies on par with this (aside from Kurosawa's stuff) ? Haven't seen a lot.

It's my personal favourite Samurai movie. If you know of it and Kurosawa's stuff you problem know most of the best stuff. Have you seen Hara-Kiri?

>Based Mifune

Patrician kino. Too good for tv

Fallen Angels by Wong Kai Wai is my GOAT kino

Chungking Express somehow took me a really long time to understand but it's true kino

Mezon Do Himiko is rather unknown outside of Japan but really good.

Why has my HHH thread been deleted?

I just downloaded Shu Qi's porn pics and softcore scenes, pure kino

LMAO, the funny thing that nobody ever mention that oldboy is actually based a japanese manga

Make a thread about older movies then, dummy.

dem fucking lips man

then it's basically just capeshit

Delete this immediately before you trigger the weeb any further for liking things that he doesn't like.

If you like badass females, lots of gore & exploitation. Make sure to check out some old pinky violence movies.

old pinky movies are my fav guilty pleasure

I always wondered if that shot was some kind of homage to Meiko Kaji

Hard Boiled is great, but The Killer is John Woo's best movie and one of my all-time favorites.

Hard Boiled is better

also Face Off is great for so many reasons

Who else Korean Variety here?

define softcore scenes, or just give me a google term

She showed bush in some of them.

I love the bit where America swooces in and liberates the shit out of their friendship.

>A dirty Carnival
>A bittersweet life
>9 Iron
>The yellow sea

Why would I wanna see a p***y?

Because pussy RULES.

There are no good Asian films, and any of them that even come close are just derivatives of the works of Western directors. This is a FACT.

> people actually think you just need to be an edgy contrarian to be patrician

I know your posting style. You're the guy from kpg who always complains about jmusic not being more popular.

I don't visit Sup Forums anymore or listen to weeaboo music. I'm just a cinema lover that hates modern Jap and Korean cinema.

Stray Dog has been my favorite movie for a few years now, I really liked Red Spectacles as well though

I wish Oshii did more live action Kerberos Saga films

i really enjoy sogo ishii's early films

anything else similar? (ib tetsuo, 964 pinnochio)

I can't believe this film is a indie
