Plenty of bands started out cringey, writing lyrics and instrumentals isn't it that easy

you sucked major donkey balls

Please Please Me was garbage
WTB Has 2 or 3 pretty good tracks
A Hard Days Night was about Half and Half
and Beatles for Sale was when they started showing some decent improvement.

(I'm assuming 64' is the cutoff for 'early' beatles.)

This guy liked it

Please Please Me is a rocking album, honestly quite a bit of fun and they sing wonderfully. Sure their originals weren't as good as the covers, but don't tell me you don't like Twist and Shout!

I am flat out telling you I hate that song and after a few listens it gets old.

I was a Beatles 'stan' for 3 years, trust me.

You guys are fucking idiots that don't understand harmony at all. What the Beatles were doing on this record is still impressive to this day. The Beatles early records were some of their best.

>Beatles For Sale
>One of their best...

How can someone have this shit taste?

AHDN is their best album

Plenty of other bands in the 50s and early 60s harmonized. Why are the beatles so special for doing it?

>Literally every album between 66 and 68
>AHDN is their best

You sure, man?

Please Please Me 8/10
With The Beatles 9/10
Hard Day's Night 10/10
Beatles for Sale 9/10
Help! 9/10
Rubber Soul 10/10
Revolver 10/10

Yellow Submarine 6/10
Let It Be 7/10
Let It Be Naked 9/10
Abbey Road 10/10
Past Masters Vol. 2 9/10

Not just their best early album, their best album period.

If I fell is their best song and quite possibly the best song of all time

Can you give a little more detail why it beats their later work, please?

>Please Please Me 8/10
....Christ..

Why don't you like please please me? Let me guess, not expirimental enough?

You use 10/10 too liberally. Unfortunately standard good for most people is a 7 instead of 5 which really fucks with actual rating systems
>TL;DR I don't trust your system

Those albums are all legitimately 10/10s though. Rubber soul and MMM are 9s however

>Let It Be Naked above Let it Be

Sorry, Phil Spector saved that album.

>not expirimental enough
I wouldn't word it like that.

I liked the use of keyboards/synthesizers in their later work more than the standard guitars on their first 2 albums.

It just makes the instrumentation more interesting.

This. I wouldn't say it's their best but it is underrated. So many people write off their early work.

Their songwriting, melodic compositions, and harmony are all perfect of AHDN. Put it this way, it's the perfect pop rock album and one of the best albums of all time

you guys don't like anna wtf is wrong with you children

> Rubber Soul are 9's
I didn't know it was possible to be so wrong on this thread

>the ringo song

Close I know 10/10s are rare but come on, it's the Beatles!

beatles for sale is fuckin dope tho

>their most accessible work is the pleb filter

Has this happened with any other band?

Depeche Mode comes to mind.

Radiohead, with Pablo Honey being the king of Crosleycore

real easy to hate on an album 53 years later.
way to go, op.
great thread.

>Sweet Jesus they sucked major donkey balls.
What's wrong with it?

Please Please Me is the only album with 10/10 catchy songs, song after song, from start to finish. No other album compares.

He's a pleb that can't appreciate harmony

(Not OP)
The vocals are not the problem with the album.

It's the boring instrumentation.

The later albums of the beatles had a lot more interesting musical elements (More keyboards, some orchestras) while this album is just guitars and drums, which isn't as interesting musically.

Hope that helps clarify things.

>this album is just guitars and drums
So? Have you never heard rock music before?

You completely glossed over my point.

My point was that the later albums more varied instrumentals can make the earlier albums seem less interesting in comparison.

>My point was that the later albums
Are you comparing an album made in 1969 to one made in 1963?

I am comparing their albums. Yes.

And I never specifically said 1969. Don't know where you got that from. 'Later albums' could be anything past 65, and a 2 year difference isn't that much.

>I am comparing their albums. Yes.
Oh so you don't know what context is.
>Don't know where you got that from
You've never heard Abbey road before?
>2 year difference isn't that much.
In the 60s, two years made a lot of difference.

>You've never heard Abbey road before?
Yes. I've heard Abbey Road. But again, I was just never SPECIFICALLY referring to that album and I was referring to all of their post-65 works so I don't know why you chose 69 specifically.

So you admit you don't know what context is?

I suppose not. What 'context' are you referring to exactly?

Well you do realize that most rock bands in 1963 were guitar groups, right? You are comparing one thing to another that hadn't even existed yet

Okay rate em' bitches
Anthology 1
BBC 1
BBC 2
Please Please Me
With The Beatles
Hard Day's Night
Beatles For Sale
Past Masters Vol. 1

Fair point, I'll admit.

Please Please Me is an awkward mess.
With The Beatles is Pop Perfection
Hard Day's Night is their first master work
Beatles for Sale is two steps foreword two steps back
