Well after the last Olympics when we did so bad, the government implemented a funding programme which boosted funding for the sports we are likely to do better ie swimming and decreased funding for others. So it makes sense the focus on this year's Olympics is on swimming.

Wouldn't it be easier to get golds in the literally who "sports" that don't require an entire team? We have a large total amount of athletes (~420, 4th largest in the world) but many of them (~170) are in teams reducing the total amount of medals we can win.
