Is joining the military a good way to get your life on track?

Is joining the military a good way to get your life on track?

All of my friends are either drug addicts or no hopers.

My family doesn't give a fuck about me.

Thoughts?

Get back what you put in. No different than getting your shit together outside the military.

you say your life is off track yet you only mentioned your friends and family

Go make a prank Channel on YouTube

this
you can still be a hopeless cunt inside the military that no one likes

if being in the military helped people get their "life on tracks", we would know by then! don't user, it's a trap

Hell, you can be an even bigger one because you think you're hot shit and give them more reasons to not like you.

I joined straight out of high school with no prior life experience (never changed a tire, never held a job, never did anything aside from JROTC and go to my bros house on the weekends and get drunk) and I love it and hate it.

If you're serious about the organization, then it will square you away, but otherwise, you're just gonna become a welfare queen essentially and learn how easy it is to be employed with the government and not do jack shit for your money.

Im stationed in Korea and i never thought i would be here in a million years. "Fight Tonight" to all my army fags

YO WHAT FUCKING BASE YOU NIGGER?

Suwon AB here

Casey/hovey right now move tomorrow to stanley

and with that is everything you need to know

better question would be to ask about job roles and people actually do on a day to day basis
i had no fuckin clue what cunts did cos my recruiters where airforce officers for an army role, oh yeah, recruiters will tell you lies
all
fucking
lies

Good way to die for nothing.

Ah, so youre 2 ID i take it? Hows things up north? Im Area III and shit is beyond stupid over here, but it's easy work so I shouldnt complain all that much

It does get your life on track. I guess. I mean, it can, but, depends on the branch. As a US Marine, it definitely did for me. When I see the other branches being degenerate fucks, I tend to think only the Marines gets you on track.

Exactly. Did 5 years and there is no sense in helping those who give two shits about helping themselves.

Its borring here i traveled both places all in my 1st day. Went to camp red cloud today, way nicer.
Yes 2id

how about you learn a profession, get a hobby, or actually do something more productive than being a target dummy for isis

For us, it's either go to Osan for your legal fun, go to Humphreys to shop (Osan PX is supposedly shit, but I havent paid attention really), or theres a massage parlor that is a well kept secret around here that some get their fuck on. Funny as shit considering the soldiers on our base would prefer to fuck the korean prostitutes than the females here cause a few got STI's.

But yeah, pretty much the same shit as your situation i take it

you should join
i mean you can kill brown people for a living and get the medal of honor
not to mention all that pussy

We aren't fighting isis out there btw. There's about 20 terrorist organizations out in afghanistan, but not isis.

Found the recruiter.

sounds like your fam int worth worrying about so dont let them influence what you do , try to distance ya self from ya mates they will only drag you down a, as a 20 year user/dealer of brown i can tell you druggy life is crap and you can do better but it wont happen if you don't ditch ya mates i have ditch my mates last year and it has saved me so much trouble. but i would say the armed forces ain't the answer then you will just be some one else's servent and you will be told to take part in actions that are not good for your self or your country as its run by a bunch of total cunts who use the army to commit their war crimes. so just move away and reinvent yaself. do WHAT YOU want to do b/ro

Thanks fam i keep this in mind.
How long you there?

My nephew thought the same thing and joined the military. Unfortunately he was KIA in Afghanistan last year. No life back on track.

Im here for a year, but i consider it more like 9 months cause im gonna be gone for december and then i start the clearing process in March, and i wont be showing up for work when that happens cause ill be busy af with tryna get tf out. But ive been in for 4 months and hate it already; commo fucking sucks. So does Korea, but i just drink whenever i can get away with it so it isnt all that bad

No youll learn the military is drug addicts and alcoholics and because all the free money its actually more of a problem. The. When you get out the military youll learn you and half of your veterand friends minimum are all drug addicts or alcoholics because you didnt take NOT HAVING LIFE SKILLS seriously but you're out now and uncle sam wont help you and you cant get a job because the economy actually doesnt want to hire vets at all theyre liars so have fun Op. (8 year marine vet)

That's how a lot of people get out of terrible situations in their lives. The army alone is probably 1/3 people who had a shitty situation at home and needed a way out. The military will straighten you out a bit if you pass basic training and get you out of a drug infested environment but a lot of people still drink heavily. On the bright side, people tend to also look out for each other more so you'll have DD programs for your binge nights, financial assistance for schooling and insurance and you'll be somewhat in better shape than a lot of people in America. The trade off is that you will have to just grin and bear it whenever bullshit assignments come up. Do your research on MOSs, study for the aptitude tests your chosen branch has, stay out of trouble, kick any and all drug habits (even weed because the military is 0 tolerance and you will be gone at the drop of a hat), and you should be able to get a decent job. If you're not trying to do work and want a semi easy job, sign up for a quartermaster job like a fueler (92F) or a water treatment specialist (92W). They sit on their asses half the day and do light work for the other half.

THIS. THIS SO MUCH.

As i said earlier, I joined straight out of high school with no life experience. That includes work wise. So I had figured the Army would help, and it honestly hasnt. I feel retarded because I signed up as a radio operator, and i just drive trucks around a defunct flight line.

>if you join, CHOOSE A JOB THAT CAN TRANSLATE WELL INTO CIVILIAN. SERIOUSLY. Some jobs are awesome and you actually learn shit, but others, like mine, suck dicks and youre gonna essentially waste 4 years of your life

Im probably going to explore a little then completely play video games the rest of the time I'm here to make time go by faster

True that. The job market is pretty terrible out there, even as a US marine. Many of my buddies who got out are smoking weed now. Hell, I even smoke sometimes.

When did you get here? Have you talked to your branch manager yet? The sooner the better fam; im pushing it with my 4 months of no contact, but once you pass 6, whatever base you have is the base youre stuck with

Barely got here. You in af right?

You fuckin rines are more fucked than half the other branches bud. Half of you act like you're hoped up on cocaine and the others seem to just fucking hate life. The Navy puts you guys in nice places though so if I wanted a tour of the world without being a boat bitch I'd consider your branch.

Poor rines. I kinda feel sorry for you. Most combat MOSs and hard case units end up like this because they come out with mental conditions and no filter for the way they think.

Marine Corps 4 years ago. I just work for Stanley steemer these days. Pays pretty well. Also, fuck the air force, bunch of pansy asses.

Bump

You seems lost .. Going into army will fuck up your life.

There is 2 kinds of ppl that join army :
Those who want to escape "life", a lost love, fuckface "friends", a low quality life, a life without blood.

And those who are made for it. Inteligent people, doing good in sport, loving their country, doing a lot of sport.

Sure, you maybe have not all those traits.

What I mean is, that, even myself, I wanted to join army, like some friends of me. We were young, we didn't wanted to have a "normal" life. We felt like no one cared of us like we did.

Then years passed and now I'm alone with my best friend, doing good studies.

Do I regret not joining the army ? Sometime I think about it, I wanted to be "a béret vert", like my friend.

But I don't have good eyes.

And my friend was depressed as fuck, he realised that he could lost his long time GF, he realised that army at the lowest rank is worst than being free in your country. Even with nothing to do.

You should go to psy. If you say 'lol psy im not retarded faggot xdd", go fuck yourself bro. Because If you believe that soldier don't go to psy, you're not in the real world.

Otherwise, you should take time to rethink about your life and fix it.

Because the picture you posted are pure soldier, it means that their are almost atlethic pro, they are for sure, very educated.

Army like to make an huge propaganda about guns and fun. But, you sould watch the movie Jarhead. 95% of soldier are send to wait, wait, wait. And wait again.

Army pros :
If you are good for it, you will love it.
A small amount of people will be honored to meet you.

Cons :
Its stop there.
No one will care about you when you are in.
If you did go to army to be noticed, you will regret your choice and may end like an huge % of young guy who go to it. Leaving it after some days. You won't be paid much.
A lot of people will see you as a war machine killing babies.
You won't have any skills after it. You will be even more lost.

Sounds like your life is shit man, joining the military could be a good option for you to get away from that toxic environment you're in now.

Just pick a good job and if you like it fuck it make a career out of it and if you don't like it towards the end of your contract re enlist and lat move to a different mos.

Or just go to college after you get out so the military pays for it and your life will be back on a good a track.

Soldier here and THIS
We share a base with marines in Virginia and they act like they own the place even though the entrance sign clearly say US Army base.
I live next to camp pendleton and i see alot of you guys get drunk and that's one reason why i joined the army. Alot of retired marines tell their kids to join anyother branch besides the marines.

That moment when your typing this and hear taps :(

Chairforce*

I was at Ft. Gordon for AIT and we lived near a Marine barracks. Dunno if they were there as AIT students too, which would explain a bit, but ive never seen a quieter bunch in my life.

Bump

We may be more fucked up, but the discipline is much better. Sat down at the chow hall in Bagram, and met some army fucks there. We all have our rifles slung and pointing at the ground.

These army fucks just put their machine guns and shit down on the bench with the barrel pointing at their allies. Pisses me off.

Federal service guarantees you citizenship.

>Use pews to bar doors when base MPs order an inspection due to reports
>Threaten to kill anyone who comes near and isn't a Marine

I'm not religious but most Marines I've ever had the misfortune of interacting with are fucking psychotic scumbags.

Military is great. Free schooling, massive choice of trades, employers love a military background, shitloads of cool toys to play with, heaps of people to meet, free travel, decent pay.

The downside is going on deployment and getting shot at. That bit isn't so much fun.
Oh, and sometimes having to kill people. That's a lot less fun than it sounds.

The ARMY is pretty shit, too, but they just broke into people's homes and stole their shit. I don't recall any of them ever barricading themselves in and threatening to kill everyone.

This seems like common sense to me.

>employers love a military background

You have to specify in which states this is true because it sure as fuck isn't true in all of them.

Hey user
I was an idiot all through highschool and did drugs and drank more than i studied, i joined the army after i graduated and it was the best decision i couldve made.

If you're not an immasculinated man only join the military when you need to join the military, not to hope for a helping hand to get your life straight.

If you join the ground forces/infantry, you better be ready to die. If you don't die, don't be such a puss and come back with PTSD.

Buggered if I know. Ausfag... just mention you got trained in the military and employers throw themselves at you

Because you certainly came back well-adjusted, right?

kek

18 year Army vet here. Join the Air Force and get an MOS that translates outside the military- medical shit is good, logistics, human resources. Also, get an education. At least associates degree. Then, if you make a dreadful mistake and stay you can go officer. In that case, you have a chance of a "normal" existance.

Don't be a grunt retard.
Source- joined as a grunt retard.

doesnt help in darwin

Not here in the states. Military sentiment has been historically shaky here but it's polarized so much that employers in some of the more liberal states will outright refuse to hire you and even kick you out of their building if they so much as smell a hint of military in your life. What's worse is our bitch-ass president encourages it.

That's because most of the ex-soldiers up there were either discharged or dropped out.

OP here, also an Ausfag. Are you in the ADF?

No you. Military no good user. You study math hard, browse /sci/, compute hard things. Show computes to big companies. You life on high maglev track very fast

Some of their jobs sound good but arent. Be wary of your choice. Anything medical is amazing, along with people related shit.

>free travel

>tfw this is one of the reasons why i want to join in the millitary

At least don't go about being a huge pussy about it. Did my WW2 vet grandfather do such? No, not even when he told his war stories. He told me that the modern military with these wounded soldier charity programs and such are huge pussies compared to back then.

It worked for me.

They'll inject you with nanobots that'll assess your timeline and help you master your destiny.

That, or you'll commit suicide.

That's rough man. I've never been ashamed to say I was in the army.

No. I'm a civvie now. Have been for a few years.

Back then they spat on him and called him a child-killing rapist. Is that what you want?

the only job up in darwin is to defend the centrelink with long poles to poke the boongas away

what user said^

the military is good if your not a bitch like onision. but do something that you can use once you get out.

Recently left the military about 2 years ago now I think. Similar situation, foster homes, no one gave a shit about me . turned 20 and said fuck it Im not going to live this life, went to a base told them I just want to live a happy life. I managed to get a education through them and Now I live in japan teaching English, I am engaged to an amazing woman, and currently Im back in Canada doing some random shit. Yes, the military is an amazing place to make something if you have nothing,

You were a man in an army of men that kills other men. Do you fuckers think that going into the military is going to make you a hero? As i said, go into the military when you NEED to, not for your own personal gain (Enlarging that ego for being a militaryfag).

Also recently found that wounded soldier program was enduring a possible of a scandal.
foxnews.com/us/2016/03/10/wounded-warrior-project-reportedly-fires-top-executives-amid-spending-controversy.html

This is a good example of what can happen if you're smart about things.

It might not go this way, but at least its an opportunity to get shit sorted and make something out of nothing.

Ah true, what do you do now? And what did you do beforehand?

Military is a good way to get your life on track IF you have no better options. You will learn discipline, determination, respect, teamwork, possible leadership skills, applicable job training (depending on your mos), and you'll get a GI Bill. 3 sqaures and a cot, full medical, dental and optical.

But hurr durr duhhh idnt da militawy badd???

You were a man who was drafted into an AMRY you didn't want to be in to kill men you didn't want to kill because someone else ordered you to under penalty of imprisonment and consequent life-fuckery or death.

Well-deserved abuse, I'm sure.

Yeah, and they also came back as fucking heroes. WWII guys had the best war in the sense that their recovery phase was so amazing. Why else do you think Vietnam vets are so fucked up?

Don't perpetuate bullshit man; war sucks all around. The more support we can get for our boys the better

ARMY*

Now I work with disabled kids. Its good... I can't have any myself (an amusing tale involving a bicycle, a landmine, and my balls).

Before the army, I did fuck all. Drank too much, mostly. Joined on a whim. Next thing you know, I'm sober and getting my dumb arse put on all sorts of punishments. Straightened up after that... amazing what standing to attention for a few hours in a monsoon will do for your attitude

>inb4 His grandfather was german LAWL.

We don't need weakling like yourself. Either kill yourself or get good.

It's a good way to die by violence

Heh, I had to pull QRF in the rain one time and I was never so motivated in my life. As long as I get to move around and do shit, being out in the rain makes me one of the most hooah soldiers the army has ever seen

This, but I would add it can definitely give you the opportunity to get your shit together if you're willing to work at it and listen to others

I would say yes, considering your situation.

Navy branch is probably your best choice. They get to see a lot of the world and can be stationed almost anywhere. Though if you are more interested in actually seeing action, I suppose the marines is what you want to go with, you crazy fuck.

Sounds good! That may be just what I need, who knows. What did you do whilst in the army? And sorry about your balls pal

I just want to put out your type of boots (Air Force ones) are some of the most interesting to look at.

>violence

TRIGGERED

>this
If you are willing to do what you are told for a few years you can set yourself up for a good start in life.

Fuckin A
I'd carve my way through a million bad guys with a Swiss army knife just for a tarp.

If you join, PLEASE help the issue, dont be a part of the problem. We have a lot of dickhead personel all over the place and it seriously fucks with the organization as a whole. Be that soldier that cares for his boys, no matter your rank or position, and always take care of them whenever the need arises. Seriously, so many pricks in the military today; I genuinely have a pretty good dislike towards a lot of military personel because of my experiences with them.

Out of school me and a bunch of close friends joined the army. Joining the army actually fucked up my life unfortunately, I had a psychotic breakdown that I've struggled with for years after.

I am a fucking cnc machinest in the AF, not a target just supporting a mission

Soldier is a good job

I guess its because I'm a POG and thats the most infantry I would ever get in the next 4 years, so I just enjoyed the...immersion, if you would call it that. Haha

It's a good way to become an imperialist schill and fuck your mental and physical health forever.

> Soldiering = Murdering

What an original and witty joke

I got a job straight out of the Navy, I have never missed a job offer I actually interviewed for. Just choose your job wisely when you go in

I work IT at the air force. Trust me, it's an employable skill

I was pretty much a worthless NEET for a few years after high school, Joined the army and now 3 and a half years later i'm a team leader with plenty in savings, and looking into taking some college. Also just bought a new car. But as other anons said you get what you put into it, I was lucky enough to have a good team leader mentor me and put me on track.

Kek, this humanitarian left wing boipucccilover

Not everyone is cut out for it. I mean, certain scenarios you go through are unpredictable and frankly quite fucked up. This is the mean reason I think that the military deserves all the respect that they are given - Not for defending 'my freedom' or any of that bullshit, but because they are making personal sacrifices in order to acquire the skills and training to perform at optimal levels in combat, which would be of outmost importance in case we ever get invaded or something. I appreciate it, mate. Hope you manage to deal with your shit one day.

Did someone say... immersion?
