What are some good places to live in America? And why? And what are some of the shittiest places in the U.S.? And why?

What are some good places to live in America? And why? And what are some of the shittiest places in the U.S.? And why?

Do any of you faggots want to discuss where you live/places you have lived and what it's like there? What you like/dislike about it? And where you'd most like to live? If so, post a reply.

If anyone feels like replying to my specific situation, I currently live in Arizona, in a small town that is about 80 miles north of Phoenix, but I work in Scottsdale, which borders Phoenix. And I was born and raised in Chandler, Az, which is an East Valley suburb of the Phoenix Metro area. So I'm basically a lifelong Arizonan. Other than Arizona, the only other placed I've lived is the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Florida, area, where I lived for about 5 years. And while I have always been proud to be an Arizona native, I must say that I really miss the Tampa/Palm Harbor area where I lived and worked from 2007-2012. The humidity fucking sucked, but the people there were really nice and I loved my job, so I often think about trying to move back there.

So, with the thought of considering trying to move to another part of the U.S. within the next year or so, I'm curious what some other good places to live might be?

And if any of you have lived in the Tampa area, is it as great as I think it was? Or is Arizona as great as many people think it is, and I should be more appreciative of being fortunate enough to be living here in Az?

If you feel like replying and sharing some thoughts or personal experiences about good places to live in America, please feel free to reply.

Just move down to north Glendale or North Phoenix. The cost of living here is just too cheap to give up.

Never go to Fresno California, Shitty place, drivers are fucking insane, the only reason I visit is to see family.

Goteem trips

Nice housing, relatively crime free. Blue collar as fuck. Renovated area, quick access to the 101 to get aound the city quickly. I currently live up near thunderbird mountain off of 59th and Beardsley and it's been my favorite home I've ever lived in.

As for preferences/necessities and things that I enjoy doing and would like to be around/have available, I deal poker for a living, so casinos/gaming/poker rooms is important. I also like to fish (freshwater only, but I've heard that saltwater fishing is also lots of fun), so lakes/rivers/streams/ponds would be nice. And beaches are definitely cool. And I would also like to live in a relatively safe area, with some mom n' pops stores around, as I like to live more of a modest lifestyle with friendly people around.

> Pic related: A picture of what I think are the Superstition Mountains east of Mesa/Apache Junction.

I think PHX is one of the best. Although housing is on the high side, it's cheap for the large city. People are outgoing and chill, you're a few hours from beach or snow, and the year round weather is top tier.

What part of Glendale and North Phoenix are you referring to? It must be far north, as much/most of the West Valley and North Valley are crime-ridden and fucking ghetto. From what I gather, the West valley is probably the worst part of the Phoenix Metro area nowadays and seems to have the most crime and violence.

From what I've heard, Fresno is absolutely awful, fucked-up and ghetto like the bad parts of Oakland, and lots of racists and crooked cops. I don't think I'd even want to go there to visit family.

How far is this from where the 101 and the I-17 meet? And is the area/most neighborhoods nice, clean and reasonably safe? I actually work at Talking Stick in Scottsdale, so I'd like to try to find something within 15-20 miles from there. How much do you pay for rent where you live? And is it a house or apartment? How many rooms?

Where do you live now? And how much time have you spent in the phoenix area? Also, what other cities have you lived in/do you have to compare it to?

> Pic related: A view of the Papago Mountains near the Scottsdale/Phoenix border.

Where do you live? Like Payson or Prescott or something?

You sound at home in what, Prescuit? Look into Northern MN, fresh water fishing year round, not like PHX, casinos held by tribes, mom n pop stores all over, safe, but it's got some nasty winter storms. As the old timers here say, 'you don't have to shovel sunshine'.

SD if you like a sausage fest with no jobs or open apartments

Good guess. Yes, Payson currently. I used to work at Talking Stick, then I left to move back up to Payson, but things haven't worked out up here as well as I had hoped they would, so I ended up getting my job back at Talking Stick. I have commuted each day a few times, but I've stayed somewhere in the valley for most of my shifts. Either in east Mesa or Chandler. And it seems as though I now have a place to stay (at a friend's house) in Chandler whenever I want to, so I'm really happy about that. However, I would still like to try to find a place of my own within the next couple months.

I have absolutely fucking terrible credit (two of my credit scores are around 450, yes, seriously), and I'm pretty much constantly struggling, so finding a place to rent/someone to rent to me is usually a struggle, so it's not like I have the luxury of moving anywhere I'd like to move to. So I have to take that in to consideration. I grew up in Chandler, so I'm familiar with the East Valley, so if I have a choice, though, I would like to try to find a place in the East Valley. Preferably, Chandler or Mesa, or maybe Gilbert, Tempe or the poor part of Scottsdale (the south part, near Scottsdale Rd. and Thomas). However, I'm willing to consider looking in other parts of the valley, if necessary/beneficial.

Seattle is hit and miss

...

Live in Gilbert now. Have been in ABQ, Fontana, CA, Maryland suburb, N MN, and Mexico.
We go to PHX or Scottsdale about every weekend. Restaurants, events, and people are plentiful.

ABQ is small for me, N MN has high cost of living but is very relaxing, weather permitting.

And outrageous fucking rent, from what I understand. I currently pay $775 for a 2-bedroom house with a yard, and from what I gather, 1-bedroom apartments in San Diego often go for like $1,000-$1,500, depending on the area. However, most people seem to love the San Diego area, so there must be lots of good things there. And that also must be why the rent is so expensive.

Do you live in San Diego now? If so, do you like it? And what do you do for work? Also, how much do you pay for rent?

can anyone explain to a britfag how it would be possible to move to usa?

like, what do i need to set up before I even get to america in the first place?
and how do i judge WHERE to go in the first place?

america is so vast with so many states and then cities and towns within those states its crazy. some places are hella expensive whereas others are dirt cheap
some have hotter weather than others and some have tropical storms every now and again.

seriously, unless i get a job which allows me to move how the fuck do i decide bros?

Good places in America

Lol

phx here. i used to live in las cruces but got the fuck out as soon as possible. that whole town is like a failed drug rehab.

a visa

i know that you fucktard im talking about locations.

I've lived all over the US. My personal favorite places to live are medium-sized cities just west of the east coast. Philly, Columbus, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Charlotte. Also, Austin, TX is great.

You're probably tired of hearing this, but get another or a second job. Also get your finances in order, create a budget or you'll never get ahead.

I live in Tucson, its all the good parts of Arizona but without the bad stuff of phoenix. Would recommend.

Another city that is a nice place to live, but without outrageous rent costs, right? Also, lots of drug issues and homeless problems, from what I've heard. Do you live there? If so, do you like it? What do you do for work? And how much is your rent?

I'm curious, what did you think of Albuquerque? It does seem like it's a nice place, with some great scenery and actual winters that get quite cold, which I like. However, I've heard that ABQ has some really fucking bad areas with major crime problems and lots of violence. Do you think that the worst parts of Albuquerque are as bad as/worse than the bad parts of Phoenix? And what is rent like there?

I've lived in Harrisburg, PA and northern virginia in various places. I love NoVa. People here love to complain about it but this place is honestly fantastic. There's loads to do, everything is relatively close by, the people are alright, and it's essentially a bubble where none of the other problems that the rest of the country has don't exist.

>TX is great
Are you feckin kidding all of us user?

What do you do for a living?

I sell sexual toys why?

study/work atm
but in future most likely get your usual business office type job

TX is great. Dallas and Houston suck ass but both are super cheap to live in. Austin is full of hipster faggots. However the Hill Country is really beautiful. You're probably a fucking Yankee.

I just got back from AZ (Nevada border), the question is wtf do people live there? 107F temperatures, fuck that. Northwest is where is at. Everything is nice and green, water actually tastes great..

Just don't fucking come to Texas. We are already full of brown people and you god damn idiots from Arizona and fucking California. Go elsewhere.

What part of Phoenix do you live in? And what's it like there? Nice area? Ghetto neighborhoods? Crime and violence? How much do you pay for rent? And what do you do for work? And is Las Cruces more gangster/ghetto than the bad parts of Phoenix? Also, what brought you to Phoenix? And do you like it here overall?

I hear you, and I appreciate the advice. I've just been through some really rough times in recent years and it's fucked me up and drained me mentally, emotionally and physically. So, I don't have as much energy and motivation as I'd like to have. However, I am tired of struggling and being in tough spots, so I would genuinely like to improve my situation. Which is part of the reason I decided to go back to Talking Stick.

Don't judge Austin based on the state it's in.

Been a while since I've been in ABQ but the bad parts were scaled down compared to PHX, but the bad areas are larger if that makes sense. Weather wise, yes, very tolerable, chill people, but it lacks the big city aspect that brings good restaurants and events for me.

>can anyone explain to a britfag how it would be possible to move to usa?

whos the fucktard now?

Yeah immigration will expedite that visa

If you get a professional degree it will be much easier to work/live in the US. Stay out of trouble in your home country.

Oklahoma City is pretty awesome
>high growth
>low unemployment
>new development
>cheap
>well populated but not crowded
>land is plentiful
>only minor traffic issues
>3 hours from Dallas
> numerous hiking destinations within a 2 hour drive
>vast multiculturalism without the annoying liberals
I couldn't imagine living elsewhere

Aren't there a lot of niggers in OKC and Tulsa these days?

must admit the wisdom of this statement

RATIONALLY SPEAKING DUMB SUMMERFAG

real life isnt easy and moves can be stressfully long procedures

a university degree? no problem at all.
whats the best coast to live in? or stay in the middle somewhere?

It's a start user, but not the end. Keep looking and watch your spending. It's really pulled me out of the shit. Get some self help books from the library if you must. We're all rooting for you, even if OP is a faggot.

Move to canada. Eastern canada is a whole experience in its own

just move the fuck outta cave creek or happy valley or wherever you're living to central phx

and by central phoenix I mean one of the nice white neighborhoods north of downtown obvs

It depends on your industry. Just know that the US does stringent background checks and obtaining long term visas are expensive. The government expects you to be able to take care of yourself so you'll most likely be where you can get a job. West coast is usually more expensive, so is New England. The south is cheap but unless you are in oil and gas there are an abundance of professional jobs.

Tfw people think it's smart to move to the middle of the desert before impending infrastructural collapse .

North Eastern Utah here. Don't move here it's all full up

> no traffic issue
> plenty of perfect hikes (and even climbs) within 30 min drive
> an interesting city within 1h drive
> uncountable warm-hearted communities in lovely villages within 1-infinity min drive
> 4 foreign countries borders within 3h drive
> (multi)cultural activities
> archeology
> warm-hearted communities
> fruits and vegetables bought from farms
> health and well-being
come to France (or elsewhere in Europe)

Yeah, I pay $1600 on a 68k salary

>overtaken by mudslimes
>taxes out the arse
france is shit

Moorefag here, OKC is a shithole, terrible roads, payscale is shit compared to just about anywhere else, religious fuckwads infest the streets and government. Yeah dude is right, crime rate and nigger infestation is high, not to mention the beaners closing in on us. Only small advantages I can give it is the cost of living is low and some of the suburbs would be good to raise a family. Otherwise, stay away.

Currently avondale fag but grew up in buckeye and tonopah.
Can confirm all the niggers are horrible in the west valley
All I hear is
Muh west side gangsters
Muh ashy skin cuz dry as fuck
I'm one of those half beaners that don't speak Spanish but still feel safe in good city away from niggers
And all the white kids are hibernating inside because the sun hurts their skin
Easy for jobs in west valley cuz thugs don't want to work
And day labor is always an option
>home depot parking lots
Beaners everywhere

Meant food city

looks like we have an intoxicated fag here
drop fox news for a moment and buy a plane ticket
you won't regret
and if you can't afford, be smart and don't talk, kid.

Currently live in CT and fucking hate it here. Once you've seen a few things you've seen it all. People suck, girls are fucking retarded Tinderellas, expensive as fuck...Only plus side is being driving distance to NYC, Boston or Providence. All even more expensive but fuck tons of chicks and jobs. Debating moving out west or down south if someone can convince me...Almost 30, work in IT, single (and nonfag), music scene is important and cons as well.

So is Phoenix nice? I've been contemplating either Phoenix, Seattle or Albuquerque to move to

You're a piece of shit inferior mono-language coconut. Learn to speak Spanish you disgrace.

I think that Oklahoma would be a cool place to live, and it seems like it's somewhat similar to Arizona. And they have casinos there, with, from what I understand, great poker action. Especially, at a casino called Windstar, I think it is.

I've also heard that some parts of Tulsa are fucking gangster, like, seriously fucking hardcore and dangerous. And with the city of Tulsa seemingly being featured on The First 48 more than any other city in recent months, I'm inclined to believe it. I've also heard that Oklahoma City has some really bad areas. But, not as bad as the rougher parts of Tulsa.

Do you know anything about either of these cities/areas? If so, are there really areas that are as dangerous and violent as Detroit, Flint, Gary, Little Rock, West Memphis, as some people have suggested.

Did you realize that the part of Arizona/Nevada you visited was not exactly a large Metro area representative of what actual cities in Arizona are like? Phoenix Metro is actually like, you know, a big city/metro area. And it even has a few thousand people living there. Actually, around 5,000,000 people, I think.

Are there really that many people from Arizona moving to Texas? What part of Texas are you in? And what's it like there? Also, are you gay?

I appreciate the kind words and encouragement, my homie! I'm trying, but shit's hard, and I really am drained and exhausted from so much stress, worry and frustration over the past few years. It take a toll and it can fuck you up mentally, emotionally, and physically. Which is what has happened to me. No drugs or alcohol, either; just intense stress and worry over the course of 5-6 years. Some of it self-caused, some of it not. I'm humble and grateful, though, so I'm still fighting that good fight and trying to be a good person through it all and do right by my family and the people in my life. Word up, motherfuckers!

Don't know what you're talking about, I live in Norman and make 14.7 an hour working as a cashier at a gas station while I go to college without going into debt. I rarely deal with half the shit you're talking about. Maybe if you didn't live in the city that takes pride in resisting god trying to obliterate it every few years you wouldn't deal with that. I've lived in Norman and Midwest City and have never really dealt with what you have
Except the roads, but shit if that's how you rate a city

Haha, fuck tucson. Too hot, people suck, so many fucking piss covered bums. Cirkle K Icee machines are always broke during summer. Only plus is all the U of A cooze.

Norman is not OKC, far from it, and your pay is an exception, not the rule; minimum wage is $7.25 here in Oklahoma. Don't know why I am responding to a Christfag anyway; already had to drop you down a couple of pegs.

> implying I'm a Christfag
Sure whatever. Just because I said god is trying to destroy Moore? It's a joke.

I understand a bit and tried taking it in highschool to be more a part of my culture but then married a pale white girl and that's where I fucked up chumo.

Plenty of casinos if you are into that. You are on the money as far as describing the crime element, North Tulsa especially is known for its gang and crime rate, there are pockets of bad in OKC, central OKC close to downtown is pretty rough, NE side is all niggers, a lot of the NW side is getting the same way, South side is where the majority of the Spanish speaking people live. The further from the center of the city you get, the better off you will be.

I would avoid Northeast and Southwest OKC. The Northwest side and the suburbs are the place to be with the exception of Del City, Spencer, and parts of Midwest City. Warr Acres/Bethany is affordable and close to everything

>North Tulsa especially is known for its gang and crime rate

Never thought of OK as a gang haven. always thought they went to Houston, Dallas or new Orleans

Shane co. On Scottsdale rd. And tacoma. Just one mile south of bell rd. Open weekdays till 8. Saturday and Sunday till 5. Or visit us online at shaneco. Com

Fuck you piece of shit I moved away from Arizona hoping to never hear that again

Hey I hear ShaneCo jewelry ads in KC too kek

Figured you were being serious, this is Oklahoma we are talking about here. Like I said, the cost of living is low and the suburbs are cool if you want to raise little Suzy and Johnny.

Ohio weather is fucked, but still an amazing place to live. Also anywhere in Georgia is nice as a healthy medium per seasons.

fox23.com/news/report-tulsa-murder-rates-triple-the-national-average/254087505 North Tulsa is pretty bad.

If you just ignore bullhead city, Arizona isn't that bad of a state

I'm not familiar with the geography of Oklahoma, do either of you guys know where the Windstar Casino is? And if so, is it in a reasonably decent/nice/safe area? Or do you know of any casinos with good poker rooms in them that you could mention?

FYI, I wasn't exaggerating about Tulsa being featured on The First 48 more than any other city on the past 10 or so episodes that I've watched. And I had no idea that Tulsa was rough at all, but I had posted in threads on here before and dudes were talking about Tulsa being absolutely fucking thugged-out and horrible. More than once, guys were talking about Mexican drug cartels setting up shop on the reservations and moving huge amounts of drugs. They also stated that human trafficking is out of control there, with young girls being kidnapped and forced in to the sex trade at an alarming rate. It was also suggested that many of the cops in/around Tulsa are crooked as fuck and that they often actually know about the drugs and human trafficking, and allow it/are involved in it, because they are being paid off and are criminals themselves.

As for you folks who live in/have lived in the Phoenix area, what are your thoughts? Do you like it? Hate it? Think it sucks? Think it's great? Overall, what do you think of the city/area? Jobs, weather, cost of living, gun laws, cops, friendliness of people, etc.?

Are you saying that you are in/from Prescott? Or that you think that's where I live? Whatever the case, I'm actually in Payson, but I've been to Prescott Valley a few times and I liked it there. Plus, they have a casino with a poker room (Bucky's) and I've heard that they're supposed to be getting a new facility built. The weather is great, people were friendly, and the scenery was really nice.

If you do live in Prescott or are familiar with it, what are your thoughts of the area?

Recommend south eastern Washington.
Specifically Richland area. Or if you need a big city feel with same qualities you could choose Spokane , but don't recommend as much.

> lots of Indian reservations around, lots of casinos
>hot weather similar to arizona
>lakes and rivers
>stable economy, lots of good paying jobs
>couple hour drive from beach

only down side
>lots of mexicans

I've traveled all around the country and surprisingly san diego is unimpressive, at least the suburbia area. Way overpriced for what you get. It's really kind of a desert. Only really cool thing is the weather which is gorgeous annually. And they're out of the high risk for earthquakes as far as anywhere in cali goes. But i gotta say, a lot of people there seem so damn shitty/snotty. All in all, i think it'd be a great place to live if you had the money to have fun there.

By the way, aren't there any Floridafags on here tonight? Usually, there seem to be lots of people form Florida active on here, so I'm surprised that there haven't been any replies from people form or about Florida. Has anyone here ever lived in the Tampa area? If so, what are your thoughts of the place? Or are there any other parts of Florida that you think are good places to live?

The combination of Midwesterners in the army & Mexicans really ruins it tbqh

Is it being flooded by NE'er? A know a bunch of people from NJ who moved there

bump, not OP but id like opinions on Florida and Georgia

Alright truthfully OP I've been mostly around the lower 48 at this point and I have to say, that answering this question really depends on you. I'd put phoenix in like top 10 of my favorite places, because that heat is just damn unbearable in summer, and i'm pretty outdoorsy, but I suppose it would be tolerable for the other awesome things the city has to offer.

Here's my list:

Vegas
Many Beaches in FL
Montana
New Mexico
West Colorado
East colorado
Utah

All I can say is that many of these are interchangeable, and it just really depends what kind of atmosphere you like.

For a big city and winner for overall fun, vegas gets the gold imo. But i never experience nightlife in PHX or ABQ but i just love the desert vibe.

I also included safety in that list as well, at least from natural disasters. I'd rather get shot by a meth head than fall off a free way when the san andreas fault slips again, or bother with tornadoes either.

Cheers. If you like the outdoors, Idaho and wyoming are gorgeous, so is montana, but damn are those northern states a cold bitch in winter.

Where do you live now? Where have you lived the longest? And what are some of your favorite places? And least-favorite places?

Have you been to any of the fucked-up, hardcore, violent, ghetto cities in America? Like, Detroit, Chicago, Flint, Gary, Camden, Oakland, Stockton, St. Louis, Milwaukee, East St. Louis, Philadelphia, Memphis, New Orleans, Miami, Tulsa, Little Rock, Atlanta, the bad parts of Los Angeles, etc.? If so, what's the worst/scariest place you've been?

Also, if you've spent time in the Phoenix area/anywhere in Arizona, what are your thoughts on it overall?

Washington state is scenic, pretty clean, north west isn't too bad.

But we also have a lot of drug addiction, homelessness, and this is one of the most fem-lib-warrior places in the country. A woman can hit you and if her knuckles are bruised YOU go to jail. It is also exceedingly expensive to live here.

Yeah i know what you mean. I had a buddy that did his basic out there and we flew out to watch him graduate. Truthfully if I were rich and more attractive you could definitely capitalize on the night life there. That would be about the only reason to really try to make it there, imo.

yeah liberal hippie hell hole west of the mountains, conservative normal and great to the east

Now that I think about it, a nice Mormon wife sounds like the life.

>conservative
>family first
>not a raging divorce junkie
>wants to be fruitful and multiply
>probably makes for a good mother to her children
>not a screaming social justice nut
>no clown hair and tats
>dresses pretty without looking like a skag

Shame I'm a black man, this sounds way better than most other options.

Winstar is right at the Ok, Tx border on the Ok side and about the middle of the state. Gainsville, Tx is pretty close. That would be your biggest city in the area. There are a few casinos in the surrounding area of OKC that have poker and blackjack action. Another fun Oklahoma fact, Oklahoma is one of the only if not the only state to have no regulations as far as how much money they can pilfer from you while gambling. Say Nevada only keeps 1% from slots, not so in Oklahoma. They don't even have to tell you how much they keep.

>Lives in Payson
>Works in Scottsdale
>Bad credit

Imagine that.

You know why you're poor? You spend it all on gas, oil changes, maintenance, and opportunity costs due to time lost driving hundreds of miles through gridlock each day. And NOW you're thinking about paying a moving company to drag your shit half way across the country. Dude. Stop. Get your shit straight first. Sell whatever place you have in BFE and move close to work. Pay off your debts, and then never go back into debt. 450 is garbage. Let me guess, you're not paying your school loans, right? You have to pay that shit off man, you can't bankrupt it.

I live in florida. I lived in the midwest the longest lol, just south of chicago. Honestly I've been through a lot of those places or stayed in them fairly shortly, just to kind of get a vibe of the city, and really the only place i've really ever felt completely unsafe was in a back alley in CHI, a dump near MIA, and in Alabama. Oh and Gary is shit too.

Never been to: Philly,NOLA, Tulsa, or D

I'm white so maybe i'm biased, but yeah i'd stay out of south florida without being rich as fuck. Oh and been through LA but honestly didn't run into much ghetto while i was there. What was scarier in cali was the biker gang out in the desert i saw near baker.

Why do you need to be better looking? It isn't LA where every bitch thinks they're a 10 who's gonna be a movie star. It's pretty chill here

Dear everyone,

Fuck off, we're full.

t. Texas

DUDE i'll tell you this much. out of all the states i've been, UTAH has the HOTTEST women of any. They might all have 10 kids but good lord man they are hot as hell! No puns intended.

Ok, how about carson city? It is high desert, Reno and Lake Tahoe both are 30 miles in the opposite direction, living is reasonable and gambling at all three

In SD? Maybe that was just my experience near the college. Girls seemed pretentious.

Never made it there so i can't comment. I just try to avoid any place that has an impending earthquake about to happen. I do want to see SF some time in my life though.

Los Angeles is pretty shitty honestly. Over hyped as hell. Literally EVERYONE is an actor, and everyone thinks they are going to be famous. Thank god for broken dreams

Who in shit would want to live in the shithole south

Really? I live near sdsu & hang out near UCSD on occasion, it's pretty chill, yeah there are bitches but nothing like LA or even Miami

yeah for real people in the south are mostly just trash. The few good ones are absolutely awesome though.
