Child Bite - Negative Noise

Haven't listened meany albums this year, but this year got some dope albums

My favorite album is probably Teens of Denial.

...

been a decent year

Are these in order?

haven't heard gizzard yet, among other things

recommendation #2

Great year.
They aren't really sorted in order.

Damon I haven't even heard of a single one of these. Julia Brown's pretty cool so far. Am I supposed to see something in the cover? I swear I'm not color blind.

Fucking autocorrect

Damon = damn

kind of; it's roughly in order of preference

It was surprisingly good; his sampling gimmicks have been falling short for me lately so I was a bit concerned. Dream Reaper is an amazing track and it's rare to hear a song that dark and serious from Nick these days. Too bad it was already released on Soundcloud about a year ago.

A solid 7, almost an 8 for me. Not quite as good as his album from last year, in my opinion.

Elseq can't be topped

Not as good as 2015 but not bad either.

They're tiny strawberries
1:st is pop, 2:nd is ambient (i guess), 3:rd and 4th is techno, 5:th is afrobeat, 6:th is a zorn project (klezmer-fusion),
Wingbeats is pretty interesting. Somewhat cheesy classical mixed with idm and bird noises. Nurse is just a re-release with a lot of new content, and the last is baroque.

Star Charts or Kindred Shadow?

Kindred Shadow

Well I meant a picture within the picture of all the strawberries. It looks like one of those color blind tests. I see kind of a grey blob but that's it. I haven't checked a higher res pic though. This albums really cool actually. Funny how something so good can completely elude most everyone literally all year long. At least I don't recall seeing this on any charts around here.

Is Star Charts worth a listen?

It's a bit inconsistent, but definitely. It isn't that long anyway, since all of Nick's tracks are pretty short. 'Do Something Rhythmic' is my favorite.

I just wish that Nick would make something a bit more abstract again, like Texturebox. He is really the only one making his style of music, but it is quickly becoming tiresome unless he starts experimenting again.

I haven't considered this. I think they're just strawberries, can't see any pattern or anything.

best albums of 2016, in no particular order:

Danny Brown - Atrocity Exhibition
Autechre - Elseq 1-5
Roy Montgomery - R M H Q
Roly Porter - Third Law
Anxiety – Anxiety

really shitty year, probably the worst ever

you have a very limited taste, that's why you didn't find interesting releases.

haha, nice try.
I listen to a lot of different music genres and I've listened to a lot of records this year, but I still can't name more than a handful of really good or interesting albums.

at least it was better than 2015

Frank ocean's blonde was my fav this year, anyone else's?

noisias outer edges is top tier production

Yes, mine too. It is packed with emotion, and it gets me every time. I might like it more than cO

Tie between A Moon Shaped Pool or Dissociation

AOTY:
Agnes Obel - Citizen of Glass

Runner ups:
Andel Olsen - Muh Womam
Esperanza Spalding - Emily's D+Evolution

Honorable mentions:
Jessy Lanza, Marissa Nadler, Ben Frost, Carla dal Forno, John Beltran, Mitski, Hope Sandoval & The Warm Inventions

EPOTY:
EMOTION Side B

Honestly, I thought it would be a shitty year but it came out pretty great

The Gerogerigegege - Moenai Hai has been my AOTY since the beggining of the year.

As a weezer fan, this wins in my book. Best since pinkerton

well that says more about you than it does about 2016

3. Vektor / Terminal Redux
4. Danny Brown / Atrocity Exhibition
5.仮想夢プラザ [Virtual Dream Plaza] / 夢愛 [A Dream Love]*

Closest I got to a top five:

1. Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Skeleton Tree

2. Frank Ocean - Blond(e)

3. Leonard Cohen - You Want it Darker

4. Factory Floor - 25 25

5. Paul Cauthen - My Gospel

Nice charts,guys

This is in order, Skin is tied with Blonde for #10

Overall, a pretty shit year, 2015 was 20x better

Here's my shit list. No real order, but my number 1 is probably either Boris with Merzbow or Autechre.

No real order here, although I enjoyed the stuff near the top more than the stuff lower down.

Shit taste

Do you notice any particular moments of synchronicity with Boris and Merzbow? It seemed almost entirely arbitrary to me.

BLONDE
L
O
N
D
E

In no particular order:

>BBNG IV
>Blackstar
>A Moon Shaped Pool
>The Life of Pablo

Generic? Maybe, but these albums are good

generic and bad imo

nice list, I should probably give the new kayo dot a proper listen

I'd say this year was better than 2015. My Woman is my first 10/10 in a while so that's a big deal to me

in no particular order

the first song on the Oranssi Pazuzu album blows me away every time

Nice Choices.

Excellent choices.

>I can't believe I took the time to make this.

These are nice lists too.
2016 was actually pretty great.

...

EVERY YEAR IS GREAT

Confirmed and bump

This is my first time posting on Sup Forums in over a year. How did I do?

check your sitting privilege

This is a pretty great list, what's your number one spot? I'm unfamiliar with it

Florist - The Birds Outside Sang

Thanks, will check out

Hey if you liked this record listen to Worry. by Jeff Rosenstock. Came out this year and has a similar vibe, really good

That new PUP was goodass

I've been planning to, I've heard good things about it

So good! I really wish I saw them when they came by on tour, would have been such a sick show. Their shows sell out so quickly now

Still lots of albums unlistened to, its been a good year

>1. Blonde
>2. WORRY.
>3. untitled unmastered.
>4. Weezer (White)
>5. Awaken, My Love

wtf

If you liked Ytamo check out her husband Oorutaichi's music

seconding this

Worry. has great yell-alongs throughout if you're into that sort of shit (which you probably are if you liked white album)

best 2-song opener of the year

have you listened to Teens of Denial? I have similar tastes with you so you might find the album decent

Beyond the Fleeting Gates fucking rocked

Name of album on bottom lefT?

Even without the Merzbow parts, it's still one of my favorites. Those droney Boris rendition of their classic songs are fucking beautiful. I do like the Merzbow stuff in sync with it, as well. It doesn't overshadow Boris' massive sounds and gives it a background to play against.

Have you listened to their first EP's? Even better imo

This album is incredible, I agree
