Did The Cock ever play hard bop?
Fuck off.
Any of you guys listened to/heard of Headhunters?
Rude.
Empyrean Isles and Maiden Voyage are Hard Bop.
Yeah, of course. It's an amazing album.
Are you black?
White.
White, and I haven't listened to more than three jazz artists in my life.
You're not me, silly.
I listen to other jazz every now and then.

Why did you choose those 5 to rank?
Head Hunters is great but Empyrean Isles is completely captivating. I don't think I've given proper attention to the rest of his discog, tho
ITT: post actually talent jazz musicians.
>Implying Herbie isn't talented.
You're funny T.B.H.
His early stuff is amazing if you like the standard kind of jazz. Start with Maiden if you like Empyrean.
Now for an actually innovative and talented pianist in jazz.
>standard kind of jazz
lmao
Ok I'll admit my wording was poor there.
see recommend me a good jazz-funk album by herbie that has both jazz and funk in it.
i dont really like fusion but i like both funk and jazz so why not
Hey, buddy, thanks for the bump.
A lot of his mid 70s work is mainly funk but the most straightforward funk albums, I would say at least, are 'Fat Albert Rotunda' and "Man Child'. Headhunters can fall into jazz slightly with the last track but it's mainly leaning towards funk.
