Have you ever heard of Primus? Or anything other than AC/DC? Bass goes more along with the drums than guitar. I'm a guitarfag personally. But I play bass too

bass is a very interesting instrument i'd like to play it

You really haven't got a clue have you? The bass and the drums are what a song is built on,then add your lead and your vocal if you have a rhythm guitarist all the better add the rhythm with the lead and vocal. I'm a drummer by the way

dude you just pegged the retard meter

...

Gr8 b8 m8 I r8 8/8

Yeah man i know fucking bass sucks why did they even create it. youtu.be/MQtkhWow6G4

This dude gets it.

Somebody in the band has to be in charge of getting the drummer out of the band van when he gets locked in.

youtube.com/watch?v=aEzmr3_Dmv8

And there's the example of what not to do with bass.

bass guitars are for people with no skills to mooch off their talented friends

drums are for that one groupy who wont stop stalking you so you give them a "job" until they OD on meth

youtube.com/watch?v=fj-10lIrboM

There is no guitar on this track, just two basses. You can hear them, right?

youtube.com/watch?v=T_qqTxhXy7k

Muse is actually extremely bass heavy.

youtube.com/watch?v=4VdAIgiff2w
>worthless
Implying

Dude fieldy fuckin kills.

oh hey its tool

...

you have no idea what a good bassist can bring to a band.

no musician would ever say that.

What? What do you mean? Bass players don't just play straight root notes for their entire career? Huh.

to much fucking bait for me

would have sounded better with two guitars

The bass carries the music. It literaly rides on top of it. Try turning your bass all the way down on your radio and you will get an idea.

...

they can bring their mom and sisters

mom will stand as far back as possible because its "too loud"

and the sisters will be in the back while the "bassist" sets up the stage

kek'd

>implying a band is good without both
was a bassist, band kicked me out bcuz of my upbeat attitude and joking around when we were taking breaks from songs (vocalist smokes and couldn't chainsing)
now they ask me to come back, again and again

Porn soundtracks

You obviously listen to shit music.

>Yes
>Rush
>Any/all jazz
>Funk

This must be bait.

You'd think that only if you didn't know they had one of the most unique bass players in music.

>can't here

youtu.be/LBQ2305fLeA

i know this is bait but you nigs should look up jaco pastorius

Speaking of which
youtube.com/watch?v=LsxXGKDnwXE

listen to this
youtube.com/watch?v=EhxycDKlaf4

Try listening to a song that normally has bass, without bass.

All musicians know and accept that bass is a massive part of the sound was a whole.
Without it, the treble of the music would drown out the sound and become untamed. For most people, too much treble in the music can cause high amounts of stress. When you apply the low frequencies of the bass to the music, you are now taking the treble and keeping it at acceptable listening levels.

When it comes to guitar and bass, the bass is also the easiest to pick up, but the hardest to master.

Tl;dr if you listen to music without bass, you are literally sending yourself insane. Don't do it, your ears are begging you.

>I know this is a troll thread

> I dont play an instrument but I judge people on the instruments they play cauae my dad was an alcoholic and said music is for faggots

Some people can. Most won't. Here's why:

The basic function of nervous systems is reactive. They push back. If one hears a note, you will produce a counter-note to neutralize its effect. If you consciously hear a tune, you produce counternotes to each note to blot it out.

But most people can only be aware of one thing at a time. So as you consciouly blot out the tune, the tune the bass plays goes straight in. You can't filter it (unless you are a bass-aware person).

And this is how music works / fucks with your mind.

>good bassist
>stereotypes all as shitty ones

it's ok to be retarded though.

>too much treble in the music can cause high amounts of stress
I had no idea. Will look into it, this has a bearing on my view of harsh noise wall.

Without bass, there is no song. You uninformed retard. Turn the bass on your stereo down. It sounds like shit right? Bass keeps the rhthym while also sounding good as a standalone instroment. Treblefag.

>not getting it this hard
Or is this reverse-double bait?

...

you have bad headphones or speakers.

>pointing out a shitty opinion based on shit that can't play properly
>it's the fault of the instrument

no user, you're just retarded, deaf, or listen to garbage. probably all of the above.

Anyone check out basses loaded? The new melvins?

Bass is fucking retarded. It's like a guitar but with just a few nerf strings so the poo-woo bassie pwaysie boy can get onstage and jack off a lot. Utter faggotry.

Known fact: no song that removes the "bass part" (haha) is any different in any way whatsoever, and in most cases the clarity is improved because of decreased muddiness and reduced douchebaggery.

this entire thread is a testament to why music sucks nowadays

>tfw you get into a friends car and he hasnt turned his bass to 0 so now you cant be friends cuse hes an uncultured faggot

WTF is that shit. music (if you can call it that) for angry teenagers with autism.

I don't understand where you're coming from. We obviously understand my original post differently.

He's not implying, he's telling.

...

I was listening the first sevendust album this past week I was actually thinking how the bass is 50% if not more of the music. Evers since I got back into primus im always paying attention to the bass

all these idiots saying without a bass/drums there is no song and crap like that

there are plenty of solo artists who plays only a guitar and sing, or only a piano and sing
nobody would care about a solo bassist, or solo drummer

keep on sucking in the back while the real artists do their job, but suck quietly to not disturb us much

Nice bait, faggot.

Can you hear the bass in this?
youtube.com/watch?v=Gq8dvDKUV30

Or this?
youtube.com/watch?v=3wNW60eXnaU

If not, you now know that some active conformizer in your brain weeds out important information from your environment, and you'll know why you are a failure.

every solo artist like that is fucking shit though

What this guy said

This is just bass and singing

youtu.be/Ht1M-XGaon0

>there are plenty of solo artists who plays only a guitar and sing, or only a piano and sing

Solo guitarists have thumbs.

Solo pianists have left hands.

There's always a bass.

Except in the music of primitive people.

There's a reason "bass" rhymes with "ass", it's because you have to be a stupid ass to play one.

This.
Shit b8 m8

>You can't even hear it
Buy some decent gear

Treble is just awful on its own.
We have a very keen auditory sense and really rely on it in all sorts of ways.
One of those ways we rely on it is relaxation, as you probably already know.
If you want to be alert and feel on edge, take away bass from the music you are listening to. You won't relax anymore, or your quality of relaxation will be significantly less. If you add that beautiful array of low frequencies that harmonize with the sound of the music, you notice your muscles in your ears face and neck all begin the relax more.

Music is a scientific formula, and bass is just a component of the formula that makes it a complete equation to satisfy the problem.

the reason you can't hear it is because you listen to music through a quarter inch iphone speaker you munt

Listen to Royal Blood. No guitars, Just bass, vocalist and drummer.

You hear it regardless if you realize it or not.

Either you're a troll or deaf. People that actually listen to music would notice.

Bass is for people who can't play guitar

Even in primitive people, someone would usually accompany the high octave voices with a lower octave voice.
It has always been this way since music has ever been around.
This is why people in a choir have always sung in high pitches and low.

It's balance, and you can't have one without the other.

...

jaco goes in all fields fagets

Wrong.
I started playing bass and picked up the guitar later.
My old jazz ensemble wouldn't even touch the bass because of how technical it is.
The guitarist would play simple notes while I'm there playing walking basslines and even throwing some spice into my playing style.
Guitar was good, but never compared to the bass.

You need to grow up and get some real sense about you.

Wot?

You are not answering ops question. Why is it needed if it cant even be heard? Fuck off with MUH SUNG STRUCTURE. You already have drums for that

how can one be so fucking stupid

Bass isn't there just to "be there", you need lower frequencies to give a song more fullness. If a rockband plays without bass its going to sound shit unless one of the other artist plays lower on the other instruments. Its going to sound weak as fuck.
Bass does as well help to keep the rythm of the song with the drums, making it easier for the others to stay tight with the rest of the band.

Do you now understand why soloartists sound like faggots? because its no depth in their songs. Unless they are playing country or some shit

This

Listen to some RHCP dude

Those solo artist have backup musicians when they play live or record certain songs.
Solo musicians even appreciate the bass, they are just faggots who are disliked by a band and think they need to be on their own because they are better than the band.

whos gonna carry shit and fetch beer during gigs?

It can be heard, but its HARDER to hear because its lower frequencies. Without bass their will be no depth in the song, less to keep the rythm, basically less to hear. You will not hear bass on your faggotspeakers because their worth 2 dollars. But if you're in a car, on a concert, or anywhere else than in your room with shitty speakers you will hear it

...

This.
Bass and drums is mostly what you hear and feel at a live show. You leave the venue with the bass still rattling your bones and bouncing through your brain.

But those people wouldn't know because they never leave their basements and go to real shows.

youtu.be/s1Dakft5E40

Listen to this and your question will be answered.

*metallica-orion* yw

Your an idiot who knows nothing about music. You hear bass all the time in almost every genera , just too dumb to know it.

if you are trying to show how ignorant you are, you have done well

>You can't even hear it
a bit like listening for a valid point from OP

>It's worthless.
pretty much the value of OP as a human being

wtf i hate bass guitar now

>You can't even hear it. It's worthless.
get ears...or and understanding of music...you cuck

Classical needs bass too.
Wagner knew that.
youtube.com/watch?v=JNkJoZuGJe8

So did Richard Strauss.
youtube.com/watch?v=xK7z2NhUrsQ

Bait thread, but the frettless bass on hey you is top notch
youtu.be/DEDjF2tLbhk

I know this thread is bait but listen to the intro of this song, YOU CANNOT get this unique bassy sound with a guitar.

youtube.com/watch?v=pph1tnEydQM

Well in a real musical point it does and you can. Without the bass or lower instruments in an ensemble, there would be no backbone. Imagine being spineless. Just wouldn't work.

...

Hail to the King.

Brian Gibson and Lemmy Kilmister would certainly like a word with you.

>Bass players don't just play straight root notes for their entire career?
kek thats litterally almost everything i do
