Is really that bad

Suckerpunch isnt a masterpiece but 24% in rotten tomatoes and 2 stars in netflix I think it deserves more

> Is really that bad?
No, critics merely really hate Snyderkino.

What makes it really bad is that it's a huge contrast to it's trailer and potential
if it had been marketed as being shit from the beginning with no good editing in the trailer than you would be right but I think what makes it fall off of a cliff is that people who heard or read about it originally where hoping for alot better

25% or 1 star seems pretty accurate when that is taken into consideration

I think its not fair to judge a movie for its trailer I felt the same way with prometheus, but it has a higher rate

definitely deserves more. artistically it was a masterpiece.

The fact snyder movies always make for great promotional material is the only reason snyder has a career.

Like most people.

>24%
It would've gotten lower except ass.

It's unwatchable.

I don't separate marketing from the actual film
they work to complement or contrast each other
and if done correctly you get a good product
and at the end of the day that's all this is anymore
a product
there is no more artistic merit in a film than there is in a advertisement for greek yogurt
blah blah blah
the whole point is to get your attention, your money, and your repeat business
isn't it?
In a way piracy allows you to really appreciate art for more than something to hang up on your wall behind your desk
but there's still this huge entertainment/escapist/distraction component to it that makes it just a product for daily comsumption
innit?

Sucker Punch is in genuine contention for the worst film I've ever seen.

>there is no more artistic merit in a film than there is in a advertisement for greek yogurt
maybe watch different films

This movie is where Snyder lost his marbles.
>Okay, guys, so this movie is going to have a girl...
...right...
>...go to a mental hospital...
...continue...
>...then at the mental hospital, she hallucinates being in a brothel...
...okay...
>...and at the brothel, she hallucinates being in steampunk World War I...
...yes?
>...and in steampunk World War I, she hallucinates having a sensei...
...mhm...
>...and then at the end, she's not the main character at all, and the actual main character meets the sensei in real life...
Bravo Snyder.

So something artsy for the sake of art?
Don't get me wrong I like movies alot I'm just saying that trailer's and advertisement are part of the movie more than ever and I don't mean in that (visit our facebook page follow us on twitter talk about us on reddit) way I mean there's just so much content available that the way something is advertised can really affect your perception of the end product

unless I want to watch a girl piss in a soup can or watch a movie filmed in neon tones with a vintage 80's aesthetic paying homage to a 50's aesthetic questioning the existential crisis of being a potato chip in some European Slum or Canadian Ghetto filmed on 8 millimeter

nope
You have to watch the extended cut though.

...

I liked it. Its not a great movie but it has one of my favorite scenes of all time

so much bait in one image

it's an aesthetic movie, which I would admire, it's just that it's fucking terrible aesthetics

bad aesthetics for bad people

If he'd just said "I know this is ridiculous but let's just roll with it" it would have been so much better.

Instead the message of the movie is that "if you like watching attractive women do awesome things in a series of insane settings, YOU ARE A HORRIBLE PERSON."

Unsurprisingly people don't like being hit with a bait and switch like that. Don't market a movie as though it's going to be Emily Browning in a Japanese schoolgirl outfit fighting a giant Samurai-bot, feature that scene, and then scream "IF YOU THOUGHT THAT WAS Awesome YOU'RE LITERALLY A RAPIST!" at the audience.

kino*

MFW I loved it and it feels good

It's literally too deep for 99% of people that watch it, which sounds kinda dumb considering upon first viewing you walk away thinking it was just a shallow piece of shit.

But what if I told you that the main character wasn't Baby Doll but sweet pea. And after the lobotomy scene nothing is real and Baby Doll is the manifestation of Sweet Pea's trauma, she is projecting herself in such a way to dissociate herself from the reality of the lobotomy. And you know how the Wise Man keeps talking about how you're going to escape and go to paradise? That's actually her accepting the lobotomy and realizing that in order to truly be free, she must free her mind and escape the prison that the institution provided and the abuse that the orderlies gave the girls and the trauma of her life when she was growing up. Baby Doll didn't get lobotomized, Sweet Pea did, that's why in the beginning of the film Sweet Pea is narrating that you always have a guardian angel to watch over you, that's her. In the end Oscar Isaac loses because he is not able to abuse her anymore because without the person's mind, you can't dominate her, she is literally free and he realizes this and that drives him to madness. It's kinda a sad film but I really liked it on my second viewing.

Na the entire movie was in the mind of john hamm

Kek

I have a really hard time with this film. On the one hand, it's the exact kind of thing that would appeal to subhuman mouthbreathing neckbeard autists that just want to watch scantily clad women beat up stuff in sexy ways. On the other hand, the actual substance of the movie is seemingly very pro-feminist. And on top of that, the movie is very competent, and the visuals are uniquely impressive.

tl;dr i'm torn on SUCKER PUNCH because i can't tell what Snyder's intentions were

Maybe the best thing for you to do is resolve the matter entirely by killing yourself.

...

>wah stop saying my trigger words

Zack snyder should really direct porn I think he would change the game.

He DID say he wanted his movie to have Batman get raped in it

This is honestly one of the worst films I've seen in my life.

That would've been cool. It would've added depth to batman's character and explained why he's so damaged.

Zack Snyder should be banned from ever making movies again. WB are retards. Why didn't they hire someone who consistently makes good movies.

Zack snyder should really kill himself and stop ruining legitimate movie opportunities with his crappy, incorrect visions.

Sucker Punch was a treatise on the objectification of women as seen through the eyes of various nerd subcultures. The prism by which the movie is shown self reflects to the viewer their own ugliness.

It's a hypnotizing take on psychological trauma. It cleverly turns it into an esoteric, theatrical, fantasy extravaganza. Its own nakedness makes people feel shameful and uncomfortable.

It's a movie that literally hates its own audience and spits on them.

>"“I wanted to rub the human race in its own vomit, and force it to look in the mirror.”" - J.G. Ballard

If that isn't true kino, I don't fucking know what is.

>If that isn't true kino, I don't fucking know what is.
It's not true kino because that chick is 5'1'' and breaks the immersion.

Netflix ratings are purely based on the movies you have seen.

I had a grand old time watching this movie, as did all of my friends, and we were all tripping on LSD.

One of them was even a grill

you're talking shit m8
I think

>Its own nakedness makes people feel shameful and uncomfortable.
I have no interest in seeing this but this same idea is why I love The Wolf of Wall Street.
