I like Herbie: Fully Loaded best personally

Lead character was a QT.

It was his magnum opus, desu.

Headhunters will always be one of my favorite albums. I listened to it on shrooms once and it was as close to actually "feeling" music as I have ever experienced.

I have the rest of his discography but never really waded into it too much because it's a bit overwhelming, so thanks for posting this.

No problem, a lot of his funk albums are amazing so you can't go wrong with that section.

Thrust and Directstep actually contain my favorite Herbie song of all time, Butterfly.v

I've heard Headhunters and really loved it. Where should I go now?

Fat Albert is very funk based so you might wanna go with that one.

But again, Thrust and Directstep have Butterfly which is an amazing song.

Man Child is slightly more guitar focused so if you're ok with that it's a great album too.

(Will post favorite->least if interested)

Yeah I'm very interested! Thank you

Here ya go, friend.

Thanks pal, I'll start going through this chart tonight

Great! Let me know what you think of the albums as you go through them! I'll try to keep the thread alive!

Will do :)

Currently listening to Doin' It from the Secrets album

I fuckin love that song, you gonna listen to the whole album?

Just a heads up the re-working of Canteloupe Island is a little strange.

Does he have more songs like Rockit and Chameleon?

>Rockit
Yeah he has a lot of songs like that during his 80s years. Electronic and dance songs.

Shit, forgot about the second part of your question
>Chameleon

Trust me.
Pretty much anything from his funk years.

Cool. I need to listen to his discography. So far I've got Head Hunters, Sextant, Thrust, Future Shock. Are these the essential ones? What should I add?

Just listened to Thrust. Butterfly was great. Gonna check out some more tomorrow. Cheers.

Glad you liked it! :)

Hmm...'essencial' I'm not good with.

Do you like early jazz or more jazz funk and fusion?

yeah I'm listening to it all right now!

Awesome, man! How are ya liking it so far?

I like Empyrean Isles better than Head Hunters. What does that make me?

Empryean Isles is my favorite desu

also Herbie nigga what is your favorite album where he was a sideman?

Someone with uncommon tastes but still a cool person :)

>Sideman
Nah.
All I know is one or two Miles albums and the Joni Mitchell album.

it's some real funky stuff and I'm loving it; I'll try to emulate it with my playing.

hey herbie nigga your relentless posting of this shit made me listen to a lot of jazz and actually got me into it well done dude

Sextant in particular really made something click for me (even if it has litttle in common with with anything else)

Glad you enjoyed it (honestly surprised, though, I included it on the chart because of other peoples respect for it, it never clicked with me)

Glad you're loving it!

Alright I buckled down and listen to Herbie. Headhunters was great, listening to Maiden Voyage now

Awesome, man, hope you like it. Maiden is great.

Best Herbie sideman album, go!

>sideman album

Just finished Secrets - what a funky album! Have you any other album recommendations?!

The guide at the top should help. If you want something funky or dancable try out Sunlight or Directstep.

So today I bought this at a record store. I had only listened to "Headhunters" and thought it was really good. For some reason the cover art really stroke my eye and decided to buy it. I haven't listened to it yet? What should I expect?

Also, I'm ripping it. If anyone wants the FLAC/V0 version, I'll upload it.

Just warning you man it's not very similar to HH.

It's VERY weird, and on first listen the first track can be kind of offputting.

But for a lot of people, it clicked, so it'll probably do the same for you. It's a very experimental album.

Shit is fucking lit senpai. Are you black?

I would like the FLAC

Not him but.....
I have doubts he's black for some reason...

it kind of reminds me of autechre or some kind of electronic music i've heard it's great though

It's like what people thought Cyberspace would be in T H E F U T U R E.

It's really weird but very interesting, give it a listen

This user here. I'm listening to Sextant right now. Weird, yet interesting.

alright, thanks bud!

Hey herbie nigga, do you like Chick Corea?

I don't know much of his work.

Anyone here see the movie Blow-Up? His soundtrack work for that is superb

I can't find the god damn soundtrack anywhere. Wish I could.

Herbie Hancock? More like Herbie (loves to give) Han(d jobs to gay homos on their)cock(s)

...Did ya spend all day writing that one?
