It has to be more than that surely, loads of people did German at my school, me included.

Post the French one

Same here. Everyone has French or German in higher education, almost nobody can speak it.

Why are Irish people learning French?

Isn't that normal? I learned french in school and while I can still read it somewhat okay I couldn't form a sentence by myself anymore.

>Ireland
>Austria
>Romania
>Finland (17 ;_;7)

I'm so happy!

I was learning german for 6 years in schooll and can't say a fucking word in german (besides halt! hande hoch, nicht schießen)

Typical Germans speaking English

Typical Norwegian speaking English

>Romania
Why?

Norwegians are Ameriboos tbf

my guess is that you need to pick second language except for english and since they are latin french should be easiest, and other latin langauages are not taught at all in europe

Romanian is basically Slavic French with less unnecessary letters, so it's easy to learn if you already speak Romanian.

>learning German
>Mfw noone wants to Skype with me

all countries should be ameriboos

>2017
>skype
Yeah no shit no one wants to skype with you.

Not with that attitude

I love Romania now

If another latin nation makes fun of Romania...!

During the 1800s, when Romania was formed (during the Treaty of Paris, which followed the Crimean War in which the French army participated with the intent of restraining Russia), Wallachia and some other shithole united into Romania (which was a Latin speaking oasis in a desert of Slavs). Romanian nationalist intellectuals instantly started asserting their identity by purging their language of Slavic influences and standardizing it. In that purging process they borrowed extensively from Italian and especially French.

It might explain why the fondness of the French language remains.

I'll skype german with you lonely American.

And still today their vocab is like one quarter Slavic, ksa ksa ksa

Romanian is quite beautiful imo.

Native or fellow learner?

Learner. The only people in my area are all autistic prussiaboos so I've been itching to talk to someone else.
