Matthew McConaughey is making a new movie about how slavery was bad.

What an innovative and ground-breaking, refreshing new premise! Have you ever seen anything like it before? Some studio must be really brave making a feature like this.

Starring the entire black acting community. It'll be The Butler all over again.

Matthew McConaughey is making a movie with humans in it. We get it, humans are things you put in front of the camera, we don't have to see it again. Hack.

I know that he will get an Oscar for this, right? You should think twice before talking shit about that great movie.

kek

>mfw they cast no white actors as slaves

c'mon Hollywood, stop being colorblind

The weird thing is, it wasn't even bad. It was good economically and it kept down the crime rate.

List of bad things that ever happened to anyone in the entire history of the world:

1: The Holocaust
2: Slavery. Slavery of black people in the Confederacy, that is, because that's the only place anyone was ever enslaved.

>he did it for poossay

Well, that's good enough reason for me. Also, a poorfag fighting for richfags trying to keep their black poorfags subservient is really stupid. Blacks and poor whites had more in common in the South than /southshallriseagain/ would care to admit.

>it was good economically

>literally used as a crutch to justify not industrializing
>literally thinking you can grow an economy through N and not K + Y

Pathetic

>What an innovative and ground-breaking, refreshing new premise! Have you ever seen anything like it before? Some studio must be really brave making a feature like this.
Dude are you stupid? There are more movies like that.

Name 10 made in the last 16 years

they still do have more in common

southfags of any color are intolerable

It was. We still need borderline free human labor even in an advanced industrial economy. Now we have to outsource it from lesser nations. We could have kept everything in-house if slavery were still legal. iPhones and Nikes could be made in Virginia and South Carolina instead of Timbuktu. It's not too late, btw. We could still make America great again.

>What is comparative advantage

You fucking idiot, at least enroll in macroeconomics 100 before you spew bullshit

>kept the crime rate down
This is the dumbest fucking thing I've ever read in defense of slavery.

if you want an oscar make a movie about niggers doing either:

> forced labor
> boxing

How come Star Wars didn't win?

I love how Southerns are always saying they respect the Confederacy not because of slavery, but because of states/individual rights and because of the idea of a rebellious streak and being the underdog.

Yet here's a movie that is entirely about those things, and they're getting BTFO by it because it supports black people. There are few things more two-faced than neoconfederates.

Fine.

Slavery is abolished.

Why aren't the Confederates allowed to leave the Union now?

i dont care what ever agenda movie has.
matthew is god tier actor i will watch.

Anti-slavery morons BTFO.

It was good economically for the powerful but small group of people who ran plantations, and essentially formed a mafia protecting their way of life.

In the same way that the illicit drug trade is good for the economy of Mexican drug cartels. Good for the people/state at large? Not so much.

>limited to nonexistent industrial production
>defended on grounds of "muh tradition" or "muh agrarian society"
>large segment of the population without any income
>large segment of the population incapable of holding property
>good economics

You're welcome to. Try Mexico or the Sudan.

>arabs run enormous continent spanning slave trade for 1000 years
>nobody accuses arabs for it

>whites were the ones who abolished slavery
>the white man is the evil one

Who cares about the "people at large"? They should be slaves too.

...

White people should be held to a higher standard than Arabs, especially in a country that dubs itself "The Land of the Free"

Blacks should have been all deported back to Africa after slavery was abolished in the US. That would have fixed America overnight and we don't end up with this mess we are in today.

Lincoln was going to do this.

After he was assassinated, Johnson thought it would be way funnier to just put blacks in charge all over the South as revenge, because he somehow assumed the blacks would never emigrate north

>Implying slavery isn't there worst thing in American history

If it weren't for slavery we'd
>Have a crime rate similar to that of Holland
>Have an educational system top ten in the world
>Much less obesity

Slavery was the worst mistake America ever made

I'd revolt for that creamy mocha trim.

Those are consequences of ending slavery. Slavery itself was pretty neat and we still could use it.

It was only "good" economically until the Inustrial Revolution when machines could perform more than unskilled laborers could, plus without the food, housing and medicine costs, and no need to hire slavedrivers.

Plus, cotton prices were dropping after England opened up new sources in India.

The South was too intent on holding onto "their way of life" for their own good. Arguably, though Reconstruction was arduous and painful, fixed the southern economy faster than it would have done on its own.

Liberia was that and it was even more fucked up than the rest of Africa because the black American colonists thought they were superior to the native population and treated them like slaves.

> A film about an old trooper setting out to found his own nation

Very high on the bucket list.

fuck the slavers who brought basketball americans to the civilized world
