I saw this in an episode of the Simpsons (Much Apu About Something) and had no context for the joke. The show pointed out it was from A Clockwork Orange.

I asked my Dad what it was about, and he said it was beyond description. One of those movies you have to see for yourself.

With that said, I'm really curious as to what I'd be getting myself into if I watched it. So, keeping in mind I have absolutely no context for this movie, what is A Clockwork Orange about?

a bit of the ol' ultra violence

And creepy rapey scenes that would trigger the fuck out of Tumblr

In my opinion the book gives a better context to the movie but reading is reading so good luck digesting that weird shit

It's an artsy far style movie about a teenage british kid and his buddies who have a gang and wear lame outfits and occasionally rob, rape and beat the shit out of people. The kid ends up getting brought to this place to reform him and gets brainwashed and shit.

I won't spoil anything else, it's worth checking out just as a piece of cinema.

Normally, I read the book AFTER watching the movie. You set yourself up for disappointment if you do it the other way around. Should I stick with that method with this movie?

Bits of violence, rape, mind altering of a sociopath. A kind of avant garde piece of cinema.

It's interesting, I can respect it for what it is but not something I care to sit through twice. Is worth to see at least once I'd say. I would think most any user would enjoy it if they never seen it before.

Its about a criminal who is reformed through state sponsored torture.

One of his victims comes back and tries to kill him.

It was pretty edgy for the time but now its just silly.

everything is in natsat which is a mix of Russian and cockney, so be prepared to be confused by the dialogue

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Maybe I'm not getting it but why the fuck are you asking? Your fucking dad told you to watch the movie and instead of just doing that you come to Sup Forums for spoilers?

Your dad deserves better than you for a son. Faggot.

watch the movie you under aged faggot

A film crafted by the legendary Stanley Kubrick (The Shinning)/Full Metal Jacket). Unless you can truly appreciate fine cinema you will not like this movie. Plebeian minds find it boring.

How's that for pretentious?

...

True, I am technically going against his advice. But I wanted to see what you Sup Forumstards had to say about it. Thought I might get some laughs while also preping myself for what's to come.

Listen to me you FUCK FACE! You have no opinion because you are intellectually less than a man! Now back to pony porn with you!!!

Gr8 insult m8. I r8 8/8.

The opening music is bad-the fuck-A

The most shocking thing will be op saying "meh" after watching.

Listen to me you unoriginal CUNT!
No seriously, that shit is played out, please stop

The second half of the film requires an attention span. Something that is sorely lacking in kids these days...

You're funny. Yell some more! :D

Actually, the Simpsons has referenced A Clockwork Orange many times going all the way back to season 2 or 3

I think I can manage. Thanks.

Read the book

That doesn't surprise me. I just don't watch it that often, so I probably missed all the other episodes that mentioned it.

Will do.

Listen to me you condescending NUTRAG!!! I was just trying to help, and you gotta respond with some snarky bullshit!!!
I will find you, and I will KILL you!!!

Its, as far as I'm concerned, about the future and how teenagers become more and more violent to the point of complete narcissism. The main character is at the beginning, a complete sociopath, but once he loses everything and is treated like an animal he gains great empathy. In my mind it's a lesson about humans and who are as growing creatures.

How would you get the reference without knowing the source material?

I didn't mean to offend. There was no malice behind my words. I'm sorry if it sounded that way. :(

In the episode Homer says "I should have never let him watch A Clockwork Orange. I thought it would teach him how to tell time!"

The main theme of the film is that to take the freewill out of a man even if it makes him a better person makes him less of a man, It's in the title, A Clockwork Orange, taking something natural like an Orange and making it into something mechanical.

Kek at homers joke. That's a perfectly cromulent reason to be curious.

That's some deep shit right there. This is my kind of film!

Listen to me YOU- oh, uh jeez... That's the nicest thing anyone ever said to me. Thank you! My god, thank you... (sobs/snot-bubbling)

Where did you get that wikipedia. Fuck off you worthless jack-rag.

Great film though; first third is off the chain, and the rest of the movie makes ya think!

orange is nadsat for a man, a mechanical man is the actual translation (probably, been awhile sInce I watched it)

No problem. Again, sorry for how I worded it. I'm a pretty socially inept person. Sometimes I offend people when I don't mean to. I'm taking classes to try and fix it. :/

This

well you dont have to be a fag about it

Enlightening post.

Yes
Has a point
>Shinning
Based
>Kids in general

There are really smart and careful kids out there, there's just not enough.
Has way to many to count
Have only seen memes of the movie but that sounds about right.
This is Sup Forums, wtf are you apologizing for?
Also makes sense

Meh, I don't mind being a fag about it. Not enough people are in touch with their sensitive sides these days.

reply to this if you've fapped to the rape scenes

Ah, sounds like mild to severe Aspergers which I also suffer from. That's why I select random people from this website and start screaming at them for attention

when I was 14...maybe I can't remember I was just excited to see boobs

He's singin in the royn

Inb4 nobody replies.
...
Wait...

Just watch the fucking movie m8, it's not that easy.

Actually no, read the book. The movie is extremely hard to understand (mainly cause they basically use another language) without the background of the book.

SINGING IN THE RAIN
I'M SINGING IN THE RAIN
WHAT A GLORIOUS FEELING
I'M HAPPY AGAIN

"Shinning" was an intentional Simpsons reference which applies to this thread in more ways than one.....NIGGER COCK!!!!

The moral of the story is "Evil cannot be cured."

Most people are shit.

Clockwork Orange is basically about violence, hopelessness, art, high culture, and being a teenager.
Your dad's fulla shit about it being 'beyond description'.

Not sure if you're being serious or not. But yes, I actually do have Aspergers. I'm fairly high functioning though. My parents did everything they could to help educate me. I'm better off than most.

Thanks professor cunt. I mean my god, what is your IQ? Like 180, 190?

Well... It's more like, he had troubles describing it to ME. All he said was it was artsy and weird.

Maybe he wasn't ready to talk about the subjects the movie raises with his 15yo

Meh, either or. Isn't the movie a Kubrik anyways?

That one post and that one post only I was being serious... and this one...

20, actually. I have a job looking after my mentally retarded brother. I live with him for convenience.

Watch it, OP. It's my favorite Kubrick film.

Viddy well, little brother, Viddy well.

Noted. Thanks.

Whoa, dog! You just came in here and dropped some knowledge B.

How fat are you?

You don't think it has more to do with the calculated efforts of a prison system?

Ok, real talk, that pic is top kek. Like, oh my god, I laughed so hard.

Woman dies from giant plastic dick.

Watch the movie. Read the book. They both don't make the same point.

Cool. Sounds like something I'll enjoy.

Well, without context that sounds made up. I'm fairly certain that means it's guaranteed to be in the movie. I look forward to seeing how that turns out.

No idea, I'd like to think I'm smart because I choose to be but I also understand that parallel circumstances are a probability in the face of an actual god, the process of life and love, and in those circumstances I chose not to be who I am today. In a sense, we are as powerful as we want to be. But I was tested as a kid to be 130 or something.

>I can't watch a movie unless it's spoiled for me ahead of time

Just watch it. This whole generation is fucked.

Try reading the book before you watch the movie, im sure you can get it online for free as a PDF. The REAL reason I said this is the movie ends before the book does, there is a whole chapter removed from the movie for some reason

Was that a come-back? How's this "pic" is it top "kek" fago? I stole from under your fuck-pillow

I don't mind spoilers. I had Bioshock Infinite spoiled for me, but it was still fun seeing how the story played out, even WITH the knowledge of how it ends. Same with Mother 3. I don't see why people get so bent out of shape about spoilers. :/

Will you please come to my house (rape-dungeon)? I need to be taught things...

It wasn't a come-back. I legit thought it was funny. :/

This is the movie in a nutshell

>parallel circumstances are a probability in the face of an actual god

Look at you acting like that means something.
Again, how fat are you and is this your mom?

I'll answer any questions you have right now and maybe I'll make a thread in the future to discuss eventuality and how we learn actual lessons in life. But if there's anything you are wondering about just ask.

It's because you're basically forming an opinion before watching the movie.

Isn't that like playing a game that EVERYONE says is the best because you want to see what the fuss is about? I'm not seeing a problem here.

Milk bars

My what a sense of humor have you!! Maybe you can tell me if this is funny then...

Read the book

Bioshock Infinite came spoiled...

That face and body is so incongruous

> I'm really curious as to what I'd be getting myself into if I watched it

Stupid repetitive conversations with people who cling to the identity of an angsty outsider from the 90's. You'll end up hearing about Donnie Darko, SLC Punk, Trainspotting, and every other VHS tape they watched once at their cousin's house that made them as deep as a puddle of flea piss.

context? Why aren't they using anesthesia?

Mars bar?

>I'm not seeing a problem here.

That's the problem. Refer to my original comment:

>This whole generation is fucked.

You can't even form your opinion and you don't even know it.

youtube.com/watch?v=LgvYfMsKJhE
based kubrick

poor cat, it probably survived, cats are resilient fuckers

Do you think saying things like "eventuality" make you sound smart? And since you're clearly a kid, here's a life lesson: trying desperately to sound like the smartest person in the room will win you no friends, but you already know that, don't you?

It's just a rip off of The Purge

I love Kubrick but that's by far the best scene in that one...

You uncultured piece of shit must be underage

Which badly aped The Purge II

I do because it's a reality I have faced. Sometimes people become jealous and consumed with inadequacy, i wish you didn't feel that way, but it's your decision just like it's mine to write my ideas on a dying thread. And yes, I'm 20, pretty much a kid. I have started another thread, I'm sure you'll find it.
