It's still underrated. Everyone talks about Highway 61 and Bringing It All Back Home, because they had all those big hits. Blonde On Blonde had no major hits

As usual with Bowie, Blackstar (RCA, 2016), produced again by Tony Visconti,, is mostly image and very little about the music. The ten-minute Blackstar, that was supposed to be the centerpiece, is little more than a funereal litany a` la Doors with jazz horns that goes on five minutes too many. Bowie crooning melodramatic in Lazarus (from his Broadway musical about an alien who falls in love) or romantic in Dollar Days is either delirious and pathetic, certainly not entertaining. His tedious voice interferes with the driving jazz jam of 'Tis a Pity She Was a Whore and with the frenzied and tense Sue (a 2014 single). Even when the voice is not a distraction, the rest is hardly intriguing: I Can't Give Everything Away boasts an awful distorted guitar against syncopated beats and layers of electronic drones: not exactly genius. This is trivial "music" that any amateur could make, except that most amateurs would be ashamed to release it.
deserving of endless praise
yep
nope
You forgot the best part.
>Bowie died of cancer in january 2016.
Well the executioner is knitting
And snow white is smoking hash
And an old blue cat is shitting
By the creek where philosophers splashed
And the prophets are all dying
And Aphrodite ain't around
And Michaelangelo is crying
While I'm laying the madonna down
And the joker's got loose from the deck
And your baby, she's at home
And the magistrates all wanna' know
How's life in the thunderdome?
g-genius ;_;

How does the most groundbreaking rock album not deserve praise.

Yes, it's one of the few times Bob Dylan wrote actually good lyrics and actually good music
That gargoyle EP was like this album, but well done
No way a Beatles album isn't overrated, even if it's a truly good Beatles album like this one
It's even better than its hype
I know it sounds stupid and cliché but you will rarely get it/love it at a first or second or even third listen, you have to be kind of familiar with it and be in the right mood (which is depressed and anxious as fuck)
Yeah, but mostly for God Only Knows
Yeah but its importance is mostly historical, it will sound very dated today, still great tho
No, it's good but not even GYBE's best album
Oh God yes
I'll say yes but I'm a fan of Bowie and it hit me pretty fucking hard last year. At least it's one of his best, if not the best, of his late releases
Nope, never understood all the Hendrix worship, it's just distorted blues (and I find blues kinda boring)
...
Have you ever tried having your own opinion?
It's some of their best stuff but on a song to song basis? No.
Larks Tongue in Aspic is more consistent but doesn't hit as high, although it comes close.
Certainly.
yeah
