From the perspective of someone who just got out, it's pretty shit. Like many others, I loved the organization it brought my life, but the lack of freedom (lol) and army bullshit got on my nerves. Your MOS will make a pretty big difference though. It won't be that bad if you got something cushy like intel. Signing for six years was stupid though. You shot yourself in the foot for the re-enlistment bonus.
Basic training won't be that bad. The running will suck, but by the time you reach white phase you'll be used to it. What base are you going to basic at?

The enlistment bonus must have been good then. IIRC the max bonus cannot exceed 30,000 for a six year contract.
Its what you make it. Im in the navy, expeditionary unit and i love it. We shoot and go on speacial missions. Theres alot of powerpoints about sexual harrassment, equal opportunity, personal finance. Alot of paperwork but in the end do something thats gonna be fun, youll be aviation so get ready for SERE school its basically a school that teaches how to survive in the wild, behind enemy lines and you will be captured and tortured to an extent.
Just don't be a pussy and you'll be fine. Do your time, get as many college credits done while you are in as you can, don't fuck the barracks rats, and get out and finish school on your GI Bill. The time will go fast as long as you're not a fuck up and you'll miss it when you leave.
