Sometimes, I do experimental, non-sense rapping, like on "Black and Red," "The Chosen One" or "The Machine."
Other times, I act like a goddamned retard and rap about stupid shit, like every other song I have.
This falls into the second category.

Been doing a soundtrack/concept album (pic related) type thing over the last few weeks. First time in a while I've planned out an entire sound project and am actually to work to complete it.
Good for your first attempt (I remember how bad mine were; this is well-done by any measure). I leave some general tips for the future, mostly dealing with getting comfortable with panning instruments to the left n' right (something you don't necessarily know when you start). Don't take it the wrong way: I had to learn the same thing when I first started making music years ago!
imo the beginning was a little all over the place, but I liked the track more once it started to find its groove later on. It's a nice listen.
this is a lot of fun; excellent mixing of samples and detuned synths.
I'll admit that this track didn't do much for me. I think what stuck out might have been a little bit of a muddled feeling that some of the instruments and chords were falling on top of one another. Maybe a little bit of volume/panning mixing would separate the elements into a clearer picture.
Not to be totally negative though, because I listened to some of the other tracks in this series and I enjoyed them (Inner Monologue and First Encounter being the ones I enjoyed the most). I'll have to give all the tracks a once over another time. Like the cover art tho =3

terminal night is nice, and fits the visuals very well
I like the way you use space, and silence through sidechaining, and pauses. the soundstage is a little odd, maybe a master reverb would help hold everything togetyher, but then I'm using headphones, probably need speakers to be sure.

you must believe in spring is really cool, I mlike the way the piano and the bass sit spatially with the bass almost mono and the piano super wide. is it a medeski martin and wood sample?
dont like the compression on gotcha streets. I get the feeling it's intentionally jarring, but the bass sounds so smooth it doesn't work for me. Is that BooBass in Ragtag Track from FL studio? I think the groove could work with a real bassist, or if you get a more realistic vst. otherwise you could keep the cheesy sound but put some weird phasers and stuff on it like Syro by Aphex twin
I don't really like this style of music generally but I have to commend your production. the chords especially sound amazing. The drums sound a bit flat, and are panned a bit strangely.
I can imagine this being the intro to a Quentin Tarantino movie set in 70s London.
You have a really interesting approach to sound design. The way the bass wraps around my head when im listening and the drums and chords sound like they are off in the distance in front of me works well with the downtempo slightly creepy vibe. in the first 2 beats. Really like all the loops i listened 2. Would like to hear more variation, subtle changes here and there but overall really cool
this is me
soundcloud.com
Children of the sun is really interesting. reminds me of soft focus by vanilla but way more eratic. I can't figure out how you make the transitions so smooth while being so different. also reminds me of pogo now that i think of it would love to play a psychedelic video game with this as the backing music, some kind of rhythmic platformer.
sounds like SAWII put through some crazy blender, It's really cool really cool atmospherics on the track One MOre Time as well, would fit a david lynch movie set in the future.
Great voice, I like the jazzy inflections. the spoken word part is interesting, bit of a jaring tonal shift though
I love everything in this and the way it all fits is perfect, but i want more. If it was a film score the visuals would fill the hole, otherwise vocals, a strong lead, or just more variation in the backing parts. at 1:38 the sound of that ride is amazing
this is still me

also is me soundcloud.com

It's rare for me to find music funny without obvious references or lyrics but this one hits the spot. I don't even know why. It's like corny gameboy music but also really cool. I like the effect you put on the bass at around 1:30
I like the sonic cues you use to differentiate the different sections, the sterioshaping and panning, and the way the you've used space.
overall this is a really interesting track. It's kind of cold and warm at the same time. The 5/4 beats sound almost Dave Brubeck in their smoothness, in parts, and almost dream theater corny in other parts. the only song from this thread I've listened to twice. still trying to figure it out
cool sounds on backstage, but as a song it doesn't move myself this much
>deep techno, synths and pedals
soundcloud.com
too much low end, it eats up all the other sound
suggesting some EQing /buck-flanger
Dont mind about it really hits the spot for me
was hoping it would turn into some squarepusher style dnb, but the hiphop groove works. would just like a bit more variation
soundcloud.com
>cloud rap, hip hop, instrumentals
>soundcloud.com
Any Idea why it didn't move you? are there things you would change? or is it just not a vibe you enjoy?
listening to higgs, It sounds a little over compressed, or maybe saturated. My ears are a bit fatigued so it's hard to tell. The treble parts sit really nicely, I like the syncopated leads, but the arpegios are a bit to straight for me.

Thanks for the kind words :) I've found the key to maintaining flow whilst wanting to switch things up is leaving one aspect of your song consistent, (in children of the sun it was predominantly the drums), while at the same time understanding what 'vibe' youre going for in the song and really knowing with confidence what direction you want that vibe to go in in the next bit. Also mixing the mids of one bit similarly to the next is a good way to have a consistent core to the song.
Thanks for the suggestions! Means a lot for me guys!
