The problem with this (I think) is not in the mix/master process but rather in the instrument design process -- lots of these drum samples sound very packaged, like they're right out of a sample pack without much care placed on
shaping the sound to sit well in the mix. If your goal is to make a hard-hitting, punchy song, make sure that a lot of emphasis is placed in the high end of the drum samples, maybe employing some multiband compression to beef up the transients. Same goes with your synths. Also, sidechain compression (using the kick) works wonders, but don't go overboard (which a lot of people do when they first discover sidechaining). Unless you're going for a pulse-heavy sidechain effect, it should only be used to get the other instruments out of the way just long enough for the kick to pack some punch. Sorry if I'm a little bit disorganized with my feedback.

I mean if we're just talking about songwriting/composing then yeah I dig it. But the production is getting in the way of me enjoying the song. I don't mean to sound rude -- I just think that this song deserves better production. And yes, it's absolutely a huge deal! Learning how to shape your sounds to fit your needs as a producer will not only save you tons of time that you would use searching for the right samples, but it also gives you a huge boost in the originality department. A sound that you made from scratch is far less likely to sound like a sound that hundreds of other producers have already used. It may sound like a lot of unnecessary learning (because I know musicians usually just want to get down to making music!) but it will increase your creative control over your sounds tenfold, believe me.

wow, this was very interesting. The arpeggio throughout the whole song was pretty cool. The bridge in the middle of the track is a nice break, but you should work on making the first half of the track less repetitive.

Nah, I get it. Inspiration, influence, and all that. However, none of the samples in this remind me of musicians/producers I like, they just remind me of people I encounter online or elsewhere who are learning how to produce. And I don't mean that in a bad way, either, because he's a lot farther along than most people I hear in these threads. But he had a concern after sending it to mixing/mastering, and I definitely see why he had that concern -- it's not packing the punch he envisioned, and it's not as crisp and clear as he wanted its to be. Those things will come with time and practice, but he's not there yet. (but keep going!)

A bit repetitive this one, try varying it up! I like the melodic idea though. Listened to So Many Things of Yours which I liked a whole lot more (what is that sample at 0:27 in that song it's driving me nuts)
That gating makes the melody pretty interesting. But really no change throughout the beat, you'd have to have a very steady song without a chorus to use it.
Very nice beats. The Madlib influence is obv. Not sure if I buy the very minimal rapping and the mixing on it could be louder for when you actually are rapping but it is really interesting at least.
