I went to a kaiten sushiya in Tokyo and found it normal.
Didn't have money for the fancy sushiyas that cost an arm and a leg tho.

Usually no! Most middle schoolers don't really have that advanced a level so we don't make it a strict requirement. However, we encourage them to study and try to use it while they're here, especially when they're staying with host families.
