What are some great live acts in metal? Most bands I've seen have done the whole "just another day at the job"-routine which gets boring really fast.
Anthrax is a band that always puts on a great show. Tons of energy and fun. Twisted Sister is another notoriously great live band. I've seen Tribulation a couple of times and they used lights/smoke very well.

When I first heard it I felt a little disappointed, primarily due to how colossal Drought and Paracletus were. The sound was much rawer too. However, I recently picked it back up again and it's really growing on me. In fact I fucking love it. It is more complex, deep and generally brilliant than I realised first time around.
In short, don't give up so soon. This is DSO!

Somebody just linked me this and told me i'd love the second track, and they're right, it fucking rules:
Can somebody tell me of of any good BM in this style that i'm missing? Basically like austere/woods of desolation worship. Really melodic and borderline uplifting in its melodies, but tied in with standard BM instrumentation and structure and vocals etc.
Stuff i know already i guess would be: -deafheaven
-panopticon on some albums. particularly kentucky onwards
-alcest kind of but their harsh sections tend to be kinda minor key and more "traditionally" bm styled, just a wanky gay verison
-falls of rauros kinda suit this too (and totally rule, no bm album matches their second album for me)
-germ sometimes, makes sense cos same guy(s?) as WoD and austere
Like i know a lot of metal that skirts around the edges of this kinda thing, but i'm looking for stuff that is very specifically like the bands mentioned.
