what is the heaviest album of all time? doesn't have to be metal. just the one with the hardest grooves, the noisiest noise, and the most eviscerating atmosphere.
pic not necessarily related

I'd post it but I don't want you plebs stealing my taste.
damn dude don't post that shit here, i'm scared
i don't listen to much metal but this shit's pretty heavy, right?
see, this is just the noise aspect. heaviness is a combination of noise, rhythm, groove, and melody. you can't just have one
I listened to that last week.
I feel like a bad person.
i think its this
youtube.com
this is that shit i'm talking about
>noise, rhythm, groove, and melody.
>heaviness is literally music
Consider the following:

yeah but the more extreme ends of those things. it's not really definable, more of a feeling than anything.
Idk about all time but this is pretty fucking heavy
I do love me some Coltrane, but this isn't really what I'm after here
yeah swans are sort of the obvious choice. pretty much any of their albums except the weird post goth ones would qualify.
>machine gun
not the heaviest of all time, but definitely one of the heaviest I have ever listened to
I just wish I had found out about it earlier
Wow that was fucking horrible
wait, i'm sorry, is it 1993 and am i on pcp?
wtf is this tryhard shit lmao
>mfw some people unironically listen to this garbage
They obviously don't actually buy their music with the amount of monster energy drinks they must consume.
wow i haven't listened to them in years. this is way better than their earlier output.
heads up, if you didn't pick fighter by alon mor, you're objectively wrong
Oh, yes! Bow down to master Brötzmann!
Is this what you're looking for? The music sounds like a raging wrecking ball. youtu.be
The guitar tone on this record is nasty as fuck
It's like what djent wishes it was

Les Rallizes Dénudés - Double Heads (or anything really)
this would go good with some shitty light beer
holy shit how have I never heard of this? this is like everything I enjoy wrapped into a quaint package
>those obvious as fuck drum tirggers
Beats me, Sup Forums has been pretty consistently riding Les Rallizes Dénudés dick for the past 7ish years i've been here. This is one of my faovurite versions of The Last One
...
I actually laughed out loud at those durms holy shit my side
It just keeps going to whole fucking song long aswell lmao
been here since 2011, never seen a thread. how could they have slipped through my fingers like this? the next few days are going to have some obsessive rutracking
a classic, though not particularly heavy. sort of like suicide-lite
Bowling for Soup!
Just look at their guitarrist
The fun part of Rallizes is that they played the same 8-10 songs throughout their entire career, yet somehow still kept it interesting.
Abandon All Life by Nails
Wide Open Wound and Suum Cuique are insane
youtube.com
if you want to see the european dominate again, there is nothing heavier
wow way to make things awkward
"Infant Annihalator"... worst band name ever. They annihilate children? Very cool.
thanks for making me laugh, was having a rough day
this has to be a contender
definitely in the top 10
Im not a big fan of deathcore, but this album gets a pass
Shit forgot an image
Yeah, I just discovered them from a friend. Really enjoying it. IS their old stuff shitty?
cmon and SLAM and welcome to the GLAM
not shitty, but much more typical
After going through a bunch of the links itt, I think "heavy" differs drastically from person to person. It's cool to see so many subgenres of metal though.
Personally, the heaviest shit I've come across so far is pic related, which is more along the lines of deathgrind. I don't doubt that my interpretation of "heavy" will change in the future.

this one i think
...
oh fugg. vermin womb is so nice.
obviously Portal and Accept Death and Khanate/Burning Witch are missing cause fuck me right
thats because they're not heavy. does accept death even have a bassist? lmao.
Saw these guys live, THAT was heavy.
poooosy
This is superior.
...
Most of Whitehouse's music is pretty forgettable, but that album is evil in an extremely visceral way.
>heaviest
>no mention of MANOWAR
leave the hall
Stallagh / gullagh is a project by a cpl black metal musicians of mentally ill people screaming in churches.
The gained permission by saying they were conducting "scream therapy"
unbelievable ignorance
I still haven't heard anything heavier.
youtube.com
that drop F riff
fucking phenomenal album
what is this? Google image search just says 'modern art', lol
name?
First thing that pops to my mind is Unsilent Death by Nails.
what is this
ah thank you
Been listening to the 2017 remaster recently and it's a real heavy-hitter compared to how I remember it from hearing the original mastering. Really a solid combination of the gut-wrenching vocals, layered/noisy backing tracks with especially punchy percussion, and the dynamics where most tracks will either build up or abruptly shift from quiet to loud.
>tfw I love shoegaze and drone metal
>tfw I should theoretically love this album by extension
>tfw I dig the first track but the rest of the album doesn't grab me
I want to like you Jesu.
Try with other stuff by them, but I doubt you're goint to like if you didn't like the debut, their best by far. Or just wait, listen to some songs on their own from time to time, and then listen to the whole album.
This youtu.be
Even electric wizard is heavier than them. Fuck off.
Is there anything heavy that uses dynamics? i mean that brickwalled stuff is nice and all but is there anything that kind of uses both? i mean even smothing like "big black - kerosene" is achieving a force of heaviness by bumping up the volume on the last part, but this not extreme although already effective. can anybody follow?
anybody know that band on bandcamp that uses huge as fuck speakers and power tools in their music? I forgot their page ;-;
>except the weird post goth ones would qualify.
spotted the pleb
Ahahahahaha those fucking lyrics oh my goodness
this song is about fucking a baby to death
what is wrong with people
I don't know why, but I imagined Paul Banks saying that and then The New starts playing. You know, like in Stella Was a Diver and She was Always Down.
interested in this
I have to agree this is garbage apart from the vocalist
Probably some of the best death metal vocals I've ever heard to be honest, he sounds genuinely disgusting
This would actually be decent if the drums didn't sound like total shit and drown the whole mix
At least it's better than Rings of Saturn
>youtube.com
donald duck vocals
I'm sorry, why was your day so rough?
nah man

Early Godflesh is pretty damn heavy.
youtube.com
This is essentially proto-Godflesh (G.c. Green and Justin Broadrick were both in this band) but a lot faster.
