PIRATAS
this is the only reason uk wants las islas malvinas, to stay close to the antartic to steal territories and explote resources.
First come first served.
>first nations to explore the Antartica
>Leaf goes just hurr let's give it to countries that did absolute nothing just because they're close to it
>france
we discovered it it's ours fuck off
>PIRATAS
>Argentina claims something that's British
Really makes me think.
>first one to explore automatically gets the land
Does that mean I get to be your father now?
they're obsessed
When do we stop any Argentinian boats from coming near it? Fucking scum.
Sharing a border with Norway is fine.
France annex incoming.
No, but it should mean that Eastern Canada is Portuguese.
why, did you molest them?
>Canadians in charge of Geography
We literally border the Antarctic
Yeah, sure. And while we're at it I'll give Western Australia back to the dumbass Dutch sailors who kept crashing into it.
The UK does legitimate scientific research. We literally discovered the hole in the o-zone.
I claim the south pole in the name of australia, literally the only first world country below the equator.
neat, now close it
kek
Actually, Western Australia's discovery is theorised to have been found by us when we went to Timor.
There's a drawing of a kangaroo that predates the Dutch arrival, but we only saw desert and went back, presumably.
Can you imagine? Canada Australia and Brazil. The sheer amount of shitposting.
Soon.
>danish education everybody
b-but argentina is "white"
no such thing
>The Vanuatu group of islands first had contact with Europeans in 1606, when the Portuguese explorer Pedro Fernandes de Queirós, sailing for the Spanish Crown, arrived on the largest island and called the group of islands La Austrialia del Espiritu Santo or "The Southern Land of the Holy Spirit", believing he had arrived in Terra Australis or Australia.
dumbtugal
What about New Zealand? Are you saying they're just Aussies in denial?
en.wikipedia.org
It would've been before 1593.
It's just an hypothesis, but I never presented it as more than that.
No I just forgot they existed.
white-ness doesn't make it a good country.
proof: look at eastern europe, and greece, spain, and portugal, and england
too small, it's like if a small town got it's own islands
>germany
According to this map i can shotpost in /ausnz/
>wanting a frozen territory
Why tho? We only have a little base(currently building a bigger), a dock for our ships to stay and a airfield. You don't need anything bigger than that.
>You don't need anything bigger than that.
For indoor climbing obviously. Duh.
>have small mountains outside where you can climb
>Nah, i rather climb inside the base.
> Using a old map
Our claim has extended south to the pole for some years now.
>>have small mountains outside where you can climb
The research station is on an ice sheet, there's nothing for miles around it.
>Canadian education
Superior map here.
UNCLAIMED LAND
O HOY SET A SAIL, THE DANISH VIKINGS ARE COMING
Oh. The one they're building it's literally between the mountains.
Even so it wouldn't be very practical to just go rock climbing out there whenever you feel like it, many of these people are scientists and wouldn't want to risk it.
Tru dat. Still, it's not impossible for some crazy fuck doing it.
Reminder an argentine was the first person born there.
LAS ANTARCTIC SON ARGENTINAS!
Why is the norwegian claim so wonky? Why didn't anyone claim the unclaimed land before the treaty?
the antarctic wil be latin american :)
>be Australia
>get FRANK'D
>BIG FRENCH CLAIMS
>tiny australian strip
Soon, we will take their Antarctica...THEN WE WILL TAKE WESTERN AUSTRALIA...!
Even then. "Let's go recklessly risk our lives kilometers away from the base and far from any real medical infrastructure, all of that in sub-zero temperatures, just for shit and giggles" seems like a worse plan than just "Let's build an indoor rock-climbing structure.
>tfw too strong to have to claim Antarctic land.
What's so shitty about Marie Byrd Land that no one claimed it?
The claim was essentially projecting your country's shape down towards the geographic pole. That's why Chile's, UK's and Argentina's claims overlap, all our territories overlap at some point on the latitude axis. The UK-Argentina claim in particular is special, since the UK claims it's right because of the Falkands, and a couple more islands eastwards plus the 200 nautical miles of sovereign sea... and we claim said islands to be ours, at least back when the treaty was signed.
All claims were frozen about 50 years ago. No one claimed it by then, and no one can claim it now
I'm quite sure all claims to Antarctic clay have always been frozen
Disgusting colonialist attitudes itt. Just think about the natives!
