Let's Settle this once and for all

Let's Settle this once and for all
which is the best and why?

Auto. Because I'm 75 and disabled.

well maybe you shouldn't be driving then.

Who really cares OP, its personal preference

what is there to settle? If you enjoy driving manuals drive one, if you don't then drive auto.

manual. auto is for crippled people and muricafags

this

Drove standard for 3 years as a commuter in California and fuck that after a while, an hour of riding that clutch. Auto if its a commuting car

you should be able to operate both

Manual

>be me
>live in good old murica
>nigger try to steal my car
>shitnoauto.jpg
>nigger run away
>me firing two rounds
>nigger on the ground
>awwww yeah
>still have my car

0/10.

OP, depends on the car. Used to be that manual meant extra gears and much more control over where your revs were at any given moment, but not so much anymore. Autos usually feature more gears now and many manufaturers use excellent shift logic to keep the engine where you want it, especially when combined with selectable drive modes on certain cars. Factor in advancements like dual-clutch automatics and autos make a good case against manuals. So anymore autos will tend to be faster and not suffer from the drawbacks they used to like long shift times, lack of overlap in the rev range and less gears.

But dont get an automatic off road vehicle. That just sucks.

Automatic
>too busy for that clutch life fam

/thread

eurofag here and i agree.
my Audi A1 would have less gears, more consumption, and be slower from 1-100 if it didnt have the seven-speed S Tronic gearbox (which is auto)

The best is the one that you like the most. Period.

Poorfags wont know what this is

this. i feel like automatic is really boring.
if you mainly drive in cities or with a lot of traffic its better though.

6 speed because I like wrapping my hand around a thick hard shaft as much as possible.

sure they will. poorfags play video games too.

Oblivious its a mini dildo for faggots

this

My normal drive is auto. I also race and that's gotta be manual.
Used to race auto... I went through a lot of brake pads.

If you can't operate a manual transmission, you shouldn't drive

Trips of lies. Even dodge guys hate shift by wire.

This shit is made by men to humiliate us womyn.

Its shaped like a dick.

Thats why i walk to work.

Flippy Paddle.

clutches wont last 10 minutes where i go

learn to drive properly then you tard

>tuning
>poorfags

man please

what's that?

fuck dont you cunts ever go off road?

If you're spending >250,000 on a car the automatic transmission is better. Anything under that then the manual gearbox is the way to go in terms of control, fuel economy and maintenance costs. Any other answer is just raw feelings. f

Ha, thats my truck

They're both good

I got one of those.
My second 'stick' is just a dial though... not as flashy and its in an idiotically hard to reach place.

i actually prefer manual because for all the fun you can have on the road.

learn that there is more to life than driving in straight lines sippin latte's

sounds like my old kia

Cant catch em all while fucking with a clutch.

Mine's a nissan. Comfy as fuck but so poorly designed... all the dials and buttons are juuuuust out of reach of the driver.

No you're not. Fuck off.

literally anyone with half a brain could drive a manual

DSG.

...

Are you sure about that? My Mrs can't drive a manual and she's a doctor! Go figure, she is so uncoordinated

Manual is customization
automatic makes you like men

...

...

...

...

Get on my fucking level

...

As a eurofag with everyone telling me to learn to drive stick because it's sooooo good to know my question is just: why? If I ever get a car I am only ever going to use it for commuting and driving to IKEA. Why would I ever need to drive stick?

For me it's about the type of driving. Open, windy road and I prefer manual but fuck that when I'm stuck in traffic doing stop, start.

e34?

...

Auto: lux-barges. Large premium saloons etc.

Manual: Performance cars.

automatic, so you don't have to drive manually

right hand drive instead of left hand drive
kys you uber fag

I drive with a clutch offroad just fine. It's not hard if yer rig is actually geared properly and yer not a faggot.

Automatic. Stick-shift is old technology, and soon it won't matter since we won't be fucking driving.

Enough contention for another thread, maybe. Personally I think the DSG is great to drive. But the interwebs is full of people complaining about mech reliability.

you really have to be a huge homo to have that in your car.

Auto. Fuck a manual, there's literally no benefit. Only people who drive them are people who like to suck their own dick about "muh I drive manual"

Of course it's not as reliable as a manual. Dual clutch and one gear up or down is always spinning alongside your current gear. More wear and tear.

If you're not a poor fag and don't buy a DSG at 5+ years old, it's not gonna be your problem though.

>wasting money on a license
I'll put that money towards a self-driving car instead.

>walk
>work
Bitch please

do you know something the ret of us do not anonsonkaimeta?

>has faster shifting times
>can start vehicle without starter
>faster track times
>can stop without brakes
>can control fuel consumption much better

Auto

>complimentary dildo

This is one of the only circumstances that isn't a bullshit excuse. Unless youre a literal race car driver or you hate your commute, not driving stick is just another example of the retardedness of your generation.

Only 10% of millennials even know how to drive a stick so get the fuck out of here with your its my personal preference bullshit.

You catch Pokemon with your feet?

Disagree. Offroad is one of the few situation where an auto gives better control.

Auto in daily. Manual in fun car. Auto in drag car. Manual in road race car. Just settled the argument in one post.

if you drive in a city manual is much better, for your car and for your driving.

noob.

Retard.

High and Low range
+ lockable transfer case

enjoy spinning your one wheel

terrible.
would not rest hand on/10

Manual, less hassel I guess
Im not a good auto driver but im learning. the theft point comes up a lot. Both has its benefits, no need to beat ur dicks over stupid stuff like this.

manual cars can
A) be roll started if you flatten your battery like a nub
B) more easily fixed by mechanics, lowering your overheads on car repair and maintenance
C) allow you to engine brake more easily, without risking your auto transmission
D) allows the driver more control over speed adjustments, you can simply drop a gear to slow down 10 or so km/h instead of increasing the wear on your brake pads
E) you can drop it into neutral and roll around the place like a true skater fag.
F) you cant do a sick skid in an auto

all around though, driving manual gives you a bigger penis.

If you are driving for fun, manual. If you commute in traffic, auto.

don't forget with manual you can run premium gasoline or diesel, and when you add racing stripes it actually add horsepower.

>the more you know

>Towing a heavy load with an automatic transmission
>Driving out of a corner in a gear thats too high
>Wet driving conditions, taking a corner, transmission decides to drop back a gear and fuck your traction
Manual all the way. There is no excuse, at all, unless you have crippling arthritis or were taught to drive by your single mother. Disgraceful.

Manual because I know how to drive.

Automatic transmissions don't preclude the use of locking differentials or high/low range. Have you ever even driven a vehicle?

I was taught to drive by my single mother. She taught me on a stick. My single mother kicks ass.

Honestly i don't give a shit i drove both , manual's fine and a good auto is fine too. I'm driving a manual at the moment and my wife is driving an auto that is also fine to drive. Future is auto anyway with electric cars being well on their ways and self driving cars too.

/thread
for poorfags too

-Can't choose your RPM for a given moment
-Can't heel toe
-Can't launch
-In most autos, cant shift from reverse to 1st in less than an epoch

i don't wash my dishes by hand. why would i change my gears by hand?

I was generalizing. Respect to your mum for being competent.

Pretty much all autos these days have semi-auto, you can choose gears if you want

Wow, you can grip a knob with your hand? Such skill, you already do that every night though. I have a manual license but I don't like driving them, autos are so much more comfy with less shit to worry about and deter enjoyment of the road

I started driving in auto then bought a manual car mainly for work reasons and now I love manual, shit's fun as

Obviously auto is better. Nothing wrong with manual, but auto is just more comfortable and easier overall. Especially in the longer journeys.
>inb4 reeeeeee you fucking casual
yes you fucking autist you don't even own a car because you can't fit in

ITT: The same guys that care about other dudes having foreskin or not weigh in on how your car shifts

Same. Mom also taught me to properly parallel park. MFW i can parallel park in two moves into tight spaces. MFW my single mom is a better driver than most men.

auto coz im a little bitch

Manual. Unless you're a wizard and want to stay that way.

do you own a car?

>A) be roll started if you flatten your battery like a nub
Don't be a nub then. Besides, jumper cables exist.
>B) more easily fixed by mechanics, lowering your overheads on car repair and maintenance
Find a better mechanic who won't nickel and dime you.
>C) allow you to engine brake more easily, without risking your auto transmission
Where I live, engine braking is prohibited. So I can't really judge this one.
>D) allows the driver more control over speed adjustments, you can simply drop a gear to slow down 10 or so km/h instead of increasing the wear on your brake pads
Or, you know, just take your foot off the accelerator.
>E) you can drop it into neutral and roll around the place like a true skater fag.
You could do that in an automatic, but it's not recommended for any car to do that.
>F) you cant do a sick skid in an auto
You got me there.

>all around though, driving manual gives you a bigger penis.
I don't have a penis.

> asks every young, inexperienced driver

You can't slip the clutch in an automatic even with manual gear changes. You have no control over the clutch at all. Theres a million tricks you can use with a proper manual transmission. Dropping the clutch to start on a flat battery is just the start of it.

i'd kick your mums ass at driving.
