>MFW it's actually breddy gud

I don't remember anything from the opening crawl.

The movie is kinda hazzy too... they start on Jakku (not Tatooine) and... Kanjiklub, then the forest planet... and some stuff on the Death Star. Right?

Were you drunk?

yeah it's not bad
still a little forgettable and safe but it's not as awful as lot of people make it out to be

I'm legit enjoying this.

Only dumbass contrarians think it was terrible. It was too much like ANH, the main character was bland and it doesn't give the vast impression Star Wars should, but it wasn't a bad film by any means. It was just alright.

ALso, Daisy Ridley is a fox.

>Luke Skywalker has disappeared

that part got me.

it's a rehash of episode IV.

rey is a mary sue capable of doing things she shouldnt be able to do regardless of lineage.

its a good movie, not a good star wars

DROID PLEASE

dude that Dogfight is awesome.

It's a better Star Wars than I, II, and III.

That's more than enough.

REMINDER

>YWN have a brobot

I feel like I can at least enjoy the prequels as a train wreck and appreciate some of the thought that went into all the locations. Force Awakens is a better movie but it's just so drab and I barely remember any intense moments of dialogue through all the shit exploding

no, it wasnt better than any of them.

its a rehash of a previously done plot which completely negates its legitimacy as it is.

the only good new character was the black dude and maybe the pilot.

people had to figure that disney would give the princess treatment to this franchise since they bought it so its the hand we are dealt with.

episodes 1-3 werent great movies, but theyre better star wars movies than TFA

Being old sucks.

It was bad. What was even the point of it? It was more like a tribute to the old trilogy than an actual movie on its own. They didn't do anything remotely original or expand on the universe in any way. Everything was just a nostalgic set piece.

Not to mention how full of plotholes it is.

>When the weed is too dank

asdasd

It's "so-bad-it's-good" is not an excuse.

No they aren't, they don't understand the spirit of SW.

They gave Yoda a lightsaber, the lightsaber battles sucked and had no depth, Jedi wore Farmer Robes, Jar Jar, shitty love story, etc.

Look at this and tell me that's better than TFA.

>blows up what I assume was the Republic's capital (they never explained)
>people are shocked for two seconds and go back to not caring

What the fuck was the point in that? Since the First Order already accomplished their primary goal, what was even at stake any more?

How would you have reacted?

the resistance's home base and the fate of the entire galaxy.

This bothered me too. So many cut scenes really made that section of the movie hard to follow.

Luckily, I am a fan of the extended canon stuff, so I already have answers to all the questions. I just don't think its fair for the people who don't care about the books.

>mfw

>TFW

you're cherrypicking.

the saber battles weren't bad at all, idk where you're going with that.

jar jar and the gungans were fucking dumb, that's pretty much universally agreed upon.

you can't tell me you took the emo whiny douche that is supposed to be the next 'vader' of the series seriously when all he did was throw temper tantrums and get beat in saber duels by someone who has never used one.

also, the cringey fucking part where he goes to interrogate her with the force and she ends up resisting and using a jedi mind trick to escape. Jokes, dude.

like i said, TFA was a good movie, but not a good star wars. its rehashed, old, used up. it isnt original and it fed on nostalgia.

>LUKE SKYWALKER HAS VANISHED
something like that I remember

>this was actually in a Star Wars movie

It's clearly stated that that was the Republic's home planet. Pay attention.

No its not. The Prequels will always be better

The resistance only exists to protect the Republic. They failed.

Considering the Empire can just whip up another Death Star/Star Destroyer whenever they feel like it the whole ending feels empty and pointless.

...

Yeah I have a tendency to miss the offhand exposition in between the 20 minute action scenes.

...

Mom, why does the Empire get THREE Death Stars?

Wut

lol

They exist to fight the first order because the republic didn't want to make an army.

>he doesn't rewatch the film multiple times

are you not a Star Wars fan?

>nutted but she still sucking

What's wrong with this scene? It mirrors the first film when Luke destroys the Death Star and saves the day.

Reminds me of Skyfall.
>HUR DUR DUR BEST BOND MOVIE
No it wasnt. It mainly acted as a tribute to all the other Bond movies with the gadget, old car references. Skyfall had a better script but Spectre had far better rich environments and that one didnt end with a Home Alone rip off montage

I am a bit upset about that, because it seems worse than the Nostalgia pandering Lucas did in the prequels.
They had some nice cinematography and I did like the characters, except Rey because she seemed too good, but it feels like they wanted to play it safe, way too much.

Fug

think about who did the deed though.

I always get that warm tingly sensation when watching the opening music + crawl from the OT. I thought it was just conditioning because I still got that feeling from the PT. But in TFA, nothing.

Casino was better but Skyfall is still pretty great though.

>Home Alone

this arguement is complete bullocks, m8.

Kylo is actually an amazing fresh character.

>Keeps his helmet in a case filled of enemy ashes
Yes he is a wannabe Vader but then that is the way his character is written: it is symbolic of human society, how we wish to be exact copycats of others.

Actually an intelligent film by Disney in places. Otherwise my main problem with the film is the running time. It was far too short to better get to know the new characters as they spent majority of the time running and being chased.

:3

I think a big reason TFA gets hate that has nothing to do with the actual movie is that it was made by Disney.

The Disney buyout of Lucasfilm and their immediate decision to start making SW films as fast as possible just comes off as very cold business to a lot of people. People had made up their mind, before TFA came out, that Disney SW movies are just product and not movies.

When the comparison to A New Hope started being made after TFA came out, people got very negative, especially with the idea Disney's motive was just to make product that appealed to the long-term fans who knew REAL SW was Ep 4-6. Nostalgia money. Hating The Force Awakens was the result of that.

...

You're partly right. Disney's hand was all over this movie making it as generic and safe as possible. That's why a lot of people hate it.

>you can't tell me you took the emo whiny douche that is supposed to be the next 'vader' of the series seriously when all he did was throw temper tantrums

not that guy but this describes Anakin easily

It kinda feel like a "corporate cog", sure every product is made with the idea of selling it to make a profit, heck Coppola would have not worked on the Godfather had it not been for his debt problems, but it kinda feels like they just thought out what would work best in the shortest term, like when they closed Lucasarts, which had 1 completed game ready to ship and a huge TPS-RPG starring Boba Feet (on Lucas personal request otherwise the game would have probably been ready by then) that was even presented at E3.
Sure on the short term, that's less salaries to pay, more money for you, but is also like buying a corn field and burning the corn that was about to mature just because you want to build something the next week, you did not pay for it so no loss but you also ruined a huge potential for profit.

So when's the 4K blu-ray out, 1080p is shit

turned it off multiple times it was so terrible, probably should finish it but it's so bad.

>falling for the 4K meme

It's quite literally the same thing m8, are you sure you don't want to hate TFA because it feels like you do.

>Watched Sicario in 4K HDR
>Made the Blu-Ray look like a fucking joke

Watched it on a plane a couple weeks ago.

It was a carbon copy of A New Hope. Not offensively bad or anything, but just too bland to care for more than just the duration of the movie.

Chewie, we're old.

>Luke Skywalker has vanished.
That's really the only thing I remember from the opening crawl.

>Disney's motive was just to make product that appealed to the long-term fans who knew REAL SW was Ep 4-6. Nostalgia money.
JJ confirmed this.

>AGHHHHHHHHHHH!! ACTION!! NO FUCKING QUITE MOMENTS ONLY FUCKING ACTION AHHHHHHHHHHH!!

>thumblr
that image is fucking gay

There's nothing wrong with this, Warner, Fox, Sony, everybody would do the same thing, but at least Disney has some of the best quality control people in the business.

Kylo was just about the only risk they took, actually. And half the audience hates him for not being a badass like Vader despite that being the point.

I don't expect them to take too many risks going forward either. Rian Johnson is good, but I can see Disney nixing any attempt to go interesting directions with the characters. Rey will probably "struggle" with the dark side on paper but mostly just stay the perfect role model.

He is afraid to show his face. He looks away like a little bitch when Hux walks in on him talking with Snoke without his mask.

He's powerful with a lot of natural talent, but the point is he's so fucked emotionally and mentally by trying to force himself to be dark that his strength doesn't mean shit.

It's like poetry.

Noice

I BELONG IN A MUSEUM

You telling me Han never used the bowcaster before?! Or maybe his old mind just forgot.

I don't remember everything looking so obviously CG'd.

TFA was great but it was a rehash of ANH. JJ Abrams basically confirmed it because Disney didn't think the GA would be able to handle anything else but the safest possible film.

Rey was well acted but she was definitely overpowered (muh strong womyn).

Finn was well acted but way too fucking comedic for someone who's been trained to kill his entire life.

Kylo Ren was well acted but I left the theater feeling embarrassed for him because of how badly Rey fucked him up.

Besides kylo, what does VII offer that the ANH trilogy doesnt?

He took Finn out like a bitch.

>t. "signature" JJ Abrams "style"

>GOODNESS

Would you rather have mind-numingly boring pace of TPM?

God, how unremarkable it is.

the smoke battle was pre aesthetic

fucking JJ, the absolute madman!

>forgettable pablum i wouldn't wipe my musical ass with

XD good job williems!

Checked

I actually would yeah since then perhaps the story could be advanced with actual story instead of generic space-fantasy battle#213

>it must be this extreme or that extreme!

there's nothing wrong with this

the vehicles are fucking cool, regardless of the shittiness of the movie

>Luke Skywalker cannot be found
This line stuck with me.

Or like says, perhaps just turn down the action a few notches.

>That feel when you see your old bitch

>wearing lipstick
How? She is a desert girl who hardly has a wash

>new jacket?
