Anybody ever had problems with the Rumble 200 Head amp? Yesterday I had some problems with no sound output and then it started to heavily distort no matter the position the intensity, gain or drive pot were, and it's been like that ever since.
Ryder Long
This must have been way back in the day when a bunch of Japanese companies were trying to copy Alembic.

good start to a thread the prestige artist guitars are still great, but ibanez in the late 70s and into the 80s made amazing guitars

whats the difference between a scale and arpeggio?

forgive my stupidity but what are triads
how to apply them in songwriting/scales etc
Kevin Gutierrez
so iow you only play improv jazz

A mate is offering his digitech xp-100 to me for 200 aud. Should I go for it seeing as I'll do the jetpack mod on it? What's a digitech xp all worth?
Jordan Ramirez
an arpeggio is a broken chord. the 7th arpeggios you see in that picture include the 7th note of the scale, and are the same as a broken 7th chord. all the notes in an arpeggio are in the scale, because all the notes in a chord are in the scale and only for that reason. i find it useful to practice both 7th arpeggios and arpeggios with just the 1, 3, and 5
Caleb Miller
they're a chord with 3 notes. a chord is defined as having at least 3 notes playing at once, so triads are the smallest chords
Leo Wood
Hey guys. I literally just bought a guitar and I'm tuning it. I managed to tune every string except for the second to last, which sounds off to me. My tuner says it's tuned to B but it sounds a little weird and isn't as taut as the other strings. Is it fucked?
Andrew Barnes

is the B note an octave low/high?

Nah, more like mid range squier tier, but their pickups, bodies and hardware are nice for the price. The necks are really the only shitty part about them, they have that super cheap feel to them.
Liam Rodriguez
challenge: Record a clip trying your best to play some innovative guitar music (separating yourself as much as you can from pre-existing guitar styles)
more of like a casual jam group than a band though
Thomas Flores
Is it worth investing in a Michael Kelly guitar? A friend of mine that plays in a jazz fusion band swears by them, but I'd like more opinions.
Benjamin Brown
I haven't played one in years but I remember them having really cheap necks that you find on the cheapest made in china guitars. It's like they're made to look nice but are much cheaper in build quality.
Played fine though, those new ones with the Lollar pickups are potentially great deals.
Ryder Carter

Ok. Any recommendations?
I believe its a low.

chinese mafia type group.
triads are 3 notes.
so a major triad is made up of these intervals
1-3-5.
so if you wanted to play a D major chord you would first check the D major scale to see what notes is in it.
D E F# G A B C# 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
take the first one(D) third(F#) and the fifth(A) and you've got yourself a major triad.
heres where the fun begins.
you could stick a 7(C# note in this case) on that major triad and make it a major 7th chord. cool huh?
Ibanez makes some good guitars. They make some junk, too.. but most of the major manufacturers have a junk series.
Carson Diaz
>i can play all the notes, just not necessarily in the right order Lol.. i like this. Wish I'd thought of this when i was beginning. Going to use this when i make mistakes.
Brayden Rogers
I like/own peavey, but I'll never buy another one unless i find it in a pawn shop cheap or something after I'd seen an episode of "undercover boss" with peavey. The ownership was top notch douchebags. They're failing and deserve to fail.
Jace Adams
what did they do?

German thrash metal band Tankard all have jobs. They've been around since the 80s. Don't know how, or where you'd be able to get a job that lets you have months off to tour... unless they worked at every McDonald's in germany

Gstrings is good. Also smartchord is good. Smartchord has scales, arpeggios, metronome, bunch of other shit too. They're both free.
Also, tune the B to the G string's B (4th fret) if it's an octave low, you'll know. Unless the G is low, too.

Well, the factory was cutting hours and shit. The boss guy goes around undercoverbbwith employees, they tell them usual sob stories about thier lives and woes so ya feel bad. One guy tells him he has another job lined up, needs to quit. At the end guy takes off disguise. Tells people how happy they are to have dedicated employees. Promises them bonuses, raises, etc. Part that killed me is they convinced the one guy not to leave, promising him these things. Then they FF 3 months or whatever, never delivered anything they promised. Guy missed out opportunity on new job cuz he stayed at peavey and everything and they were going to close the particular factory they shot it in. When they asked the boss guy wtf, he said "they can't afford it, that's business"
Leo Russell
You'd probably have to pour another 200 bucks or so for a good set up and decent pick ups, but if you like the way it looks then go for it
I put a piece of card on the strings by the bridge and played percussively with a whammy bar. It's weird as fuck, but it's already been done. At least the card-mute thing has, I added in the percussive playing for good measure. True innovation is nearly impossible by now
Jason Turner
That's business lad
Grayson Walker
thx m8 Sounds awesome. Did you over dub at all? Kind of reminds me of John Cage's prepared piano stuff, I feel like more tonal music is rarely explored with prepared guitar everyone kind of went in the 100% timbral direction.
Brody Carter
he actually followed them around, listened to their shitty lives and ended up sacking them?
that's a cunt move albeit hilarious since those shows always have a happy ending
Julian Sanders
Yeah, the main whammy-percussion track is on the left, I did a 'lead' attempt on the right playing with a pick
Here's the same sounds but with some simple pentatonic stuff, kind of playing into the oriental feel of the timbre:
Not sacking them. Promised bonuses and raises and just never delivered. It sure is. I'm glad i don't work for them. On the upside, they tank and go out of business, old peaveys will probably go up in value to collectors, they'll develop some kind of "muh old peavey toans" meme....... Or more likely some Asian company will buy the name and they'll be a garbage joke brand.
Ian Torres
thoughts? i'm worried it sounds too Frusciantey/RHCP

Bruh why did you post this? I think I'm going to cry and vomit at the same time omg

regarding this: You actually can play a bass in classical guitar position easily. It's just a matter of holding it at around a 45 degree angle. Reach is not an issue. I always play this way seated. I started doing it this way because when I play standing I prefer to have the bass at that angle as it reduces left arm fatigue, at least for me. The classical guitar seated position allows bass to be at same angle I play standing up and roughly same position in relation to both arms.
Zachary Kelly
in reply to this:
Tyler Bailey
When i decide to play my bass i hold it classical seated position. But generally only play shit like 7th fret upward. Dunno why. Maybe because i usually just play guitar parts on it, or make up meal/doom riffs like a guitar part. Throw the low open notes in to make big low booms and shit. sounds kinda neat i guess.
I remember liking one song from this hobo, can't remember what it was though
Daniel King
Thanks! My music theory isn't great but they're basically bar chords.
D, A#/D, F, C on low E with thumb over top
Luis Thomas
less gain/10
Blake Bailey
i don't want tone critique, just the music
Cameron Thompson
this would be a decent foundation for a song of some sort
if it didn't have so much gain
Nicholas White
tfw want to play jazz but suck at bar chords
any good techniques for making first finger not a floppy useless cunt?
Luis Parker
Best hollowbody/semi-hollow guitar for jazzy fusion stuff? (John Scofield etc)
Justin Cook
I kept my first finger as totally straight as possible and kept my thumb behind the neck when i did a lot of bar chords.
Xavier Brooks
It's mostly about hand strength. Just keep practicing, you'll get there.
Isaac Barnes
What budget?
Epi Broadway might be up your street at ~$500. Dots are solid hollow bodies for much cheaper too. Don't know much about Ibanez Artcores semi-hollows but they're worth a look if you can spend a bit more.
Jason Davis

I don't think you can beat the Gibson Midtown for under $1000. Otherwise the Ibanez AS93 is good for the price.
Jackson Nelson
>ascended From what to what?
Nathan Jackson
What's the trick with Epiphone Casinos?
Supposedly industry standard guitars with no Gibson upgrade yet they sell for only $550.
Aiden Cook
the neck on them gets shorter with time
Xavier Harris
I don't really have a budget as I'm just speculating about the future but maybe ~$1200 AUD. So around 900 USD
Ibanez AS93 looks pretty good
Isaac Ortiz
From the laffed to the laffer, the /gg/ dream.
Julian Myers
How do I get good at guitar without ever practicing??
Liam Ortiz
They're an anomaly, especially if you buy a Peerless made model. I would put them up against any expensive thinline hollowbody guitar. Tuners are a bit cheap feeling I guess, but that's the only problem I can think of, they're not bad at all.
Elijah Anderson
>aud
i can't imagine how much you guys get reamed for a gibson there
Mason James
play from deep within your soul
your fingers will do the rest
Nathaniel Morgan
Mentally memorize the fretboard and go through scales in your head, build arpeggios in your head, just do everything except for physical playing in your head
Ian Barnes
how do i play metal to get a emo/scene gf... i have an ibanez guitar with 24 frets if that matters.. electric blue finish
Juan Green
So I'm a pleb in terms of theory. I played the clarinet in middle school and that's it. Is most jazz in standard tuning for bass?

Kinda sounds like something that would be on a Frusciante solo album. That's not a bad thing though.
Zachary Carter
Cheers for taking the time to listen. I do like Frusciante a lot so I guess its only natural the influence would come out. Do you think its on the right track of being a riff that can be developed into a song?
Jayden Scott
It happens after you play for a while. You can just improvise without thinking about scales and things too hard
