You can do a lot.
they are pretty overrated.

OP is right.

Taiwan is a paramount issue for China. It's not such an important issue for the US.

The Chinese will play the long game. No matter what obstacles prevent them from taking Taiwan, they will keep trying. Even if they don't control Taiwan within the next 50 years, they will never give it up. In 50 years, the US might not even care about Taiwan. Ideally, the Chinese don't want to use military force, but they will continue to use diplomatic and economic pressure to squeeze Taiwan until they peacefully surrender their sovereignty.

The only situation I can imagine in which Taiwan becomes officially independent is if there is a democratic revolution in China and the new government allows Taiwan to declare or vote for their independence. I don't see that happening any time soon, but it could happen before reunification.

You have to go back, Xiang.

Oh no, not Taiwan...

They'll try to take it over from the inside if they can. PRC is pretty cozy with KMT these days, a coup is one way of doing it. But with Drumpf poking the panda every day who knows how they'll do it.

What if taiwan develops nukes?
In that case I think it's a stalemate.

china would invade before that happened. they actually have an official policy that says if taiwan ever came close to developing nukes (among other scenarios) they would be forced to invade.

They tried it in the 90s, Bill Clinton sent the US 7th Fleet out there and dared them to bring it.

They back down.

China is willing to rule eastern India, South China Sea, East China Sea, Korea and East Russia
A very dangerous country

Tibet, East Turkestan, South Mongolia have already become Chinese colonies

We will liberate Formosa from its oppressors if that happens

I doubt the same would happen today 2bh

Who cares, it's just island chinks

Invasion of Taiwan is apparently the PLA's most thoroughly planned and worked out strategic maneuver.

i dont really give a shit

How does Taiwan or China affect me?

>They tried it in the 90s
China's stronger since the 90's.

And while US hasn't gotten weaker. It's stregnth relative to other powers have declined since the early 90's after the collapse of USSR.

USA didn't do shit when Putin invaded Crimea even though it guaranteed Ukraine it would be protected if it gave up it's nukes.

Even the sanctions that Obama placed on Russia are probably doing to get undone by Trump.

That sock puppet is making a lot of asumptions

Except that Taiwan is a veritable fortress with a well trained military.

China is still far behind the US militarily and technologically, they're less advanced than the 1980s USSR in some regards.

Not to mention a larger and more updated army the world fastest super computers. China is way stronger than 1980's USSR. It might be stronger than 2017 Russia too.

if you have time come to hong kong also senpai

We went over all this yesterday. China doesn't have anywhere near our capabilities, no recent combat experience, and the PLA has tons of corruption and a very inefficient, bureaucratic structure.

>CCCP decides to take Taiwan after due deliberation
>officials realize after further deliberation that they have no power protection to speak of and can't actually do anything
>nothing happens
Shit OP, I guess you're right

Also China is still quite poor, in fact their per capita GDP is only $6807. Despite trebling the defense budget since the 90s, inflation has eaten away at a lot of that.

the hubris of a dying empire

hi Xinag, you enjoy Canadian life? good

CCCP = Soviet Union

CCP = Chinese commie party

why is that tank orange m8

not very good camouflage imo

Even Russia has a better military than China.

Well they could always win with sheer numbers.

Numbers don't mean anything without the logistics or ability to project power.

are all those people going to swim to taiwan? their navy is tiny compared to ours, that's their biggest problem

> The Dutch military

The British had a better army, and even they weren't going to risk a war.

Cant they just blow your navy out of the water with missiles?
Fire 100 missiles at one ship simultaneously to overwhelm its defenses, the political fallout of the sinking for a democracy would be catastropic.

>We will liberate Formosa from its oppressors if that happens
Nigger you can't even liberate yourselves from muslims.

Keep sucking muhammad's dick.

china will never invade taiwan, it will never invade anywhere.

they've studied history. they know military agression is foolish.

china does not have a coherent military structure anyway. The leadership fears a coup.

>Invaded Crimea

Are we all forgetting Ukraine's legitimate government was overthrown by fascists? That was who the us and everyone else agreed to protect. If anything Russian involvement was honoring the pact to defend Ukraine. The US can't back a rebel government based on self determination and then complain to loudly when Crimea decided to self determinate as well.

It would be significantly different in this scenario. Regardless of what the US did it would have moral justification to support Taiwan as they are our direct ally from ww2

It doesn't quite work like that. Missiles have to be launched from somewhere. Longer range missiles are easier to stop. Any large collection of launch platforms will be known. Yes Chinese anti ship weapons can work against ships, but it's not a matter of just throwing missiles at the problem. Their submarines would be a larger threat to individual ships, but there is still the number problem.

It's a retarded tactical choice and the Dutch seem pretty annoying, but damn I'm not gonna lie it looks pretty aesthetic.

this...it won't happen...

>the long game
They will make a forward base in Vancouver and envelope the West Coast in a two more generations.

China's missiles aren't anywhere near as advanced or reliable as ours. The DF-21 has never yet been able to strike a moving naval target at battle speeds. Their missiles also rely heavily on satellites and radar systems that can be easily disabled.

>Are we all forgetting Ukraine's legitimate government was overthrown by fascists?
How much does Putin pay you to post on Sup Forums?

>Conscript peasants to invade Taiwan
>Tell them all to swim
>Population problem solved

You're right, China only knows how to box itself in and be surpassed.

>Calling out BS Obama era anti Russian propoganda
>Be called a shill

Do they taste like grape or blueberry? The pills I mean.

Trust me on that. The US military has spent plenty of time studying Chinese weapon systems and how to counter them. Which shouldn't be hard considering many of them are less advanced than Soviet hardware from the 1980s.

With a trump that hates china?
It will be the whole damn Navy.

>muh ASMs
Their missile corvettes would be rekt by carrier aircraft before they even knew war had been declared

How often do you hear anyone even talk about Chinese military hardware anyway? /k/fags discuss US, Russian, French, Israeli, etc gear, but rarely ever chinkshit because it's mostly just shit-tier clones of Russian weapon systems.

And who's going to support them economically after they do?

> no mention of korea

to the trash

There's a lot that we could do, but none of it would be worth it.
