I get a small, barely-there vibe of Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished from those spooky wispy synthesizers that start about a minute into Someday I Will Feel Better. More moments like that please. And also No News is pretty groovy. Avoid cliches of this generation, such as sensitive falsetto and making entire albums where the mood is "sad." That's my advice. (Also, Daisylung ain't bad at all. Maybe I'll come back and listen to some of this in full.)
I REALLY want you to succeed at this. I love the idea of musicians striving to make every album different. So right off the bat, neat-o concept. Rap could've been a lot more embarrassing than it was, plus I like the ambient traffic noises or whatever that is. Indie stuff is kinda generic. Jazz is probably your forte. Veeery interesting. Keep posting here m8. Make more instrumental stuff.

Just started to make some gigs in my city, also working on an EP with the same vibe, feel free to criticize, hate, love, tryna make improvements for the EP.
interesting sounds. almost like you took a ton of sound effects from a 80s-90s cartoon. i havent listened to much of the album but based on what i've heard i think you should be more confident with your voice + focus more on vocals
I cant really distinguish melodies or hooks. its very much all over the place but there is a lot of beauty in the chaos. I guess my advice is to squish it down a bit. It's difficult for this to grab me simply because its all over the place but it could just be a preference thing. you definitely have talent
Went into this with low expectations for whatever reason, was in fact pleasantly surprised. I love love love those barely-holding-it-together harmonies. Beautiful in their own way. And the monologue- I dig it. But will it ever find an audience? I don't know about that. Kinda sloppy. When is caring going to become cool again? Anyone know? Skipping through this album, it looks like there could be more interesting moments. I wish you had separated the tracks instead of just creating a "Side A" and a "Side B." Did I just hear a flute solo? Don't give up just yet.
>tfw you're still whoring yourself on these threads but haven't even reached /bandcamp/-core levels yet
Gotta admit, not a vidya type of guy. People should still check this out just for that funny song title about ants though.
Not feeling the A E S T H E T I C. Sorry. Does anyone else get irrationally bummed out by the amount of album covers nowadays that are just a blurred photo with some spooky filters on it?
A bit of an anomaly in these threads, and not just for the pretty great album cover artwork (which is admittedly as devoid of ego as anything in these threads, and in a way that feels almost sad- but not in a necessarily bad, artistic-failure kind of way). The music is kind of sad too. "We Had Many Fights Along the Way"? Some kind of weepy George Harrison guitar work in there. Nice job. Truly its own style. The fake instruments have decidedly grown on me since the last time I saw this in one of these here threads...
comfy
Thanks a lot. I'm definitely trying to address the vocal problem on whatever I make next.
Better than I expected- you may even be starting to reach the point where this music can appeal to people that aren't part of its initial niche audience (e.g. me).
You, on the other hand, are NOT starting to reach the point where this music can appeal to people that aren't part of its initial niche audience. But that's not even really too much of a concern, is it?
What? This is actually from 1982? Well, good job. Clearly a lot of time was put into this, unlike some of the other stuff in these threads. Personally it didn't click with me, but that does not mean it shouldn't get some more attention.
I must be reaching at least 99, but I will say this: it isn't obnoxious. And that album title. Wew lad. (I mean that in the best possible way.) Make more stuff like the first track.
Now did you actually make any of this music yourself? Cuz if so, good job. Listening to this truly conveys that feeling of "please hold, your call is important to us." And I mean that in a positive way.
Not the sound I was expecting from the description, that's for sure. You might even try changing your description; more people might listen to it. This is neat and not without a certain comfy factor. Train Back From Shrewsbury is a highlight. I might have to come back to this one, even. Imagine that.
Not my thing, but actually kind of interesting. I don't know what you're doing here. It doesn't feel like dance music. It kind of puts me on edge. It's like the sound is stuck and wriggling around instead of moving about freely. Interesting. I'm talking specifically about what starts to happen about 3 minutes and 20 seconds into the first piece. Weird. I like it. Unnerving.
Well look, you come from Dayton, so you have the Spirit of Robert Pollard to use his voices to guide you. This ain't half bad. It ain't half good either. Let's see "Music To Get Sad To" make some music to get happy to, or maybe even music to get melodic to. (You were already inching there- "WHEEERE IS MY GUIDE" is cat-chy.) But I should confess this genre isn't my thing in the first place.
Yeah I never listen to this kind of ambient music, but the album description is subtly breaking my heart in a way that indicates I've got some kind of neurosis going on. I don't listen to this stuff, but it's making me wonder "Why not?" Combine that with the odd kind of power behind the last track you got there, and a Philip K Dick reference to boot, and I might even let my ears give this a chance.
quietsand.bandcamp.com
its not actually from 1982. that was just the spirit of it. so i put it in the title.
oh my god this is fire
Hey hey, not bad. I mean it. I do not think your voice is too dramatic. I'm not exactly an expert on stuff like this though. The beats behind "Bwin" are really pleasant and kind of extremely melancholy in a very subtle way. Reminds me of how breathing used to feel after childhood crying. If that makes sense. In fact, I think I'm just going to listen to "Bwin" a couple of times.
"An album about feelings." Not too shabby piano work. Keep it up. Or don't. Based on the amount of effort it sounds like you put into this, I don't think it'll be a major life decision for you either way, will it? Or am I grossly misjudging this? (Btw- lovely album cover.)
Listen to more John Cage and get back to us. That would be my advice. Otherwise, not that bad.
Even more stuff that falls into the category of "not my thing." Points for the Spielbergian profile picture.
I highly recommend that you not charge money for this. I do not mean this as an insult. It's got its own warped-by-the-sun thing going for it.
Good Ol' Eric Taxxon, delivering the goods yet again, pumping out yet another album in an entirely different style quicker than you can blink. Now this is a style I can get into. Those vocals on Small Feelings. Or the little bloop at 1:51. Or just the whole thing. I only listened to the first track actually. I'm a poseur. But of course, this is always something that one can easily come back to.
if your music was actually good, maybe your opinion/feedback would be relevant.
Could've fooled me!
I've been ignoring this for quite a while but you know it's pretty groovy. Specifically the percussion. There's something very emotionally resonant about that percussion, I mean it. And yeah, I only listened to the first track. But I'll get around to the rest. My advice so far is see if you can do something to distinguish your sound a little bit more. Add some disparate element to it or something. This should be listened to, people.
Hmmmmm. Maybe it's reading the frankly a little too close to home comic at the top of your page that makes this music unnerve me. But it's also a definite anomaly as far as stuff in these threads go. I mean, what the heck is going on here exactly? This deserves a lot more attention. And I've got to come back to it eventually, so I recommend you keep posting in these threads.
Wait a second, is this THE Montie? Well, who cares. This is wonderful. Salvation Army aesthetic til I die. Please make more of this great twee stuff. I have long been hankering for an entire albums' worth of GBV's "You're Not an Airplane." I don't know if Daniel Johnston is an influence or not, but he springs to mind. More conventional singing voice though.
...
I found this to be a splendid project (Senioritis), after listening to the first few tracks on the website I immediately had myself download it. Recommend this a bunch.
I think perhaps you'd find this album interesting. discogs.com
Glad you liked it so much. I'll definitely check out the "Mo" album
