Chinese cashier didn't had change, so she gave me candies instead

>Chinese cashier didn't had change, so she gave me candies instead

Is this normal in you're country?

I visited family in Russia 7 years ago, and I got a box of matches instead of change once.

rip doggo

Yes. I thought it was a common pratice in third world econnomies since coins are sometimes rare.

yes

now i'm curious about third world countries in other continents

Only to kids

No. Completely unacceptable lol.

You see, I think it's more complicated than that. I can understand europeans and americans to be annoyed but here in Brazil (and I imagine in other latin american countries), the difference between cents isn't that much.
I've heard about gringos being really confuse when they buy stuff here that is like R$9,99 and they expect 1 cent as change. Thing is, we don't produce 1 cent coins anymore so there's really no way to pay you back. Now add this that coins are really annoying to carry around and most middle-class people nowadays use cards for everything. So this creates an economic problem that we don't use coins as often as developed countries. This means most commercial places will lack change when eventually people use bills to pay instead of cards.

This or bubble gum

Gum also works

No cause we're not 3rd world.

El Salvador

Never happened to me

>tfw 9 your old (You) is 10 pence short and you think you won't get your sweets
>some nice old man in the queue hands you the change
Miss being a kid

No, never happened to me :3

all fine and dandy until you can't pay THEM with candies. kinda unfair then

wtf
no

Yes. Its gum.

cool flag desu

what if it is an adult store and they only have porn and no bubble gum? would they give you a blow job?

You know what's funny? A guy here keep receiving candy as change every day from the bakery. One day he collected so many he bought a bunch of bread with it. Of course the baker didn't want to accept but the guy went into justice to have his right to pay in candy as well. He own.

never happened to me, sure u didnt get scammed bro?

He own the bakery now? wow nice

what's a bakery?

A place where you go in the morning to drink coffee, buy milk, bread and cakes? You don't have those in USA?

una panadería
pic related

but i don't like candy, and i can't buy things with it

idk, she told me in broken spanish
>no moneda, caramelos... tenga caramelos
no change, candies... take candies

ah, starbucks!

it was a joke about our crappy bread.
also i don't think we have the exact equivalent.

We have Bakeries, that user is just being stupid.
They work differently here though based on what you're saying.

A bakery is just a place they make bread/donuts/other baked goods. People don't usually buy milk or coffee from them, and people congregate to sit down in coffee shops instead.

strange... i wouldve said nah ill wait here til u get change

I mean, we call them bakeries ("padaria") but some of them even make lunch dishes or even sell beer at the afternoon.
We have a strong coffee culture here so it's no wonder you can buy coffee in such a trivial place.

No and if you do not stand up to the Chinos you are a cuck desu

btw what's up with that stereotype that all bakeries are owned by portuguese immigrants?
everytime i go to Foz de Iguaçu the bakeries are owned by germans

Hahaha I have no idea. Maybe it was something really common for many years in the past and that remained in the colective imagination of everyone. Same thing with "japaneses are dyers or veggie sellers" even if they are quite rare nowadays.

What kind of coffee do you drink?

I'm more of a tea person but here most popular ones are pure and pingado (pure with a little of milk)

When that happens they ask if I want something else or they spare me the few pesos.

If I buy something for 7 pesos, pay with 10 and they don't have change, they ask me if I want something worth 7 pesos or spare me those two pesos ("luego me los pasa joven").

Is not so common though.

>they ask me if I want something worth 3 pesos or spare me those three pesos*

i got condoms once
they were coin sized though so i used them in a vending machine

>coin sized condoms
what the hell
who the fuck has such a micro penis?

>luego me los pasa joven

that's nice, store owners here are uber jews, they don't spare you a cent

we have this thing called rubber, you should try it
