Weird Time Signatures

As a musician, I appreciate complex and articulate music, but I absolutely cannot stand the stupid off time sounding stuff from Periphery and Meshuggah, and other Prog Metal groups. It doesn't sound professional, it's sloppy and is not pleasant to the ear.

I hate the look of rosewood boards desu.

maybe thats how it was meant to sound and youre just not used to the genre, i mean what complex stuff do you like? King Crimson?

Man that Jaguar is fucking beautiful.

Pretty sure Marc Bolan had one just like it

>sloppy
So you've never listened to Animals as Leaders or Between the Buried and Me before, huh?

>inb4 I'm being trolled

king crimson does irregular meters pretty well

There's a lot of god tier post hardcore and math rock that does odd time signatures very well.

Idk anything about time signatures

How do I find out what time signature a song is in

Is this in a weird time signature?

This is my 1st time ever on Sup Forums. Is everybody here as big a faggot as you?

its because a lot of it is poorly written shit with odd meters just for the sake of having odd meters. if u want to here weird time signatures actually sound decent try classical music or jazz cuz i havent found any prog metal that sounds decent

Ebony > Rosewood > Maple

Yeah, verses are 11/4 I believe. Chorus drops a beat and is 10/4.

Underrated example

The first time I listened to Blue Rondo a la Turk by Dave Brubeck (9/8) I thought the same thing. Now I don't know how I ever thought it was difficult to follow.

You're gonna fucking love The Bad Plus

My band has been working on a track that starts in 5/4, switches to 3/4 and then ends in 5/4. Does thay qualify?

dropbox.com/s/yo18ykkmblitavf/Jingo unmixed_unmastered v.1.3.mp3?dl=0

It's 9:45 seconds. Still needs a ton of work/re-work with vocals and instrumentation. The lead guitar is placeholder for now. Pseudo-prog, psychedelic?

I prefer Meme Green to Seafoam Green.

What about this?

All' them surf green guitars and no Meme Master or Mustang, terrible.

kinda

Is that not a Mustang, front and center?

What're your thoughts on King Crimson?

That is a Duo-Sonic.

Nah its a Duo sonic

as long it isnt wankery shit is ok

isnt it /8 time
or are the drums fucking me over

>11/4
>10/4
What? Why would they write a peace in 11/4 or 10/4 when they can just divide the meters into 5, 6, 4 and 2? Or am I missing something here

You'd like Chon, OP
