best albums of the abomination that has been the 2010's thread

I'M THE ONLY KID AT MY SCHOOL WHO LISTENS TO REAT MUSIC AND THEY ALL LISTEN TO JUSTIN BEIBER AND ONE DIRECTION AND I'M LIKE NO THANKS I PREFER QUEEN

you do realise that you dont need to be like thast to think music is shit now? it just fucking sucks. look at any pre-2000's decade and the fucking insane amount of legendary albums that came out

I wish Deerhunter had stopped right after Halcyon Digest.

They are not what they used to be.

SORRY I ONLY LISTEN TO REAL MUSIC, MAYBE TRY LISTENING TO GUNS AND ROSES FOR ONCE AND NOT JUST TOP 40 DRAKE AND JUSTIN BEIBER

not listened to anything after it, does it suck?

...

Haclyon Digest is amazing. Monomania is mostly 'meh' save for the title track and Sleepwalking, and Fading Frontier was even more bland than Monomania.

what? monomania is fucking cool

agreed

...

...

2010 only seems shit because 00s was awesome for music.

Wait till 20s and all the good shit from this decade would be "wow the 10s were amazing"

Monomania is their best album

>the abomination that has been the 2010's
Here we go again, eh?

Pretty much

we got blackstar and a moon shaped pool in the same year

which were both meh

you're the fuckin abomination m8

Main man Andy

musically blackstar was a bit meh, title track was pretty decent. as a whole though, the lyrics, the packaging and his death 2 days later did make it a pretty strange and memorable record though. moon shaped pool was as meh as they come. like it's not by any means bad ( a little boring and sluggish maybe) but i could not understand the fanboyish ott reaction at all

i dont understand this school of thought, it might make but you just have to look at it objectively. pop music is floundering under its own pressure to be as wide reaching (lowest common denominator) as possible, you find so little in the way of progress there, when you observe any decade beginning to end you find phenomenal amounts of change except for this one, which from 2010-17 there is barely any. smaller alternative movements still exist, and some have even affected mainstream (etc grime in uk) but because of social and technological change it is basically impossible for these scenes to exist outside of commericialism and exist as their own artform (66/67 psychedelic music, mowtown, punk)

a moon shaped pool has too much patience and subtlety for most people
admittedly though the production job on burn the witch is crap

is patience and subtlety now synonymous with slow electronic jams where thom yorke does the exact same thing each time. i will admit daydreamers is pretty cool though.

>thom yorke does the exact same thing each time
I know this isnt true because I'm a singer and have sung along to the record numerous times

...

I thought you were talking about the vocal parts. What were you talking about?

only bored as I get older

this
> look at any pre-2000's decade and the fucking insane amount of legendary albums that came out
how do you type this and still decide to press Post?

Also this.

well so far it's looking pretty dire up in here

well i feel that this thread sums up the 2010's in music. lotta morons squabbling over nothing, and the occasional pretty decent album

Microcastle/Weird Era Cont. > Halcyon Digest

...

It only seems this way because this board is very rock-centric and rock music is dead, very little innovation is going on in the genre right now, prove me wrong

Criminally underrated.

show me innovation elsewhere. vapourwave is a pretty hollow movement. rap and hip hop still have some places left unexplored (like rock in the 90's) but ultimately are so far past their golden era.

90s>80s=70s>10s>00s

60's>70's>50's>80's>90's>00's>10's

never delved into much pre-50's but im willing to bet it would fall between the 80's and 90's

such a bad decade..

yeah it is, what's your point?

I just posted 16 9/10 albums. That's more than two 9/10 albums a year on average

here's some brilliant 60's albums, and these are only ones under the umbrella of 'rock' doesn't include any motown, soul, proto-electronic, modern classical, jazz, blues or folk in it.

deerhunter 6/10 (halcyon is maybe an 8/9tho)

...

i know right, hope they come out with some new shit soon, they have a lot of unreleased stuff floating about

have you listened to ostrich vacation? great stuff as well.

yeah course. i dig parts of it but it's not as good as their polished material imo.

say it to my face if you want to be starting something

>vietcong

not as good as Tragedy or Ekstasis

Fading Frontier has exactly one really good song- snakeskin- the other songs sound like real estate covers. they kinda grow on you but not really too much.

hype for the next atlas sound album or project whenever that comes out though

Here is a thing i just made of 25 albums i spent a lot of time with from this decade

Best album of the 2010's so far.

tragedy comes close but no. all three are fantastic though

Love this album.

absolute pleb

Fuck yes!

this is embarassing

one or two duds but otherwise respect this is a good chart.

no oneohtrix?

I agree except R+7 is 10/10

Did we get invaded by /r/music? Cmon fellas. This is all fine music but most of it is uninteresting

Fucking kek, this fucking band

POPPIN PILLS IS ALL WE KNOW

Is it as good as halcycon digwest? not that was there peak all artists hit it. Is there new music still good and better than alot of psych rock out there. Yeah way better and their pretty good at grungy rock. Try turn it up faggot some time if you want more of monomania

I got into deerhunter during Weird Era and I still love them, but I've never actually managed to listen to monomania or fading frontier all the way through. They're both so bland. HD is great though.

This is a midget, right?

Yes
